Nothing or nobody could ever phase him. You made him play and miss? You clipped his helmet with a bouncer? You got right up in his face? He didn't care. He would take a moment to compose himself and reset. And the same cool, calm and quiet Kallis would be in front of the wicket. I once drove back from work in a really narrow crappy road when an almighty storm hit. It was raining buckets, I couldn't see the road, I could barely see out if my windscreen. Giant pools of water formed and presented a huge hydroplaning hazard. I was young and only had my license for maybe three years at that point. I was definitely terrified and there was this urge to just get the drive over with, as the house was not too far away. Maybe it was the voice of God in that moment, but suddenly I just thought of Kallis. How he won't care how easy of difficult the pitch was, or how aggressive the field was set, or how intense the bowling onslaught was going to be; he was going to remain calm and handle whatever situation. So I calmed myself down, regained my focus and patiently drove home. I think about that day sometimes and 100% credit Kallis for getting me home same.

Yes, but collectively the statistics don't lie and Jacques Kallis is the ultimate G.O.A.T.
@desertstar22316 күн бұрын
@christoels8110 Do you understand and comprehend English? So according to your logic, where would you rate Sir Garfield Sobers? Go look at HIS statistics and compare. Although his statistics are on par with those of Kallis, it was achieved in a different era. So 30 years from now who will be considered the best of all time? Kallis can rightfully be considered to be ONE of the best all round cricketers, not THE best. There are just too many variables to be considered. Your logic is backwards. You're insulting ALL of the other outstanding cricketers of their era.
@christoels811015 күн бұрын
@@desertstar223 Not at all. Why record statistics if in your opinion it counts for nothing as achievements are limited to eras? If we do not have statistics which speak for itself to go by favouritism would probably hail an insignificant player as the greatest of his era because of his popularity. Sir Garfield Sobers was a great player, given, but to maintain such good form for a longer period of time like Jacques Kallis speaks volumes for the greatness of the man. He is still the G.O.A.T. statistically speaking.

A great all rounder in my opnion has to be judge on the position in the batting order he was batting...Kallis scored most of his centuries at either 3 or 4 in positions that he could have taken his time to build an innings with the better batsmen,while Sobers used to bat at either 5 or 6 batting mostly with other all rounders and the lower half of the batting order...the number of tests he played and the frequency he scored centuries..... his average.In the bowling aspect.....,the frequency he took wickets,the different roles he used to bowl and his average However, ,in his latter years of batting,it was said that he was just trying to outdo Tendulkar as far as records are concerned.I did some research on the frequency with which the great batsmen scored their centuries and Bradman was tops followed by Sobers and Kallis coming in at a close third followed by Tendulkar and then Lara.This is also shown up in their averages with Sobers averaging 57.78 in 93 tests and Kallis 55.37 in 166 tests.The closeness in their batting is once again shown in the fact that Kallis score 45 test centuries and had Sobers played 166 test matches his test centuries would have been 46.In bowling department in 166 tests Kallis took 292 wickets average 32.65....econ .rate.2.82,......SR 69.2.....7 four wicket hauls and 5 five wicket hauls while Sobers in his 93 tests took 235 av.34.03 .....econ rate 2.22,..SR 91.9 with 8 four wicket hauls and 6 five wicket hauls and used to bowl in 3 different styles against Kallis' one.This analysis has shown that Sobers was the better allrounder with Kallis coming in at a close second .
