And now piracy for tv shows is making a return, because the streaming companies are getting too fragmented and Netflix is even trying to get rid password sharing, Anime for people who watch is still available nowhere, and region locks are getting more and more common (especially annoying in smaller European countries). Meaning the industry still doesn't get the largest factor is convenience and we are going back to where we started.

It really was all about having a choice, but as others have noticed the more they cut out content and put paywalls around it the more they push their own consumers to the zero income side of things. I find it interesting personally, the whole way the effect of greed has on how the public finds and consumes new content.

Quality video. But only 140 views damn. This feels like I'm watching a video from a popular KZbin channel and I didn't even notice you had 1k subscribers

I thought this video was going to end with commentary on copyright issues related to AI. I feel like that's the next evolution of which a solution needs to be found. Would love to see a follow up to this video on that. Great video though!

There is a viable business model where artists give away mp3 tracks and make their money through live performances. This is actually the historical norm, before recorded music. Musicians made money from live performances. Recorded music changed the equation because it costs money to produce, distribute and retail physical goods, like albums and CDs. Giving away mp3 files is economically viable because mp3 files, as digital goods, have a near near-zero marginal cost of reproduction. Upload your mp3 file and the world can get it for free. Artists get such a small cut from streaming services like Spotify, only the huge names make much money that way.

I still download music just incase everything goes offline, but I listen to spotify or youtube music when im online to support the artists

James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich: "Napster, BAAAD! Don't Steal Our Music!" Everyone Else: "Don't Tread on Me!" (not the Texan phrase, but a pirated MP3 of Metallica's song of the same name being played on their Compaq Pentium 1s)

Keeps them honest, imagine if fuel cost heaps so we downloaded some. That'd be a dream.

I think it's still relatively new? Deserves more views tho and I hope the quality stays the same and they don't end up like Buzzfeed.

Quality video, but that animation (00:54) that you use when doing a transition is EXTREMELY annoying, it's like 30% too long and ruins the flow of the video. Everything else is good though

After spending a week burning my old CDs to MP3, I am wondering why even bother to "own" any music. The only value really is for my old mixtape CDs or rare DJ live recordings
