Sometimes when I speak to tech scammers, I claim my computer was hacked by Canadian scammers. Gets them every time when I go off on a rant in a deep southern accent about "how those filthy syrup suckers cracked my computer like a plastic bumper hitting a moose". Sometimes I also use a british accent and claim it was French hackers, or claim that the Russian mafia stole all my nudes and is holding them ransom.

Oh my gosh, about a year ago I was in a little town in TN and I could tell the lady in front of me at the target was very upset and was buying several gift cards. Something seemed off and I was surprised to see her crying her eyes out on the phone parked right across from me. I walked over and knocked on her window and told her I saw her in the store and am concerned for her and asked if she minded sharing with me what was wrong. Sure enough, she was on the phone with one of these guys, and target cashier told her she could only sell her 500.00 worth of gift cards and the guy was telling her she owed much more and was yelling at her. Obviously a scam and I told her to hang up and go return the gift card and we called the police to prove to this poor woman that it was a scam and she didn’t need to get gift cards for anyone 🤦‍♀️

On the anecdotal side I've known several elderly folks fall victims to these scams. In my case all the ones i've know have been of the "your granddaughter is in trouble, send me apple gift cards or she's fucked" variety. I've been educating all the elderly people that i care about in regards to all the scams as best i can. "don't ever tell anybody anything over the phone" etc etc.

Technically true, they played chess for money and these guys are conning people for money. But that doesn't mean they're good at it, or calculating. They're mostly manchildren, with an absolutely infantile grasp on the world overall, and the vast amounts they scam from people primarily come down to casting a LARGE net and hitting gold now and then. Pretending to be in love with granny is a tactical move, of course, but as you can tell from this video... they generally stink at it. Switching to angry mode, though, that's not a tactical move, that's them literally just getting angry because they're entitled babies at heart.
