I don't think anyone would expect the Crow to look light and colourful - it's dark, gritty look is part of the film's aesthetic andwould lose a lot of they erased that. But just to see it looking sharper without so much black crush will be awesome! Must admit, I was a bit worried about Ocean's 13 as the previous releases had a very weird and heavy grain structure, I thought it might be hugely exacerbated by a 4k release but the screenshots look pretty good. My personal favourites in order would be:- 13, 11 and 12 - although I never really understood the hate that 12 attracted - I used to hear some people absolutely hated it - it had a different style but it was still a damn good film. Thanks for another great video. Love your work!

☝️I agree, I never 🤷‍♂️understood why there was so much dislike for Ocean’s 12 as a movie it’s very entertaining & has good acting, humor & story twists that keep you engaged the whole time!! 💥💥Gotta say though, after watching them again in this amazing 4K💿 image & sound quality I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 of the Ocean’s films more than I ever did previously before & I actually just started watching them again from the beginning again last night for the second time on 4K💿!! James you are the best as usual. I just got The Crow 4K and your review is spot on. I really appreciate that unlike some reviewers you clearly articulate when the way a movie looks was the intent of the creators be it the director or cinematographer. The Dolby Vision really popped and I loved seeing the gritty feel as it was in the theater.

@InSearchofPhysicalMedia It certainly seems like the upgrade to 'The Crow' is a vast improvement given your comparative images and overall review, and based on my initial love of the 'poorer' quality disks, I am very likely to purchase the set. The Ocean's movies were okay, but not something that I watch over and over again, and classic westerns are good, but I have very few that are repeat watches for me. I'm more of a war, spy, and action movie person. Thank you for your reply and the time taken to respond. Much appreciated. Take care.

😕So not sure what films you’re referring to because I reviewed 5 different films on 4K💿 in this video so saying “both of these” isn’t very specific LOL!!!😂 JK! Hmm, I may have to buy the oceans 12 steelbook, the only slight hold up I have is that I never really liked the story in oceans 12, but I may need to give it a quick watch… I already ordered the 11 and 13 steel books, but I could add 12… hmm, some more thoughts could be helpful, from others as well, though… I just want to add, I own the trilogy in their iTunes digital copy… which means I will already have each film, I am just not sure if I want to spend nearly 30-40 bucks on oceans 12…. I would of also loved if they added a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X track, but I guess I can only hope, or wish they would have done that…

I’d appreciate a better guide to your scoring system. It’s hard to reconcile the description of technical problems on the Crowe with a 9/10. For example - if a 4K had technical issues but was still the best home release of the film available, is that enough to overlook the flaws? What would it take for a 4K disc to score less than an 8/10?

🤨Sorry but whoever you got that false info from clearly can not be trusted, because that’s NEVER🚫 EVER been the case for the Ocean’s films on 4K UltraHD💿 & in all the press releases directly sent from WB from the very beginning they NEVER had plans & NEVER announced any Dolby Atmos mix for the Ocean’s 4K’s💿 Also, for these brand new 4K restorations & the new audio restoration Warner Bros. had always announced & planned these as a brand new lossless 🔊DTS HD MA 5.1🔊 audio restoration work!! ❓Are you excited for all 3 Ocean’s films after watching my in-depth reviews??❓ Do you love collecting limited edition SyeelBooks???❓ 😉Hope this helps!!👌

Dolby Vision requires licensing. HDR10 is open source... And unless your face is up against the screen there is not a difference anyway.

@@jarjared3522 I will have to disagree with that let's just take two movies for example once upon a Time in Hollywood Ford versus Ferrari I can easily see the difference between Dolby Vision version and the hdr10 and then I'm streaming the Dolby vision version on Apple TV and still the Dolby Vision version looks better.

I ordered my 4k The Crow steelbook about 2 months ago but the artwork is different here in Europe!...im expecting it in about 10 days!

The only thing they should have done is digitally erase the wire that is seen when one of the bad guys falls in the meeting/massacre scene. Too much grain, strange color at times and even vertical stripes in a few shots on one corner of the frame. An overrated botched transfer.

Really wish the Crow had Dolby Atmos or TrueHD. My system downmixes dts to 2.1 channels eventhough I have 5.1. This is not the films problem but moreso mine.... Also the reason I was very disappointed with Samsung sound systems

I went with the steelbook of the oceans trilogy..pretty much an LE fomo buy since I've only seen 11. And saves shelf space too But I look forward to the grain! Imo as great as Contagion looks, it being so grain-free and pristine isn't the most appropriate for its concept. I feel like a more organically filmic look would've grounded it more. It's *so* sharp and pristine that it practically feels sterile enough to undermine the natural threat somewhat.
