As a STAY I know this cult, too much. At first I don’t realise the problem with Chan’s room, it was cool and everyone was comfortable, too comfortable. Idk how to explain that but there was a vid "The weird idolisation of English speaker K-pop idole" or something like that, explain this really good.

This is honestly soo true and disturbing and VERY common, (almost creepy how common it is) let's hope you don't get hate for the shedding light on the truth (praying 4 U🤞🏼)

also wanna bring awareness to the parasocial relationships of fans also thinking they are actual friends from what I've seen in a particular fandom I'm in where fans "joke" and go too far in interacting with the idol(s) thinking they are "besties" and can do whatever they want with the idol without worry that some of what they say can actually make the idol uncomfortable but the idol always has to play it off to not anger the fans

It's very scary how the industry markets the normalcy of parasocial relationships between idols and fans. IMHO parasocial relationships with idols are very unsafe. I don't know if it's happened yet to a Korean idol (correct me if I'm wrong). There's a pattern of singers being stalked, sexually assaulted, and even murdered by their fans. And this has happened a ton of times in the West, and in Japan. This is why Chappel Roan demanded people respect her boundaries and leave her alone when she's living her life outside of the stage as Kayleigh. And I'm glad she set that boundary. Think about it, parasocial relationships have resulted in the following: Dimebag Darrell: Murdered by a fan. John Lennon: Murdered by a fan Rebecca Schaffer: Stalked by and murdered by a fan Selena: Murdered by a fan Christina Grimmie: Stalked and murdered by a fan Princess Diana: Chased down by the press to no end until she died. Sandra Bullock: Stalked by a fan Drew Barrymore: Stalked by a fan. Jodie Foster: Stalked day in and day out at the age of 18. Mayu Tomita: Stabbed multiple times by a fan. Rina Kawaei and Anna Iriyama of AKB48: Attacked by a rabid fan at a handshake event. And when you watch anime like Perfect Blue and Oshi No Ko the things that happened to Mima and Ai Hoshino happen to many more J-pop idols IRL almost all the time. A big K-pop idol could be next if we don't normalize letting adults be adults who deserve space and respect their boundaries.
