​@gordtulk Was there no search? It seems like he's very well regarded in the hockey world. He was an assistant GM in Toronto and was a big time player agent. Biggest thing might be his close relationship with Connor if it in any way helps keep McDavid in Edmonton.

Jackson is an outstanding hire. There’s no one that could be more helpful in re-signing Connor. Unless they signed his Mom! I don’t know if she would come in tangentially or at oblique angles but she would be a 97 guarantee.

@@matthewgraf9449 In a Cap world like we live in with only 2 Market dynamics with different tax profiles those being Canada and the USA we know that with every Team its dollars in and dollars out as they say and there are very very few creative ways that Organizations can find an edge over their competitors. Connor and Leon are not going anywhere and the Oilers are clearly the NHLs POWERHOUSE club and will forge the Leagues future. All the Oilers need to do is figure out a way to stop "Something" from derailing their Playoff drives so efficiently because they are getting executed . The Oilers can now have virtually ANYONE in the NHLs Realm from Player to Coach to Manager because its obvious they are peaking right now.

@@GG-te3eg Right now the Oilers have had 2 sure-fire Stanley Cups denied them, all that matters is defining causality then adjusting. If the Stickboy or Goalie Coach are the causality the solution is the same as if it were the CEO or GM or HC....remediate then refocus. IMHO the Oilers just laid out a PERFET SEASON ...they peaked at the perfect time everything was just right, they were executed. If the Oilers again lay a Golden Egg how can we feel confidet that they will not be slamdanced right out of the Playoffs once again with nary a snarl or drop of blood shed.

GM handles team personnel President over sees GM. Which is Holland. As CEO of the Oilers Organization he's going to oversee Marketing, Merchandising, Ticket sales, Revenues, chosing President of Hockey operations, being the teams board of governors rep to talk about rule changes and what not. etc. Etc. He won't have much impact on The on ice personnel and coaching staff. Or Negotiations. How much impact did Bob Nicholson have on the on ice product short of hiring new Presidents of hockey ops or Pres/Gm combos? He's replacing Bob. He won't even have anything to do with negotiating McDavids next contract short of Advising the GM on maybe what buttons to push. He's not going to pick our new video coach or new scouting staff that will be holland. I'm not sure what all the hype is about.

The hype is Connor is familiar with Jackson and has been committed to him since he’s 15!! This increases the likely-hood of Connor resigning majorly! Jackson himself said who doesn’t want to see Connor be an Oiler…FOR LIFE! Still need help understanding the hype or are you a skeptic and not a fan??

@@joshuaneil8462 as I said, Jackson has nothing to do with negotiating and is no longer McDavids agent. Players change agents all the time. Connor will now have a new agent who's personal interest will be to get McDavid as much money as possible (commission) and keep him on a contender. Keep client happy. Jackson will have no impact on McDavids next contract. That will be up to McDavid his new agent and the GM. Or do you need me to explain how business works? If McDavid wants to be an Oiler for life it's up to him (barring trade) no one else.
