I bought the game for no other reason than slashing zombies and roaming around. I knew what this game had to offer and i expected nothing else, and given my awareness i would easily rate this game an 8/10. It's great, one of the most fun games i've played in a while. It's refreshing to see a game being so self aware of what it wants to be. It doesn't want to be one of the best games of all time or anything like it ( although the gore is the best i've ever seen ) It just wants to be fun, and it acomplishes that very well. But i would like to see a bigger variety in zombie models, and door physics. That would be nice.

One of the more subtle things that’s amazing about Dead Island 2 is how side quests and exploration are consistently rewarded. Certain spots unlock for quests when you revisit the areas, making the retread have some new stuff. The gore is beautiful. Back in the day Goldeneye had me appreciating little nuances npcs had when walking around or getting shot in various parts of their anatomy. Dead Island 2 raises the bar man. Knee cap snipes blow limbs off. Jaws can be smashed sideways, and guts can spill when slashed through fatty tissue and rib cages. It’s all there, in crazy detail. This game is masterfully put together.

Dead island 2 is probably my favorite zombie that i’ve played in a long time. I always come back to The first Dying Light and Dead Rising Series because of how fun and simple the game mechanics are. Also for how well the game runs and is mostly bug free is kind of crazy considering the state of current gaming. Also btw you’re underrated and funny af bro keep up the solid work!!!

I thought it was boring and repetitive. Also the weapons dont do enough damage and guns dont have nearly enough ammo. It should not take 5 or 6 hits from a fucking axe or sword to kill a zombie.

One of the best things about this game is that the developers can easily add new skill cards and DLC’s, since they have fixed most of the bugs that other games like saints rows/cyberpunk failed to do. I’ve only had some minor issues with dead island 2 so far; nothing that spoiled the game for me. I also think the optimization is pretty good, maybe because the game is split into districts that load faster. I do wish the doors would close manually though; that’s a bit annoying. I got bored at some points, but I always found something new to motivate me to continue playing until the end. I liked the side missions; they felt relevant and rewarding. They gave me some nice rewards/weapons, but I won’t spoil which ones. My only other complaint is that the map can be hard to read sometimes, but it’s not a big deal. I’m happy that the game runs smoothly on my pc. What keeps me playing this game is the variety of zombie models. Every zombie look different and wear different clothes, so it feels like I’m killing a new person every time. Unlike dying light 2, where you see the same renegades/zombies over and over again. The game also deserves more recognition and better reviews for its graphics, in my opinion. I loved that the developers kept the same Dead Island vibe, for example using the same weapon layout UI, which is good because then I don’t have to learn something new. It’s also quite relevant to the game. The game is easy to learn and has some good moments that I love personally. The story might not be the best one, but not really the worst one either. In conclusion, I think dead island 2 did a good job making Dead Island 2 feel like a Dead Island game, which is why it’s so successful in many ways in my opinion. I don’t have to go into a game and learn a whole new system or mechanics. I can just enjoy the familiar and fun gameplay of killing zombies with different weapons and skills. I give this game a 7.5-8/10 for its graphics, optimization, variety, and replay value. I also hope that the developers will release new expansions in the future that will add new areas and more zombies to the game.

Which I think a lot of reviews ignore all the time, they just use the common tactic to compare dying light 2 and dead island 2, which is two different games and even though it's fun to compare them in some ways, it shouldn't be the thing that decides if the game is good or not, as you are not getting anything out of it at times. Sometimes, comparing games can be distracting or irrelevant to the review. Some reviewers might overdo the comparison and lose sight of the main purpose of the review, which is to evaluate the game itself, which is when I get a problem with Reviewers. An example of reviewers I've heard said in terms of Dead island 2: Dying Light 2 is better than Dead Island 2 just because it is an open-world game is not a fair or valid argument. It ignores the fact that different games can have different designs and appeals. It also assumes that open-world games are inherently superior to other types of games, which is not true. It also does not take into account the quality or execution of the open-world feature in Dying Light 2, or the possible advantages or disadvantages of not having an open-world feature in Dead Island 2.

