I feel like big companies like Disney have to be burying other employee or operating expenses in each movie to also save on taxes. I feel like every successful movie can be a place to hide existing expenses. That’s how they can afford to lose money on all their movies.

I saw a 4 pack of orange Celsius in the store a few months ago. Now as a post-grad I've got Celsius at home in the fridge and in my locker for convenience. I look around class and see 2-4 people drinking one during any given day. I didn't realize I was even getting in on something.

The concept of homes being investment vehicles is the problem. 50 years ago everyone saw homes as a place to live. Nowadays there's too many people (and companies, and conglomerates) treating homes like a commodity to be traded.

Accountant here (but not one that serves this industry), but the reason studios can probably get away with this (at least from an accounting standpoint, not necessarily legal) is from a consolidated basis it is a net zero affect. Charge 30% interest to a wholly owned subsidiary and at the consolidated entity (like Warner Brothers or Paramount), that nets to zero. As long as they are disclosing the nature of the transaction (i.e., we have a wholly owned distribution company that assists in distribution of our films that receives a fee for marketing, distributing, etc.) they are good. These sub entities most likely are not getting individual audits, where things like this would potentially get flagged.

Contractors are hired to get around government imposed costs and rules. Some people accept this and hire on. Then government comes in and makes more rules to end the injustice, supposed, these people signed up for voluntarily. Now the companies are experimenting with drones amd self driving cars. Go figure!

I`m new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the opportunities so far. I believe having $450K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the market. I know this sounds a bit dull but I would like to know if I should learn investing or let somebody else (more capable like a FA) do it for me? Please share your thoughts. I am kind of tired of searching for a good coins to buy and losing all the good opportunities.

I see why studios wouldn't want to do this, but couldn't actors insist on contracts that grant them a share when revenue of a movie surpasses $X (where X is the "real cost" of making the movie)? Then, inventing costs wouldn't help.

A director sold his film to Crown International Pictures. The head of Crown was a relatively honest producer, so after the deal was done, the head of Crown said: "Ha! You know what you just did? You sold me a movie for $10,000 that'll make $100,000." The director learned his lesson. The next time, he asked for a portion of the profits. The head of Crown was a relatively honest producer, so after the deal was done, the head of Crown said: "Ha! Do you know what you just did?" He then explained Hollywood accounting, & told the director to ask for "Gross! Gross! Gross!" The director learned his lesson. For his next film, he asked for & got Gross. And they all lived happily ever after, at till the 70's ended & the exploitation market collapsed. True story, tho my quotes may not be exact.

Your analysis is way too one dimensional. You are not accounting for inflation, if you account for inflation and apply that to the stock growth chart you will see that the stock growth is nowhere near as drastic as it appears.

It would only be disruptive to the parasites at the top who (under the current system) pass the cost onto the customer. Yes it would cost them, because if they just updated the domestic refineries then they could not charge you as much with the import excuse (which of couse they tack on their cuts in the form of storing the funds for the exported oil over seas thus robbing America twice over.)
