Nooo I'm so pissed, honestly the crow should've lived, and died W/Brandon Lee. He died making it for God's sakes. The OG was a masterpiece. Why does Hollywood mess everything up!!!!??

Hollywood hates all the heroes from earlier generations. Star Wars, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Mad Max, etc... its all being rewritten to the woke value set, which is generally destroying culture anyhow, so I'll just ignore this remake and watch the original again when I feel like watching a good movie.

If you know the history on why the book was made in the first place, its even more disrespectful to make shelly a junkie. It was also very important to the story that shelly, this "perfect, beautiful flower" is killed in a senseless act of violence, rather than something she brought on herself with her degenerate lifestyle.

Yeah, Eric and Shelly were murdered because they were the tenets that stood up to the mob boss that was trying to free the building for his own purposes. They were used as the example for everyone else. The first Crow movie was great. The rest are 'meh'. I have no clue why they would attempt to remake it. Outside of 'what else can we ruin from the 80s/90s?'

The fact that it makes you depressed/ angry is the point. Hollywood knows it’ll be hated and bomb at the box office. It’s a form of psychological warfare to destroy and tarnish every piece of art/entertainment that you enjoy. The more mentally worn down the population is the easier they are to control. And as we all know, Hollywood is just a vehicle for the elites agendas (ie: the WEF).

Shelly in the original was a wonderful person. The kind of woman you could easily see a man clawing his way out of the grave to avenge. And Eric was a wonderful guy. You can easily see him clawing his way out of the grave to avenge his fiance. Their personalities made it easy to suspend disbelief about the technically absurd premise. Without those elements, your mind immediately sees that the premise is absurd and refuses to suspend disbelief for the sake of the story. That kills this kind of story. You need something emotional to make you push aside the "wait, that's ridiculous" part of your brain. The original had it. The remake soooooo does not have that.

I watched this movie couple times when I was a kid, it was airing on the TV. As a kid it was quiet a bizarre movie and I thought the MC is kinda like an antihero cause he brutally killed all his murderer as a vengeance, but one scene that still stuck in my head is when she helped the female addict who slept with one of his target. I think the scene kinda try to remind the audience that despite all the brutality of his killing, he only kill the people that deserve it, the people who kill and raped his fiancee. it was an interesting movie and very goth.

You hot the nail on the head. The heart and soul of the original movie was Eric and Shelly’s relationship. How they were truly good people, deeply in love, having had something horrific happen to them. Eric loves her so much that upon returning he goes on a killing spree to avenge HER and what did they did to HER, not him. And you can see the heartbreaking loss, sadness and rage in Lee’s amazing performance. The original move was first and foremost a love story, told through the prism of love.

In 94 Shelly was killed because they were standing up for themselves and neighbors by fighting against the evictions. They were good, ethical people, in love, and living meaningful life. THAT is why the injustice was so great that Eric was thrust back from the dead by otherworldly forces through his vessel, the crow. The reasoning for the motivation is powerful. Good people weren’t allowed to complete their journey together because of evil people. The act was so grievous and despicable a power (call it mystical, god, the universe, whatever) saw fit to send forth Eric as its weapon of vengeance in the name of love.

I mean how great was the scene with Eric and Darla. Where he grabs her after killing Funboy. Forcing her to look at herself in the mirror and says, "Mother is the name of God on the lips and hearts of all children." As the drug is coming out of her arm. But as for how/ why. They were supposed to be getting evicted or something cause the main bad guy wanted the property. They didn't leave so the main villain sends his goons to get rid of them. They raped and beat Shelly and shot and threw Eric out a window. Also the intro sets up the movie perfectly. With the girl giving the legend about how crows carry the souls to the afterlife. As for the supernatural villain part I think they had something similar in the 2nd or 3rd movie. Where the guy tried to take the Crows powers. I think some of the best scenes in The Crow (1994) where were he played around with the bad guys because he couldn't die.

I appreciate you all torturing yourself by watching the remake. I'm a big fan of the original and the soundtrack. I probably would have avoided this one, but you all just really convinced me not to bother at all. 😂 I feel Bret's pain. @jeremyrichard2722

