Great video. Funny enough, I switched my entire collection to vintage tins, in particular the HGSS legendary dog trio. This was a personal decision unrelated to the fear of scanning or whatnot, but the recent news has had me wondering if I might be sitting on a great investment. I don't know much about CT scans, but the card window on the tins is what seriously concerns me... The window seems to line up perfectly with the booster packs inside, particularly the upper region of the pack where the holo pattern would be. Wondering if that would limit the protection offered by these tins.

Are those the shiny promo dog tins? If so those are some of my favorite promos of all time. There definitely could be an issue with the tins and maybe the tin doesn’t effectively block the scan at all but if the plastic window is the only thing that can’t block the X-rays then it should be okay because a single top down ray onto the packs isn’t what makes the CT scan effective at scanning packs it’s the fact that it goes all around it and can create a 3d image with that. But honestly no clue as to how the tins will fair until they get scanned

They are the shiny dogs! They are some if my favorites as well. They took some cash to acquire, so like many investors I’m keeping up with the news. You make a good point, and additionally I am realizing that even though rays might be able to pierce the window, they would have to travel through the backside of the tin as well in order to reach the detector. I’ll be awaiting any new news, and again great video

Thank you for your thoughts it was most intuitive. I was wondering if the scanned image can confirm 99.9% of what the cards are or is there a degree of uncertainty? I am talking Pemom cards. I am a japanese and english collector of modern sealed products so the news has been a little alarming. Just wondering if I should be worried or not

I’m not sure in terms of degrees of uncertainty but the way these companies function is they scan your stuff and send it back to you along with the scans. They never tell you what’s in your packs, they leave that up to you to interpret. So partially it depends on how well you can read the scan. I don’t think you should be too worried with modern because it isn’t worth it to scan it quite yet

If you have heavy vintage packs I would consider getting out, those WILL take a major blow. If any product will take a blow, it is those. If you just have modern and low value products then your good, noone who did the math right would send in a evolving skies bb for example worth 700, pay 200 for a scan on the box, as you probably wont make back the value through hits, even if you hit a moonbreon. (scan price will prob be even more, CT is more advanced than people give it recognition for) And then again, what about all the times you WONT get the hits after scanning? or maybe the moonbreon got whitening or is super off center? It makes no sense to scan cheaper modern products. Imo only vintage SEALED high ends and heavy packs is in danger zone here. Besides that, the pokemon hobby lives very well. All in all this will have a lower impact on the hobby then the discovery of pack weighing

Yeah I think you are right at least for right now. These prices will go down over time with increased competition in this sector of the hobby. The problem I see is the amount of distrust that will be in the hobby over this. And these sets are only getting older, more expensive, and more enticing to scan over time. Thanks for watching and the great comment!
