2:44 I actually attended this event! We got there LITERALLY a few seconds before the movie began, so I don’t know what was shown before it, but I do remember that right before the movie started, they were showing some Thomas trivia. After the movie was finished there were the behind the scenes clips with the cast and, from what I remember, they were the same ones that were on the dvd (but don’t quote me on that cuz I could just be trippin’). We had the whole theater to ourselves and it is the only time I’ve ever seen Thomas on the big screen. Truly an experience I will never forget.

I was at the showings for the Season 11 showings when I was a kid in 2007 at 3:54. It helped to reinvigorate my love for Thomas after growing dormant for the Cars movie instead. It was at the Simi Valley, California theater that I attended, and it was the Billy episode, the Whiff episode, and the episode “Cool Truckings.” There were also Bob the Builder episodes spliced in between the Thomas episodes, as well. EDIT: 13:10 My god, that is smart.

here in brazil, some of the brenner era movies were released in comemorative events in shoppings's cinemas. there is a footage on the official brazilinan ttte channel of the king of the railway release, and some famous brazillian people (like singers and actors) are there to see the film. idk if it was some kind of thomas anniversary, or just an cool way to advertise the film, but that still pretty cool. but to be honest i also dont know how many movies were released in cinemas, the only one that i can confirm that was never released was the adventure begins, because this movie was never dubbed or distribued. another fun fact: ttte just was dubbed in brazilian portuguese in the year 2000, starting by the first season, and a strange gap beetwen season 5 and 8. for some reason, the seasons 6 nad 7 were never dubbed, and the first 5 seasons received just a few vhs and dvd releases, the series almost became lost media! and the tatmr was just released one year after the series stared its dubbing.

If there's one thing to think about "Calling All Engines!", it's that with this movie, it feels more like a TV-movie/extended episode than what it calls itself a "movie". The movie would be trimmed into a 45 minute extended episode (if you take out the learning segments) or a 30-31-ish minute episode (if you take out all of the songs from the main feature). Given that Seasons 8-11 used a camera that can go to 50FPS/60FPS (24fps if deinterlaced), it is quite TV-budget like compared to Seasons 1-7 or even Season 12 where the camera quality is 24fps.

Amazing video! So many cool facts about Thomas movies that I never knew before! And also, I have a bit more info about Thomas at the theater. So I’m American, and as far as I know, Thomas movies never premiered in theaters here. They were always aired on TV and release on DVD. Now, I wasn’t into Thomas until around 2014, so any movies that premiered from that year onward that we have little to no information about them being in U.S theaters, they most likely weren’t shown over here at all. And All Engines Go movies were also shown in theaters. The original dub of Race for the Sodor cup (where the new characters and Sir Topham Hatt had the same actors in both dubs) premiered in U.K theaters in 2021. Idk if this was the first time it was shown to the public, but it was one of the first. And The Mystery of Lookout Mountain has probably the most interesting theater history of all Thomas movies, here’s how it went down: The Mystery of Lookout Mountain premiered for the first time on Treehouse in Canada sometime around the end of 2022. It did not go anywhere else until 2023. Around February 2023, Fathom Events announced that they were going to be showing The Mystery of Lookout Mountain in select U.S theaters on March 4th and 5th. They even made a special poster for it. I scoured the internet for tickets, until I finally found a showing in a mall in Michigan. It was about an hour drive, but we did it. We got there and… this is about how it went… “Hi! We’re here to see the Thomas movie” “Oh the Thomas the Train movie..” “Oh no..” “Yeah.. the projector for that movie broke..” I was so upset… A few days later, it was revealed that that was NOT what happened. What actually happened was that Fathom Events CANCELLED ALL SHOWINGS LAST MINUTE. Bruno’s U.S voice actor apparently even recorded a special opening for the movie, thanking everyone for coming, and apparently, he was really upset after the showings got cancelled… So basically, this movie was SO CLOSE to being in theaters that you could even buy tickets for it… only for it to be cancelled in the 11th hour… What’s even weirder is that it was ONLY planned for a U.S theater release, at least as far as we know. The Christmas Letter Express, which only came out a few weeks ago, was not shown in theaters and was never planned to as far as we know.

The Thomas Movies started out rough with Magic Railroad, but then later it continued in fluctuating quality. Some good like Blue Mountain Mystery, Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure or The Great Discovery. Some in between like Calling All Engines or Journey Beyond Sodor. And some pretty bad like Day of the Diesels or Misty Island Rescue. Then it ended on a pretty rough note with BWBA.

As an Australian who was in the swing of their Thomas fandom up when a lot of these screenings were happening, I'm surprised I didn't know about them while they were happening (or maybe, as with any major international fixture, they completely skipped over Adelaide 🤣). If I had to guess _why_ Australia got some of the early releases, it could be due to the show's popularity down here as compared to the UK and US; while I don't have any exact demographical figures, quite a few of the fandom's biggest contributors do indeed hail from Down Under (like Wildnorwester, NWR1991, DieselD199, Victor Tanzig, and of course, Leokimvideo), and a lot of my classmates, even non-railfans, mentioned the show being a staple of their childhood.

Misty Island Rescue was the only Thomas movie I watched in theaters. It came out when I was 7 and I don’t know why I wanted to see this particular movie theaters instead of waiting for it to come out on dvd. I guess because I had wanted to see Hero of the Rails in theaters but never got to so I wanted to make up for it? Or maybe I found the premise and concept THAT interesting I don’t know. Anyways, I don’t remember too much of that experience. My dad brought me and my little cousin despite her not being interested in Thomas like I was, and that’s pretty much all I remember. I honestly don’t think I would’ve remembered the theater location if not for the fact that it was on the route to the cemetery where my uncle and mom were buried. In fact, my uncle died the December of that year.

For me, when it comes to the best cinema experience, it comes down to two things: Seeing the Back To The Future trilogy in 2015, and watching Dukes of Hazzard in a completely empty Portuguese theatre in 2005. Sure the movie sucks, but having a giant movie screen all to yourself? That's a great feeling!! Oh right, we're talking Tommy the Train here... All I got is seeing Magic Railroad on my mum's birthday in 2000. She hated the show before I badgered her to let me see it on opening day. You can imagine her feelings afterwards 🤣

Thomas and friends has been a part of my childhood for as long as I can remember, and since I was born in the same year as the actual first/movie episode of season 9 which was "Calling all engines" and the rest of season 9 which was 2005, except I was born two months before both things came which was July 1st, "The Great Discovery" which is infact supposed to be the actual last episode of season 11 and which I really wish until now would be what I just said, that was my first introduction to Thomas and friends when I was very young, and there's a lot of changes I wish for every movie, episode, and season of Thomas and friends, such the way how more characters started showing that they would have lamps and lights which they got to show in seasons 19-24, how I wish they would show in the episodes of seasons 19-24 with a good ending and not bad ones and with showing Sir Topham Hatt suffering, having seasons 17-24 with Diesel's voice being played by the narrator Michael Brandon, and a lot of other things like that which I wish changes for until now at 19-years-old.

When I watched your video on ranking the narrators of Thomas I was expected to have Rinco Starr at number two because you haven’t heard about ringos narration in shining time station
