Frank Miller doing a family friendly movie? That's like Nickelodeon hiring a guy who wrote a comic about a schizophreniac serial killer to do a cartoon about an alien invader and expecting him to conform to their guidelines... Wait a minute.

There was a joke in Robocop 3 that I thought was amusing. It was the one where a guy tried to rob a diner at gunpoint, with it being entirely full of police officers in full body armour and the clerk said "What's it like being a rocket scientist?". That joke made me at least smile.

***** I wouldn't say 'cowards' in this case. You do need to take risks, but it can be hard to judge where, when, and how you need to take risks and what the movie-going public wants or is ready for at a given time. 'Short-sighted' is a term I do agree with, though. :)

Hollywood must have short term memory loss, as they keep believing that toning a movie's rating will guarantee large profits. 1) A movie's rating has nothing to do with how much money the movie will draw 2) As Deadpool has shown, R rated movies can rake in cash. So they shouldn't worry if a movie is rated R.

I really cannot stand Frank Miller anymore. He did have great stories when he was younger ( Man without Fear, Batman Year One, Ronin, Sin City when it started) but his stories went on a downward spiral and he became a parody of himself.

Don't forget The Dark Knight Returns. But yeah, with the exception of maybe 300, pretty much all of his work post-Sin City has been utter garbage - The Dark Knight Strikes Again, All-Star Batman and Robin and, worst of all, Holy Terror. And he's continuing to tarnish his own legacy and the Batman legacy in general with yet another sequel to Dark Knight Returns that nobody asked for - Dark Knight III: The Master Race.

TDKR is the greatest conclusion to any trilogy, it’s pretty much the perfect movie and it gave us an extremely satisfying ending to an already great story. As a fan of the original Robocop... thank you for covering this atrocity! Also, that studio mandate on Robo14 going PG-13 is for quite possibly one of the dumbest reasons ever. The "Curse of the Third film" is more about the laziness of the studio than any sort of over-saturation of the audience. They are usually rushed to cinemas just to cash in using the brand recognition and this is also the problem with almost all reboots as well. If they actually take their time and "try" to make a decent film, instead of rushing it, they have a decent chance of being good film.

7:52 Robocop 3 was going to start filming the same year 2 came out, 1990 [2 released in June, Filming for 3 planned for December] and although was pushed back a couple of months, was finished by May 1991 so was clearly a rush job which probably explains the use of an earlier script. of course the film was on the shelf for two years due to Orion's bankruptcy so casual audiences were less aware of that at the time.

After "RoboCop 3" bombs at the box office in the 1993/1994 year, filmmaker Fred Dekker has finally returned to short films while Frank Miller was focusing on writing comic books and several cast/crew members found some work with new projects. MGM owned the "RoboCop" franchise since 1997 and Sony Pictures Entertainment and its divisions which including both Sony Pictures Television and TeleVentures were co-distributing the entire MGM, UA, Orion, American International and Goldwyn feature film/television library between 1994 and today under the Sony Pictures Television banner.

I remember when they announced that the expendables 3 was going to be PG-13 and I was like, well that's gonna be a piece of shit, and surprise surprise it was a colossal piece of shit. Thankfully with the successes of mad max: fury road and deadpool we might be starting to see the end of this pointless watering down of films

Yeah, RebootCop was just so bland, it isn't really worth being torn down. They lingered too long on technical aspects and too little on the message they were attempting to convey; because they have to ham-handedly tell the audience what their message is. His 'Death-scene' was watered down, though I appreciated the corporate attempt to utilize an outwardly altruistic approach to pursue an agenda, I also felt it undermined the original film's message of corporate indifference to the human condition which saw people as consumers or competitors and treated both with equal callousness.

I (unfortunately) have sent his movie before. Those rebels are the most incompetent freedom fighters I've ever seen. First the anti-OCP sign, then the map to their base on one of the men, then while they have sentries when robocop comes in they are gone when the rebels are attacked. I mean, maybe these aren't trained soldiers but give them some intelligence.

Funny thing I heard about Robocop 2014. When they made the new Robocop Suit they neglected to inform the weapon master, who made his gun, about the suits glove specifications. That is why they ditched his right "gauntlet" and added the "they saved his hand" bit in the film. The finger of the suits gauntlet would not fit into the guns trigger guard. A bit spooky as in the original Robocop movie they also sort of messed up the suit, as it did not move like it was designed to and all the months Peter Weller researched and prepaired on how to move in the suit was a waste of time. He had to figure out how to move and act in a suit that was sort of "badly made" from the original blueprints for the suit (the suit was suposed to allow Weller to have full unrestricted-ish movement but they messed up the suits joints so it was almost impossible for Weller to move) Thank the Gods of Hollywood that Weller is such an awsome actor that he was able to give that Iconic performance with only a couple of weeks of practice.

I love the series, too. He talked about usually disappointing third films in series and I was surprised he didn't mention the third Toy Story film as an example of a rare third film that actually lives up to the expectations (or rather is a great film, though YourMovieSucks would disagree Toy Story 3 is that great), in the video at least.

10:59 with regards to hacking Ed 209 I just chalk that up to him by this point being an outdated model, after all this movie takes place a decent amount of time after the first movie when ED was first introduced. By this point in the story they were already considering Robocop outdated and he was more advanced than ED, so the idea that someone could in theory hack him now isn't that crazy.
