So this tool was designed to add body at the root. You section out hair at the root and press it as close to your scalp as possible. Of course, not directly on your scalp! But if you go back to the beginning of the video and you look at the wig and then you look at it afterward you’ll see how it lifts the roots! It’s not designed to actually create a pattern in the hair…although you could do that with the right products, that wasn’t the purpose. Hope this is helpful!

It can be used the way you say, actually she has tested one of those specifically, but my friends mother had one of this and I remember in the booklet they showed a girl with her entire head 9f hair crumpled. However for today your explanation is the best use you can get from it

I remember this so well! It’s not meant to do your entire head. It’s mean to to take out a halo on top of your head and crumple the hair underneath and then lay the hair back down for instant volume!!

FYI, as a kid, I crimped my hair all the time but it was so long it would take forever. So my mom and I would put tons of tiny braids in my hair after my shower and I'd sleep in them then use the crimper to do the ends. Just an idea if you want to try to get the crimped look with less/no heat styling 😊 tiny braids is key

I was born in 76, so I'm an 80s kid. This is definitely from the 80s. If you want to find an ad for it you gotta check "Teen magazine" I don't think that's a magazine anymore but I was a faithful subscriber. I kept all of them from 11 years old to 18 years old but we moved and my mom convinced me to toss them. Can't tell you how many times I wish I hadn't tossed them tho!

Crimpers were made in the '80s that I don't know what year that one from because they usually have lines going across so when you crimp it you have line crimps and gives you more bigger hair.

Hi Bunny I actually have the vintage Conair heat tool with the interchangeable plates. The crimper that you were talking about in this video. Mine have waving plates, crimping plates, straightening plates and the star design plates. If you're interested in having it.....I would be happy to send it to you. It's in mint condition. The plates are all in new condition. I can't use heat tools anymore. I have thyroid disease and have to be extremely careful with heat in my hair. I would be happy to send it to you for a video or just to have. Let me know if you'd like to have it!
