The Craziest Wind Waker Glitch You've Never Heard Of

Ah I remember this. This was the most hype glitch ever for about 45 minutes.

Sick cover of this glitch ! To add to this glitch story, there was a time we were trying to come up with some fun challenges in Wind Waker HD. One of them was trying to downgrade your sword to the hero's sword and beating the game with it. However at the time it was not possible to perform the morth hover without bombs. Thus it meant that skipping the hookshot required bombs and thus the gossip stone in forsaken fortress. Getting the gossip stone changes some layers all around the world, progressing the story forward, and making it impossible to go back to the forsaken fortress 1 early anymore using glitches to re-enter the pirate ship in late game. This makes it impossible to downgrade your sword from the master sword to the hero's sword. That's where FIT was able to come into play. You could use FIT to transfer the bombs from one savefile to another without transferring the gossip stone. Then that file could downgrade the sword and get to ganondorf with the hero's sword. Nowadays you can do morth hover without bombs so once again this isn't useful anymore. There is still some potential for some crazy low% category that allows deleting items, because you can chain FIT with itself in various ways, get items then delete your inventory, and it becomes a pretty big headache very quickly. I don't think anyone came up with something fun that really worked.

some Low% route with this would be crazy to see at some point, i remember seeing people trying to route it a few years ago and looked like a nightmare

This brings back a ton of memories! The only way I see this glitch still holding any potential is if other data could be allocated where it stores the items temporarily, so that data could be copied over your real items. I remember theorizing this back when it was discovered, but I don't think anyone ever looked into where the data gets copied to, nor what else might get written there.

There is ONE thing this glitch can do, that the "regular" any-% route can't do, which is to bring those transferred items into early-game-only scenes, such as Forsaken Fortress 1. But it would require some rather specific glitches to be discovered for that to be of any value - like, super specific. It has to be faster to find a suitable boss fight and transfer your items and go to your destination, than to change the order you get your items in.

This is extremely similar to Furnace Fun Moves, a glitch in Banjo-Kazooie that lets you transfer moves from one file to another with the minigame replay squares on the board. That glitch is actually allowed in speedruns though.

As soon as you mentioned you needed another save file to use this glitch was when I KNEW why no one talks about it sadly. Its a cool glitch though but this sucks

This was originally what we thought it could be used for in something like 100%, however it never ended up working in routing and made things way too complicated so nothing fast has been found so far.

I'm surprised this has no use in runs. You would think being able to travel to one place in one file, then pick up the items you got there in another file would be abusable. Is it just that there's no way to initiate the glitch without already having the items you would want to transfer anyway? Or is it the other way around, where needing the telescope to be *absent* on the target file, but present on the source file makes it take too long to gather the items on the file you're transferring from?

The second option is the problem. If we have to get it on another file anyways there's not much of a point in transferring.