I heard the same thing, and wil be avoiding this one. To be fair while some of the novels were decent, I think only the first "Crow" movie was actually good, and I've heard this one was worse than all the other attempts at it. That said, my understanding of the movie version was that Eric Draven was a nice guy who had come into a bad neighborhood after becoming a rock star and was using his money to fix the place, and the criminals who murdered him and raped his girlfriend were resisting his "gentrification" as the term goes, as it threatened their power in that neighborhood in the city. It wasn't random crime, but them being specifically targeted by criminals. This is why a Native American spirit brought him back from the dead to "set the wrong things right", avenging his girlfriend was part of it, but not his sole motive, despite him having her on his brain being a part of it, and the suffering she went through being weaponized in the final confrontation when the main bad guy figures out how to actually fight him, so he's not invincible anymore. That's how I remember the movie at any rate, but yeah... one person I know who saw this one was telling me they didn't get why a spirit of justice and vengeance would bring this guy back or champion this cause above all others on the one night of the year it can choose a battle to fight. If of all the horrible things that would have been happening, it chooses to get involved in that, you have to wonder what it's standards are. I mean in the original "Crow" it wasn't just personal, while not said directly, taking out all those butt heads also meant he would have basically saved the city they were terrorizing, he just had a very personal motive on top of that... so he was a perfect tool for the spirit. Again, that's how I always thought of it.

James O'Barr's reason for writing the original comic was essentially an exercise in therapy. You guys should look into the creator of The Crow, J. O’Barr. It’s a story of his life based off a graphic novel that was nothing like the OG movie but it was the torment he went through losing his wife in a hit and run. You tube has a video all about it.

Hollywood needs to leave The Crow alone. We only acknowledge Brandon Lee's Crow and that's it. ❤ I refuse to watch anything label The Crow and have interest in watching it...I'm going to pop in my dvd and watch the original. Years later I still quote all the lines from the movie...😢Brandon was perfect, The Crow and everyone in it were amazing...will always be a classic.

Maybe this movie is itself the murder and rape of the *original* Crow, after which a new movie will come out, symbolizing Eric coming back to life, to avenge the murder of the original.

The city itself from the original was a character of its own :) It is a gothic representation of dark and violent Detroit in the most beautifully executed way :) this remake feels like a boring John Wick movie. I won’t be watching this trash where crackheads are the supposed heroes?! Fuck that!

Dude, Brett is ON IT. I am officially not watching this. I cannot figure out why Hollywood won't use any other The Crow Stories, man. Eric isn't The Crow. The Crow has used so many interesting people. Even reincarnation from The Civil War. Like, it was MADE to mini-series.

Ikr! Hollyweird using ANY OTHER Crow storyline would have given this film a much better chance than one where they recycled Eric Draven!

I'd like to think a cool nostalgia grab would be "big trouble in little China." Why not big trouble in little Tokyo? Or Russia? But in the end what they would create would suck.

OG Crow holds up better than most movies made within the last 5 years. It didn't need a reboot. The only reason a reboot was made was to try to erase the original. It failed. Woke culture failed. The woke mind virus is absolutely real and infects everything it touches.

Hollyweird by doing this unnecessary "remake" only solidified the OG Crow's status!

This movie is so bad it would have been better if they just made it shot by shot of the original. I mean you can take the premise of John Wick put The Crow in it and there you go. Lets say the Jason Mamoa version was this story Jason is a mechanic mainly bikes to make it more badass with a wife and son. Then late night he and his family gets murdered, we see his soul in purgatory, Death gives him a chance to get revenge and justice for his family. Gets back to life, goes back to his home same as the scene from the original with all the flash backs of his memory with his family and even for fan service lets put the mime mask which he will now take inspiration for his face paint, sees his coat, grabs a weapon lets say a typical garrage hammer and a shotgun, rides on his motorcycle and while riding a Crow flies above him to the people who took his family. This all happens within 15mins of the film. Let's say it's not Jason Momoa same actors it still would be better than watching this " THE CROW" movie. People did not need to see their entire love story, which os is another problem as itself they were together for only a couple of days! Another simple way to fix it blank screen (pause) enter 2 words "YEARS LATER"! This movie is so frustrating.

I'm already biased against this movie for more than one reason. For one thing, I just can't buy Bill Skarsgard as this character. I honestly don't know who I would buy as that character these days. And now that I know what they've done with the story, my suspicions are confirmed. I feel bad for James O'Barr.

If you separate this one from the original, it's not bad, just not good. Some bad writing, some bad lines, a love story that is more of a "lust story" but at times was creative.

Okay, I get that it was a very frustrating remake, but I don't think it's the worst film of the year. It's not even the worst movie of the summer lineup. 'Borderlands 'Madame web' and 'Imaginary' were all much worse movies. 😂

I feel your frustration. This new Crow attempt is a massive failure. Flat, boring....directionless. I'm still shocked at how bad the script was. The opera scene was desperately overdone. The love connection did not work at all. The host character who dwelled in the gray middle -world was painfully uninteresting, slow motion scenes included Did Skarsgard lose a bet? How the hell did he agree to do this? The ending? Based on the ending, did the events in the film even taken place????
