Mary2712 How does changing the lyrics to "It's the same old theme in 2018" make the song more important today? All it does is remove the reference to the 1916 rising, and confuses the message. There hasn't been any conflict over the border in 2018 as far as I know, so it's NOT the same old theme in 2018?

I dunno, I still don't like it. It was a very specific song, about a specific topic. The Troubles was a terrible time to live on the island, especially near the border, with daily terror attacks and bombings in the streets. I feel like the song's very direct, very explicit message, is just diluted by the change, going from a very specific protest about "these people, these two specific children the song is dedicated to, are dying right now, and we need to do something about it" to "war is bad guys". It's like how when a church approached John Lennon and asked him if they could cover "Imagine", but change the lyric "And no religion, too" to "And one religion, too", and he refused them the rights, saying they were missing the entire point of the song. 1916 is an incredibly important year in Irish history, and by removing that reference they're both removing the only real reference the song has to the matter at hand, and washing over that conflict, and that bloodshed, with a completely vapid and meaningless "call to action" that will be completely outdated in six months. I don't know, it just reminds me of the saying "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". We need to preserve this sort of historical piece, not scrub it clean of historical relevancy by "updating" it.

Oh wow okay... She sings beautifully... perfect technique and voice control mixed with her emotional feelings... No wonder why so many people are listining to this song.
