The Creators of Robocop Rebuilt an Entire Set Just to Reshoot an Actor

This video is a reissue as the previous upload was flagged for copyright infringement.
It's not all that uncommon for a movie to go through reshoots. However, it is less common to rebuild an entire set just to reshoot a few seconds of a scene with a minor character. Well that's exactly what the creators of Robocop did.

My favorite part about this video? The fact that it's 30 minutes of nothing but Karl & Brad talking about RoboCop without any clips. Completely dialogue-based, and this makes me happy because I could just listen to Karl & Brad talk about anything. It's funny that this one is one of my favorite videos despite there not being any clips because that means the content is 100% original. I suppose this is why I love the tangent videos so much. MGM doesn't actually earn enough money to be able to fund movies by itself anymore - It has to co-produce with Sony (and product place to hell) to be able to make new James Bond films. Pretty sure Karl did a video on that already.

Something I love about these videos about old movies is that when I was a kid my brothers sat me down to show me old classics but since I only saw them those one or two times each and I watched them all in quick succession every time that sat me down I barely remember most. I did a 3D model of ED-209 for school, and I went to TOWN with the details. I modeled the gears and hydraulics to be proportionate to each other, and turn in the right ways, and it was a MONSTER to rig, but when it was, I found that all of the moving parts on ED-209 served some sort of purpose. It was awesome.

Ed209 is actually one of my arguments when people say that we should have giant walking robots for war. I point out how unstable they are on two feet as opposed to wheels or tracks. Then there is the problem with weight and mass. One good solid blow to the top body of the "walker mech" and it topples over and cant get back up. Its fucked.

The headshot in maniac was pretty cool tom savini was a photographer in vietnam and used a lot of his pictures to help with his special effects design and if I remember correctly the way they did the shot was to have him shoot his own dummy through the windshield with a shotgun the result was magnificent
