I’m black and not a Star Wars fan but to act like everyone is racist or sexist for criticizing the Acolyte or not watching it is just so stupid. First of all, audiences aren’t obligated to consume product. Two, they kept antagonizing and alienating fans by saying things like the fanbase is misogynistic, is problematic for not having much female characters, and that their goal was to make white people mad. The director, actresses, and Disney shills who say that stuff can’t get pissy when the fanbase in return refuses to give the show a chance and choose hate on it. Its like saying fans are sexist for attacking Brie Larson and She Hulk after they kept attacking and taking jabs at men and calling people anti Semitic for making jokes about Sarah Silverman and Seth Rogen being Jewish in response to them mocking Christmas. These people chose to hit out at groups. They can’t cry bigotry when those groups hit back.

Disney may slowly be waking up to just how far Star Wars has fallen, but this is nowhere near sufficient if you want to bring the fans back. Here's what you'd need: 1) Fire Kathleen Kennedy and her cronies. Not tomorrow, not after breakfast, now. Every day they're still there means more fans flee the ship. 2) Remove The Acolyte from D+ 3) De-canonize the sequels. 4) De-canonize Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Book of Boba Fett. 5) Cancel The Rey Movie. 6) Start working on projects fans actually want: alternative versions of the OT so we don't have to watch the Special Editions (but preserve those for fans who love them). Contact Mark Hamill and get an actual director on a movie featuring Luke Skywalker post-ROTJ; cast a younger actor if you want to go for an earlier time period, but make sure it's someone who can do the role justice, like Sebastian Stan. And get a quality director who values storytelling, not an inexperienced activist or someone with an axe to grind (Christopher Nolan is a huge Star Wars fan and would probably jump at the chance to save the franchise). 7) Ask Tony Gilroy if there's anything else he wants to do because Andor is the one quality project Lucasfilm has produced under Kathleen Kennedy. They need to get going. Willow is dead. Indiana Jones is dead. Star Wars is on life support. Cancelling The Acolyte is a band-aid, and the franchise needs a triple bypass, a complete blood transfusion, and multiple organ transplants.

What is hilarious here is how the biggest hush money pay off in recorded history just took place and no one talks about it. Harvey spent time with all of these people, intimately-privately, over decades. Headland was there, facilitating, for all of them, throughout all of it. This show was never meant to be 'good' or successful.

What gets me about the excuses and cope the shills are putting out is the amount of nonsensical, unreal things they're saying. The amount of delusion is astonishing. These are indeed the "fans" Disney invented and courted, and they only exist on social media and can't help them turn a profit or get enough people to watch. As a legacy SW fan, which these Disney spawns think they are bemusingly, we've been shown the door ages ago. Those who stayed were quite patient and charitable, but now even the normies have caught on to this garbage Disney is putting out. Alot of legacy guys who left a long time ago knew where this was going and warned everyone. I, personally, was completely out by the first sequel movie, and didn't care since. Now we're here. Honestly, the coping from these shills is glorious, however awful the demise of the franchise is.

I laugh at fans of The Acolyte blame everyone else for it getting cancelled, when it was a simple numbers game all along...not enough of them showed up to watch and/or shilled out for official merch. At the end of the day Disney loves money more than anything else, they invest $180m into season 1 and they felt they didn't get their investment back so they cancelled it. Best case scenario is they felt it was just barely worth the $180m, but Season 2 of shows like The Acolyte are always more expensive than season 1 and they knew that whatever that larger number would be wasn't worth the investment so they pulled the plug. Simple as that.

Breaking Bad was broadly watched on its first episode because it premiered on a network dedicated to classic, praised cinema that was losing money. AMC needed to generate more viewers and, at the time, releasing a series independent of the network’s common programming changed the format of cable television series in the process.

We don't have the AMC channel here in the UK, but we did get Breaking Bad eventually on Netflix and then Better Call Saul. Watched both back in the day, was easier to binge watch Breaking Bad than waiting a week for each episode.

One thing about the Acolyte's cancellation I don't think I've heard anyone bring up is how it was originally announced. My memory of the finer points is kind of hazy, but they announced it via Twitter a few days before ComicCon or D23 or...something where a show would usually be announced. I remember at the time the prevailing theory was that Kennedy or someone high up at Lucasfilm had gone behind Iger/Disney's back and put the latter in a position where they had to either move forward with the show or be accused of not supporting diversity (and don't forget, too, this was back when Disney had money to burn and cancel culture was a very real threat). All that said, Acolyte's cancellation is definitely a win for good taste, but I wonder if Disney never really had any intention of supporting this show long-term to begin with.

Wreck-It-Ralph II. That was my kind of wake-up call. It was jarring what Disney was pushing in the children's film. And once you see the message, you can't unsee it. Also there's a disconnect. Sometimes this channel is cynical on films that I end up enjoying. And that's fine - the point is I'm responsible for what I watch. For Disney, I cancelled the membership because I wasn't watching it and BIGGER than that, nobody in my house was. Disney today is, as Stan Edgar said a few years ago, "Bad Product." And they've had so many bad projects now that if not for the internet or random challenge like even this, I wouldn't even know what they are releasing.

Guys, there is no SW canon anymore. They stated (and showed) from The Force Awakens that they were going their OWN way with the movies. All the books and other media were discarded back then. As for the current "canon" based on Disney's perspective, I think that they lost track of following their OWN, "newfangled" canon once THE LAST JEDI was released. It obviously shattered what JJ Abrams was trying to establish, so from then onward, I think it's silly to worry about "following canon", from the movies to the shows, and the (discarded from the start) novels/comics before TFA. Disney didn't follow their own goals, and it's comparable to following the DCU. Kneejerk reactions, constant shifting and pivoting in immediate reaction to criticism, thus destroying the initially established "canon" of the IP before it had a chance to even gain a foothold and move forward In The Long Run.
