Loving this project! Wish I still had my jeep trucks, I'd have sent you a complete round headlight grill assembly. I was planning to make one out the two but the township got on me about them not being tagged and insured, ended up having to scrap them due to time restrictions and threat of expensive fines😓

I remembered a nice set of aluminum slots (factory JEEP wheels) but the JEEP they was on was in bad shape back then and so my dad took the j10 rims and TIRES and placed them on like a 1990s bodystyle Chevrolet 2500 but with the 6 lug and they fit right on

Ive always thought it was crazy how little the number of people who could tell or spot the differences between the 1980 or earlier bodystyles & 1981 or later bodystyles and that's how the cab its self changes and the way the body differs above the windshield ,the style before had what almost resembled a visor over the windshield and I believe was changed later on to TRY and improve the aerodynamics and such for fuel efficiency or so on but personally I liked the looks of the older style but STILL all good

I'm a Jeep guy and I love my 04 Grand Cherokee, and I have to say that's going to be a dang nice truck when it's done, I have a neighbor that has a J20 setting in his yard rusting away and won't fix it or sell it and a Jeep FC setting in the woods doing the same thing won't sell either a shame they just rusting away.

For the grille, on an M715 I worked on that we couldn't find a gladiator grille for, we cut a piece of expanded steel to shape, bent it in the center and painted it gloss black with a small AMC/Jeep emblem on the lower left corner... Looked pretty FN sharp dude.

22:10 Some pointers and highlights, all good: The front end treatment you did was an excellent decision, the truck now looks completely different, and gives you more tire options. The J20 fenders are an excellent choice, and allows bigger wheels, so not sure naked fenderless is the way to go with crap and rocks more easily getting into the engine compartment to make a hole or get stuck somewhere inside. If you’re beach roving, then ok. An old school 4 round headlight setup would be mint, but the front end set up you already got is excellent. I love that you’re cannibalizing junk parts as Jeep parts are expensive to buy, as you both know very well. The 3 piece bumper might work better if you’re going to put a winch up front and want less chance of the bumper dented, bent, or warped with a one piece bumper. I glad you stuck with the 3 part bumper. Love that you switched to a plain camera lens. That pan shot from kitty to the shop area while mounting it back on the cymbal was excellent. Glad you kept it simple. And the shop looks cleaner with more work area, but that might because of the phase you are in the build. Finally, I was thinking. With all these cannibalized and different parts you added, if you give this build a decent quality paint job I bet it’ll look like a factory one off. People will come up to the truck to scratch their heads in bewilderment to try to figure out what model this actually is, and think WTF?? LOL You guys look okay from the storm. God I hope so. When I LS swapped my 84 Grand Wagoneer, I quickly discovered it was actually much easier and faster to pull the front clip as a unit with a friend than deal with the fenders. Even then, the realignment was a pain with just the few bolts at the doors. "Ol' jeeps never had good body lines from the factory." PREACH! The drip rail on the passenger A pillar on mine is actually crooked and interferes with the top of the front door. The door is square in the hole and aligned perfect with the rear doors, but the two trim pieces still rub at that top corner. AMC be like- "The door functions, doesn't it?!" I kept the pig nosed grill since it was available as a repop. But agree with the others, the Rhino grill looks great on the trucks. I think it would look good with the woodgrain stripped from the doors*edit- you guys are reading my mind* and do a faded patina white over the whole truck. (PS, for that adhesive residue on the molding along with that vinyl, get you one of those 3M Eraser wheels for drills-they work like a charm) Shoot it with some matte clear. Leave the old flag decals on the fenders. Maybe add some similar vintage style shop truck decals to the doors that plug your channel(s). You could also modify that 3 piece bumper with a heavy built center section and a winch for a brute look.

My favorite bodystyle trucks next to squarebody Chevy trucks preferably 1973-1979 with the round headlights. I Remember being a kid and sitting outside my parents house andneyeballing the trucks as my dad had both a 1979 Chevrolet pickup and also a 1986 JEEP J-10 laredo and I could never make up my mind between wich truck I liked more from there looks alone
