We had the same problem with our two dogs-killing our animals, killing neighbors pets, climbing the fence, even got off every chain we tried. We tried and tried to train them but ultimately had to rehome them. It was a hard decision to make but ultimately the right one. Wishing you every joy with the new puppy! He is so sweet 💜

I knew it!!! I said this a week ago! I had a feeling after the chicken's were attacked that you would get a livestock guardian dog and then Jason said something along the lines of stay tuned on where the pups went and I said I bet The Sawyer's get a pup and l was right! I'm so happy for you both! Your little Moses is adorable and I bet this little mix breed will be the best LGD! It is an absolutely adorable pup and I am sure you already love him dearly. I dont mean this is any harmful way so please dont take it the wrong way. A livestock guardian dog isnt just a dog you raise with your livestock. All different breeds have different criteria's they full fill within their breed. There for you may have taken on a whole heep of problems with a mutt as he might be having hunting dog in him and he wont be able to fight that no matter how long he lives with the goats. It is pure instinct. I am sorry I have to carry bad news but I know a lot about dogs. I have had dogs in my life for the better part of 35 years and owned my own dogs for the past 24 years. I would be happy to suggest some good breeds if you still want to get one. I can also suggestion some you tube vloggers from small farms that has livestock guardian dogs so you can pick up from their experience. I do have the very best intentions.

I am so happy for you guys. I had a Basset hound and he was the most amazing dog I have ever had. Since he came to me at six week old I was able to train he with my Emus and out side cats. We called him our Nannie dog. When you sow him out side, he be lain down with a bunch of kittens on top of him. It those not matter what kind of dogs they are. A mix makes good dogs. I knew Bandit would have beautiful pups and I thought about asking him since I'm close, but just not time for me yet. Good info from ya'll for later, though. Lived in the country growing up and we got a brother and sister Chow Chow. The female wouldn't stop going after the neighbor's chickens. The male was so laid back and stayed on the porch. We could've kept him, but we weren't fast enough and she taught him her ways, we had to give them both away. Good lessons about dogs. God Bless you two, thank you for sharing this❤️

I trained my little Sophie to guard the bantam hens. The first command was "LEAVE IT". She was quick to bark and alert me to a sneaky cat on the prowl. One day a hawk dove down to get a hen and I screamed for my husband. The Bantams scattered and we hurried to get them into the coop. After roll call, I realized that Mama hen Lucy was missing. We searched for a long time and I cried. We finally locked the coop for the night and came inside to find Lucy sitting on the rug next to Sophie our fierce 5 pound Papillon. Train Moses well and he will be a wonderful PROTECTOR for the homestead. Blessings and Prayers from South Louisiana.

Good to get them young. I got a part Border Collie puppy at 8 weeks old when I was working on a dairy farm she was working the cows when she 10 weeks or so old she was a good cattle dog. After she got the cow in the corral she would not bark anymore she would come in the barbed and not make a sound she picked it all up on her own. She came out there with me one day and it was like she said oh I know what I need to do a started doing it. She was given to my daughter but my daughter was born about the same day she was so they grow up together she was a good watch dog for our daughter to. She had some puppies when they were two years old my daughter would set on her and play with the puppies. You'll stay safe and God bless.
