"I thought I'd use your front door." Honestly, one of the greatest scenes in the history of movies. An absolutely incisive moment, wonderfully but simply written, and brilliantly acted by Brandon. It shows that this guy who has been resurrected and given insane abilities and is, to quote Brandon himself, quite mad at times, is still a person. And he wanted to feel that for a moment by doing something as utterly mundane as using a door. Absolutely brilliant.

Actually it may not be an acting thing but more a Brandon thing. In the documentaries it was stated that Bruce, never drank any alcoholic beverages and that during scenes of The Big Boss, he improvised drunk scenes by playing characters that never touched the stuff before. Same could be said about Brandon. Granted Bruce died before Brandon became old enough to start drinking odds are, that habit rubbed off on him.

You can feel the grief. It's so profound! At that moment, these two started being really good friends...which I guess some might find strange, a living human being, being a true friend to someone who has already died...and yet, is right there with him, talking to him...and giving him the best advice that there is. Eric is telling him that nothing is trivial. What Eric is saying, of course, is that everything is important. Everything! He's also telling Officer Albrecht, concerning the Officer's Wife, to love her, no matter what, and to hold onto her, and to set their differences aside, and love each other for all that they're worth. Never let go, ever! Eric knows about loss...not only the loss of his own life, but the agonizing pain and struggle that his fiance, Shelley, went through for 30 hours, before she died. Eric loved Shelley like no other! That's why he told Officer Albrecht to love his Wife, and to never let her go. Eric knows the ultimate pain of being separated from someone that he loved more than life itself!

The thing about this scene which you can't make the same is how sincere, calm, and sad it is. It seems more natural then most films now that overacted this seems more like too average people talking about a sad tragedy and connecting which makes this scene great

I first saw this as a kid sometime in 2000 and it hade a huge impact on me. The aesthetics , score, soundtrack, action and character moments like these stayed with me my entire life. I'm Swedish and this film also taught me to speak english(well this and terminator 2). Brandon was one of my heroes growing up. I try to think of quotes from this film when life is rough like, "it can't rain all the time" and the quote "nothing is trivial" helped me cope with the loss and grief I experienced in my own life.

There's so much good in this scene. How Eric revels a bit in Albrecht's wonder about him with the spooks, then just chews the scenery. How he confoundedly studies the beer bottle after taking it out of the fridge, as if trying to remember something from another life. How Albrecht is just trying to get to grips with the situation, his mind reeling at the dead man walking. The utter vulnerability of that final line...

This film had such a brilliant cast and each small nuance in this scene truly adds something incredible and unique to the atmosphere of the story. From Eric's kindhearted and softspoken interaction with Sargent Albrecht, to Albrecht's concern for Eric after he fell back in sadness and bereavement after he had seen what had happened to Shelley through his eyes. It truly seemed like they and Sarah would have been such a happily bonded trio of good friends and they would have been such a beautiful found family had Eric had more time. Ernie Hudson's acting steers the emotional message of the film and his quiet determination and strength truly parallel the essence of who Eric is. I believe that something beautiful about the film is that Eric can see himself reflected in each person that he interacts with as his journey unfolds. Sarah Mohr represents his devotion to his family and the immense grief and longing that he feels in refusing to let go of the objects and things which tie him to his mortal past and identity (Sarah can also represent the innocence of Eric and Shelley's relationship and the almost magical quality of their love), Sargent Albrecht represents his necessity for justice and compassion as well as the undercurrents of remorse as Albrecht is getting divorced from his wife and Eric regrets that he didn't seem to value Shelley's empathy and gentle spirit as she always found amazement and wonder in the seemingly trivial things in life (Albrecht can also represent how Eric was judged because he differed from the status quo and chose to be kind to others and in how in spite of the violent nature of his mission, at its core it is ultimately the pursuit of justice, given that Albrecht is a kind and compassionate man who is shamed for his desire to help others amid a profession which constantly exposes him to cruel events, and Darla represents the almost metaphorical and unwavering addiction to his mission which is his only momentary focus. I also find it very beautiful that Eric and Shelley's favorite holiday was Halloween and as they were both judged on a daily basis, Halloween provided them with the necessary strength and courage to celebrate their authenticity and love for each other. Furthermore, this has a much greater significance as Eric is one of the most genuine characters in the film and his intentions are purely from a justice-seeking standpoint, however at his core, he is a beautiful and kindhearted soul who does not use The Crow persona as a means to be disengenuous with himself, rather that it is an outlet for him to express his deepest emotions and the most central pillars of himself. In other words his facepaint which is modelled after the Irony Mask in their home does not mask who he is, rather it represents the most fullest expresssion of his identity. I also believe that Top Dollar is a dark mirror of who Eric would have become had he permitted for his actions to be solely guided by revenge and not love.

The way Brandon looks around the room with his head movements like a crow showing his link to it, and also his semi erased memory of his surroundings. Things look different from the point of view of the dead, then they do the living. The smallest of things are highly noticed that we don't think twice about.

My all time favorite live action Halloween movie! I use to look forward to this movie being aired on tv every year around Halloween and I never missed it. The entire cast sold this movie with memorable performances and the production crew created a hell of a story. I liked Ernie in Ghostbusters, but I loved him in this movie. He and Brandon played off of one another so naturally; it was like breathing. Brandon is the one and only Crow. Then, now, and forever. If Brandon were still alive today, he would be an Academy Award winner and an Oscar winner for sure. R.I.P. Brandon Lee you are dearly missed.

I think the "believe me, nothing is trivial" line was a improv by Lee. God the 90s would have been so much more awesome if he'd lived, guy was apparently one of the first picks for Johnny Cage in MK(irony, I know), just like the 70s and 80s would have been more awesome if his father had lived.

I watch this film religiously every Halloween week and usually a few more times per year. Taped it off TV in the nineties and it was a great comfort to me when I was dealing with some stuff. Now anytime I feel anxious about something, just listening to pretty much any song from the soundtrack of this movie calms my nerves and brings me comfort. No other film has touched me in the way this one has and it is largely due to the quality of Brandon's performance (but the ensemble really complete it) Rest in peace Brandon, and John Pollito and anyone else involved who has passed.