Back in the day I would call Remake 2 the best zombie game PURELY because zombies had 2 models inside them, regular and a “damaged” model that created the illusion of “insane realism, bullet damage showcased” but in reality it was the Damaged Model starting to showcase. Now with Dead Island 2 I need to bite my tongue cause the gore system is a new Benchmark for games. Very glad this game came out of development hell stronger than ever!

The thing I love about it. It knows you're hear for the carnage, gore and slaying hordes of the undead. I spent a good couple hours running around with brass knucks just because the animations was soo satisfying. But thwacking a zom zom in the knees and watching it take flight is still my most favorite thing ever.

Finally, somebody is shedding light on this, DI2 is a fucking masterpiece. Everyone bitchs about the story but the story was amazing it's a zombie game that takes a different approach. The story is deep when you get into it. Fr DI2 is in my top 5 games of all time, I have never got any bugs or anything. Nowadays the gaming industry it's so hard to get a well-done put together game and DI2 did it. I was never a Last of Us fan tbh that shows we are all different and like different games. There’s literally nothing that makes this game unique… not a single thing. Combat is dogshit it feels like you have bricks tied to your wrists, if there’s one game I could compare the combat to it would be The Forest 2015. Guns are clunky and incredibly weak on top of the animations being one of the worst in this generation, not even the original dying light had fun animations this bad. The story is dogshit no surprise there. The game is incredibly short for a full price game. I don’t see how people are defending this piece of garbage cashgrab for any other reason than their standards being lower than Bidens sagging wrinkly testicles, this shit has nothing that makes it fun or interesting it’s literally just back 4 blood 3 without co-op

Story is decent and gameplay as juicy, but it nowhere as deep/meaningful as the one of Dying Light world-building wise. And that is ok. An average person would be happier with a tasty yummy burger than a few drops of sophisticated flavors on a plate. But that is not how good critics assess the food. BECAUSE Dead Island 2 appeals to a common denominator, a simple, brainless, quality fun, it is kinda expected that it won’t be treated as profoundly by critics. Because critics look for different things when assessing the games. And both perspectives are valid. It is just so that assessment of a critic is NOT APPLICABLE to the assessment of a typical consumer, because they look for different things. Burger/complex French cuisine situation.

Loving it. It has smaller scale feel to it like Far Cry Blood Dragon or Far Cry New Dawn but just like those games it has more than enough stuff to do. Very fun game. From how I remember the hype being around dead island 1 and my expectations being crushed just to go back and play with friends numerous times, I can't sugercoat how fucking fun this game is. I think im like 75-80% done with it, but me and my friend pretty much only played the main story and I only regret playing Bruno over Ryan (I started with ryan alone and he's now easily my favorite) and not doing enough side quests. I cant even really sum up how cool the game is, between the graphics, gore, the combat actually being somewhat challenging, even though the story seems short, I feel it's what ive needed out of a zombie game for a while. They did what they were trying very hard to do very well, the gore, details to almost everything visually, honestly i love the dialogue too. This games honestly a lot better than i expected it to be. Also you gained a sub.

Exactly. Just because somebody is titled a critic does not mean that they are good critics, or apply their standards to average consumer. Good critics value different thing in food (subtlety and profoundness of it, intricacies in cooking etc) than a normal hungry person that wants to fill up on something yummy and good price-per-value. I understand why Cyberpunk is highly valued by them (since it IS deep and a design-wise masterpiece), but Dead Island 2 is not (since it is a silly game with a story as shallow as beaches of LA). But how the game is constructed (lore, purpose) and how it FEELS to run around in are different things. Common denominator (most people) will be happier with Dead Island 2 due to it’s simplicity and smoothness, as opposed to something as intricate as Cyberpunk.

