One thing: Marius (Mette-Marit's son) is not the heir to the Norwegian throne. Because he was born to a different father before his mother married the Crown Prince Haakon, he is not considered a royal. Rather he'd be "royal-adjacent" due to his mother's marriage to his stepfather and having two royal half-siblings.

I was looking last night on a historical channel a video about royalties that met during Olympic Games and king Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia were amongst the couples too. He was still Crown Prince then and kept his relationship secret until he ascended on the throne after his grandfather died. Then he modified some laws so he could marry Silvia since she was a commoner. I was thinking, King Carl Gustaf and King Charles are around the same age, if he put his feet down in front of his mother and grand mother, he could have married Queen Camilla, poor Princess Diana would still be alive somewhere but no prince William or Harry.

As a Norwegian I find this story next to irrelevant. The charged person is not royal and holds no titles. The only reason this became a big story is because its summer, and they dont have anything else to talk about. Now, Im not a royalist either, so its not like a care about the effect of this, but it is really weird that they keep talking someone who had no say about becoming the son of someone who married a royal, as if he should be held at greater account than all the other criminals in this world.
