Thank you for showing this footage. As a child I can remember going on these trams as a treat with my Grandma. I can remember that one of the conductors was a little bit cheeky with her! During my school years I would talk about the trams but not many of my peers would remember them and I would think that perhaps I had made it up as a good memory. Well now I know I didn't make it up but it is still a good memory.

I was born in '66 and grew up in Channel View Road. I can just remember seeing the trams when I was a little boys. You can still see the remnants of the old route and the old tram stop where the miniature golf is. 😊

Brilliant film , thank you for posting, made my day. The Trams were moved to Seaton in Devon in 1969-70 and its our 50th year at Seaton next year. I drive at Seaton and have done for 41 years .It was at Eastbourne from 1954-1969

Many thanks for taking the time to view and to leave your kind comment. I'm always delighted to know that my old home movies are reaching a new audience - so much better than just letting them gather dust on the shelf!

@@terrypearson7787 ABSOLUTELY! Valuable archive material: of note, both reverse ends, appear to had no rail safety buffer or likes: just rail run out, meaning driver had better judge those braking distances pretty accurately, I suppose?

@@BOFsensai ... and Sovereign Harbour was a million years away! On my annual holiday in Eastbourne, I always visit that spot and cast my mind back to those distant days! Thanks again for your insightful comments.

Thank you for viewing and for your kind comment. Don't forget to check the other Eastbourne related film clips as mentioned in the description of this item. Glad you enjoyed it - certainly, lots has happened in that part of Eastbourne since this film was made in 1961!

Too late to get to Eastbourne to ride them, but now it’s a ‘must do’ to get to Seaton to ride, and every time we get the chance to go.