I really felt alone with this but im glad ive found someone who appreciates this game as much as i do. I beat the main story the other day and just wrapped up all the side missions today as Amy and absolutely loved my time with the game. Sure it only has about 30-40hrs of content but i would MUCH rather have 40hrs of polished content that doesnt feel like a chore to go through than 300+hrs of repetitive sludge that nearly every other open world game has. And speaking of which, I'm genuinely glad DI2 isnt open world and is more linear, because it allowed them to add way more details to the environment.

If the game released on Steam, I think the mediocre critic score wouldn't matter nearly as much. There are plenty of examples of games on Steam, even extremely popular ones like ARMA 3 or No Man's Sky, which have 90%+ user review scores but terrible critic scores.

User reviews are not a good metric, dawg. User reviews are most of the time incredibly biased. Like, of course the guy who played a particular game for 1k hours will give it a good score. Also, the reason why No Man's Sky has terrible critic scores is because all those reviews are from 2016.

What i love about the game is that its so beautiful to look at and so colorful and bright. Most zombies games are dim and dark colors, to match the Atmosphere. Glad that i can stop a look at how bright and amazing this game looks while killing zombies. Whole mood changer.

For me DI2 and DI1/riptide honestly feel like two totally different games for me! DI2 is a nice improvement and I guess I keep forgetting the DI1/riptide story is canonically over but I just wish there was so more lore and connections to Banoi and palanai. I think the maps were so much fun but felt MUCH smaller than the first two games. I also wish there was more Easter eggs and hidden things to find like how you can find the skulls in DI1. I’m hoping the DLC is just as big if not bigger than the core game/storyline. Maybe it’s the younger me screaming out but I can’t help but feel like I could spend all day on the shores of Banoi! Those four maps from the first game just felt so big and expansive to me!

my take after just completing the story-- the game is a bit rushed and I dont like that they removed the original perk system entirely making you have the same amount of inventory and other little things the entire game. I think blade weapons definitely have durability issues at times. my number one complaint that no matter what they do will always drop my rating at least 3 points to 7 is the fact that Sam B doesnt look or even sound close to the one we know and love. and at the end of the game with the final slaughter cutscene it shouldnt be a cutscene. SPOILERS AHEAD they should have had you turn to the gate and it gets smashed in and it should give you control with sams hammer and his song should be playing high volume while you slaughter the last group. I have a zombie army and you cant harm me, who do you voodoo bitch?

And that is ok. Critics’s perspective is valid as well. People just need to remember that critic’s opinion does not apply to common denominator consumers: They look for different things. Kinda like with food critics. Food critics look for complexity and flavor (aka complex French cuisine)….. Their disinterest in simple stuff does not imply that a common person won’t enjoy it. A common person would eat a belly-filling burger with lot’s of ketchup/sauce any day long over a less price-for-value efficient food. But that is ok. Both opinions are valid. Just remember that either does not apply to the different group of enjoyers, since they assess based on different criteria.

i bought this game just for killing zombies, farming weapons and roaming around, thats what i did in dead island 1 and i loved it.. there will always be people wo dont understand this... and on the other hand, the last of us is a good example. for me, this franchise so so god damn boring, that i never finished none of these titels... its so disgusting being trappend in small linear levels while the wohle game is just one big dialog, giving the player nearly no freedom... i seriously dont get it why people think the last of us is a masterpiece, its just boring and trash for me.. dead island 2 is fun, its a good zombie game, but still not near as good as the legendary dying light 1...

