i think of this song as 2 siblings who used to be close as kids but as they've grown up they've become, well, enemies and one of them- the younger one- wants to be done with the other for all they've put them through but the other, older and mature one, wants to make things right but isn't sure how, because of course neither can remember why they even started fighting but neither is willing to give up the fight, for the younger its because that'd be letting the other *win* as they've always been winning since they were kids, and for the older because they know the younger would never truly forgive them, but the older one is willing to do anything for the younger to love them again of course the younger one always just wanted to be loved by them so eventually the older one just... gives up. the younger one 'wins' but it's bittersweet. and now there's no way for them to be as close as they used to be, after all of this. *are we allies? or enemies?* that might just be me projecting ^^

This really reminds me of how I am with my sister. We were always really close, but also fought a lot. But even when we fought, especially when our parents weren't home, we'd always end up laughing somehow. We'd always end up lying side by side on the floor, counting scratches. We still have these moments, just with less physical wounds. But even if we fight every day for a week, I don't know what I'd do without her. I love your music, it's so beautiful!

I sort of interpreted this as a relationship that was once good and loving - one that's turned into something hurtful and toxic for both parties. They don't know whether to leave the relationship or stay - they still care about each other, but it's so hard to be together when it's this bad for them. (The relationship itself is never defined in the song to be romantic, but I kind of classified it as romantic in my head.) I absolutely love the song and the band, and if my interpretation is incorrect... Oh well. I still love the song. :)

This song makes me think about my dnd ocs. My character had someone who they saw as a sister. They had a very good relationship in the beginning because they both got into mischief and were both kicked out of their homes because of that so they related to each other. Soon a war broke out and they were forced into a life of crime to survive. Together they started a gang and it started gaining traction and growing bigger. The sister became more outwardly cruel and my character became more conflicted. Eventually they had a fight and went their separate ways, but even so they still love and care and worry about each other. Both of them would still do anything to help the other even if they wouldn't outright admit it. "Remember when I could tell you not to smile when you were mad? And you would always crack, and we’d both be laughing in the end Now you’re not so quick to forget" These lines especially make me think about them. Like that's them to a T.

I kinda think that this song is about 2 best friends,one of them being really toxic but the other being oblivious to it since they were raised in a toxic household.the toxic bsf starts caring about the other after a while and is starting to try and become less toxic.the one who was oblivious to it realizes that the toxic on is actually being toxic to them.they try to -kts- and thats what the "this will be the death of me" is,them saying that this will be the last time that the other talks to them,the toxic one convinces them not to do it.the toxic one stops trying to get better and becomes toxic again.the other is no longer oblivious to it and theyve been put so much that they try to -kts- again.their stopped by the toxic one.then the toxic one becomes EVEN more toxic.the final "this will be the death of me" is the other bsf finally succeeding at -suicide- and dying. I have two OC's who this fits so well for and no one asked but I'm gonna tell their story anyway So basically they are twin brothers who have wings and are princes and since their parents are royalty and not around a lot they relied on each other and we're best friends but as they grew older they drifted apart. Until one of them falls for a human wich is against the rules and the council finds out and thinks it's the other innocent twin and sense the other is only a scared fifteen year old he doesn't correct them and his brother is exiled. He feels guilty for the rest of his life and the other brother becomes evil and swears revenge, and on his brothers coronation day he takes over the castle and fights him. But it ends up with the evil brother on the ground with a sword to his throat. But the other brother drops the sword and gives him the chance to kill him. So the exiled brother flees with all his held back pain and confusion coming at him all at once.
