I watched the original yesterday and it is amazing how well it holds up. I refuse to give this movie any money or attention because what Disney is doing is cultural vandalism with these remakes. Strong words but when you consider that the Little Mermaid original movie was the first movie of the Disney renaissance; it’s importance is second only to Snow White in terms of helping shape Disney. And for them to arrogantly decide they can remake it, disgusting and disgraceful.

I would have loved it if Disney took DANISH representation in this version seriously and put it in good use. Maybe make a whole another animated - but lifelike version, and bring the actual statue of the little mermaid in Denmark alive. Spice the setting with 1800's danish fairytale vibes and pair is with views of the danish coast and the magic of the sea itself. I would have turned it into a masterpiece, I tell ya :P

I think that one could work. It's crazy yes, but the people and the animals aren't crazy, which is the problem in so many of these. YOu have to make talking photo-realistic animals and so on. Stuff that just doesn't work. Atlantis you just need a sort of fun tropical indiana jones movie.