Dead Island 2 is the first game in a while in which I was having fun while playing it. Most games feel like a chore to play, but I can play this game without feeling like a banana decomposing in a dumpster. I usually ignore how good or bad writing is in a game because that's not what I'm playing for. The game was definitely short, no doubt, but I can see myself replaying it more than once. I bet half the critics either didn't even play the game or try to have a bit of fun in it. I don't even need to mention the visuals and gore.

dead island 2 is honestly a big let down that not every weapon can be a legendary, also that there is no legendary system like the other 2 games where it was guranteed every 5 hours also you can't restart the story, there is litttle to no side quest, this game has 34 total side quest and 15 lost and founds in dead island 1 the first chapter on the resort of banoi there is a total of 32, that's jus the resort alone excluding the city of morsby, the sewers the first jungle, the second jungle, and the third jungle, also the prison, also the blue prints are pratically given to you as they're at every workbench you find unlike the other games where you actcually have to EXPLORE, and find secret areas, as in dead island 2 it's just too linear, ANOTHER THING, the zombie sound design isn't as terrifying as the other games we're but ik not a lot of people care about sound but I do, also they left out some favorite zombies like who doesn't miss the RAM? those things were badass, the thugs that would RUN in riptide, the drowners, the wrestler, and the grenaider, also EVERY CHARACTER'S FURY IS THE DAMN SAME!?!? everyone has SAM B's fury from the other dead islands pratically, what happend to the creativity?! for example they could'be had dani use a special sledgehamemr since she's a heavy hitter. I could probably think of more later but this is all for now lol

It’s a fun game no doubt about that. But after basically doing everything in the game I can sorta see why it’s a 7/10 or 8/10 game. Playing on pc you can tell the game was made for consoles due to the ui and controls which after a while get quite annoying. Things like having to click every time I want to increase the amount of items I sell by one instead of having to hold down and watch the number go brrrrr. There’s no shift click move for quick movement of items to and from the inventory. The story is also a bit strange as in its followable and enjoyable up until mission 20+ where it just seems like a different studio for the story at the end of the game it just went off road from there. Gameloop is fine, only issue I had was the butchers blade hands had a massive hit box making it hard to headshot or leg shot, also special zombies being straight up immune to a specific damage type is fine but it shouldn’t nullify all the damage a weapon does especially when I don’t do bleed damage until the entire bar is filled up after 3-4 hits. Also no vehicle driving especially on Venice beach loses a point for me automatically.

Completely ignoring how this games combat is far better AND more realistic and I really think someone needed to bring attention to that. My only complaint about the game is not having that much to do after. However that’s the great thing about DLC’s free or paid to continue the game

Look, I played it, granted I liked it alot. It was not what I was hoping for but it is a very sound game. With how many games I play that have glitches or bugs, this game was actually solid. I can't remember a single bug in the game. My playthrough was clean. Like hogwarts legacy, very few games come out like this one. All games should strive to feel this mechanically and structurally sound. The next most recent would be atomic heart and re4, this fucking games I found no glitches. More games should strive for this.

@@Optimusprime56241 must be a u problem never had issues with guns sights were fine then again I rarely used them hip fire was better for most situations and the damage can be very good either with acid or shredding rounds as for melee depends on your build but again I rarely had issues

thats the standard now though, so many people were awaiting the game for so long that they had some kind of amazing master piece in their heads and CD projekt red kind of exacerbated that issue, especially with all the bugs, personally I didn't encounter as many as others did day one but I still loved the story and the combat was fun.

Advice for your next video, keep politics out of it. I'm believe game's are solely created as an escape from reality. But on to dead island 2, it should get game of the year. Maybe that will piss in these companies coffee for releasing unfinished broken game's over and over again. Dead island 2 gets game of the year because it came out the oven finished.....

DI2 does nothing new, that's why it reviewed badly. It's a game that looks like it's from the mid 2010s, with everything copied over from either the first two DI games or taken from other, similar games. All culminating in a game that is nothing more than your average "kill zombie, pick up quest item" formula. I was looking forward to it till I heard it's going to be EGS-exclusive, which usually means that they know it won't sell well. Then I saw the gameplay reveal a few weeks or whatever it was prior to launch. What did I see? A game that stutters randomly, with GFX from the mid 2010s, that does nothing new. It's a shame the Yager build of DI2 didn't make it, because that game looked a lot more promising compared to this abomination of a game. No standards and buyer's remorse, that's all I am getting from this video. The typical cope, just like with XBots and Redfall and every other game that fails to deliver.
