hello Paul, thank you all these great advices. I was wondering what kind of alcohol do you put on your microfiber to clean the camera? I have dust and hair when i look through the view finder on my Rex 2, it doesn't come from the lenses. can it come from the inside view finder system?

Hi Romain, Yes the dust usually comes from inside the viewfinder including dead bugs. They get trapped inside, see the light via the viewfinder but can't get out. If you have a model such as a Rex 4 (with the 4 screws on top) of the viewfinder open it up and be very careful to dismantle the elements to clean them. However, the elements at the front are very dangerous to dismantle for cleaning and can break. I'll post my videos for that. Here's how to remove the viewfinder on a Rex 4. I just read again you have a Rex2. You'll need to send the Bolex to a technician for servicing. The viewfinder on that Bolex takes some skill to remove and tend to break upon dismantle. However, here's how to clean the most difficult part of a Rex 4 viewfinder. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH3apo2rir2Ja9E

The alcohol to use needs to be as close to 90% as possible. 70% can be used but it needs to dry longer as it contains more water. Hydrogen peroxide is also used to help remove fungus. However, if the fungus has penetrated the glass elements then those glass elements would have to be replaced. In addition they can infect other glass elements.
