Shane Dawson made millions off pushing racist & sexist content, that he also hurt animals and children in. Shane was finally held accountable in June 2020 and then he disappeared for a year. Dawson was warned several times, but he kept his problematic content us as he wanted to profit from the content. After his over year break, Dawson returned to KZbin and showed immediately he has learnt nothing. I wish someone would talk about the collective grooming of children who were online during this time. I'm positive Gen Z has experienced their own version of this but Millenials who were online during late 90s-2012ish could visit the clear net at any point for the top result and get completed unedited videos of cp, beheadings, fetish content, sexual assaults, extremely graphic violence. You used to be able to pull up porn on youtube no problem even searching mundane terms. I remember particular videos centered around breeding 14 year old girls. Weird, weird shit. 3:33 I’m not saying it’s right by any means, but this kind of humour absolutely was prevalent at that time. I was in my teens during that time, I definitely heard that kind of humour both in and out of school from other teens, from young adults. This is part of the reason why Shane Dawson was so popular. If that humour wasn’t so popular then Shane wouldn’t have grown a fanbase in the first place. He was older than us and he made jokes most of us wouldn’t say in front of our parents and posting it online; he was edgy enough to be almost cool, uncool enough to be relatable, and accessible enough that we could watch his content whenever we wanted. Same goes for Onision, and probably a bunch of other KZbinrs who made that kind of “edgy” content and have since faded in to obscurity and been forgotten about. It might not look like it, but society has changed a lot since then. Yeah, it wasn’t the 1800s, but that humour was accepted amongst teens and young adults. Dark humour and the shock factor were very popular, and at that time we didn’t care much about how language was harmful or discriminatory because that language was everywhere.

A video with tags like "for children", or whose audience is set to “Yes, it’s made for kids”, featuring family friendly cartoons engaging in inappropriate acts like injecting needles. Remember these are just some examples, and don't post content if you think it might violate this policy. Thats just the kid's part Exactly he transgression the first line; kissing, sexually suggestive activities, and provocative: (and his content specifically was filled of most fans being children) multiple times for 10 whole years, I don't know how he haven't been canceled straight up permanently. and that's just kids, not including animal, not including the slurs and what not. Honestly this isn't just a mistake, you don't make and say it's a mistake when you been doing it for 10 years as a joke with no care in a world, and even went=as far to support ped and say people shouldn't have a problem with it, this is the exact definition of a completely mentally unstable, human being. At least those are my 2 sense in this matter of Shane.

I remember about ten years ago that I kept hearing about him, his channel & how successful he was. I had always wanted to do KZbin (took my a while to get the confidence to do it 😂) so I looked up his channel to see what this ‘gold standard’ of KZbin was that was getting millions of views. I watched one video & couldn’t believe that this terrible, horrendous, unfunny, low effort & low quality content was getting MILLIONS of views… I then went to click around a few other videos & came across crazy inappropriate content & then some unbelievable racist content… I noped out immediately & for the next several years, I could not understand why the hell he was so popular. Not just popular but INCREDIBLY popular, one of the most popular, getting millions of views, making millions of dollars (even though he pretends he doesn’t) & so many other creators praising him. He was getting all of that for terrible, terrible videos, many of which were poor quality, low effort, unfunny, & just talking about nothing… & often filled with racism, sexism, homophobia, CREEPY stuff to do with kids & talking about how dirty he is. On occasion he put out those ‘docs’, I can’t imagine how arrogant to call your YT videos documentaries. Those videos did have more effort, but they were so poorly made, terribly written, poor storytelling & pacing, & I think they were about ten times longer than they needed to be, purely so he could put more ads in them. I will never understand what happened & why he was so popular. Thank you so much for watching lovely, I really appreciate it 💜

I have to be honest and I discovered Shane’s channel a bit before than lockdown, at that time I was not aware of his past and his “movie” so I was genuinely happy to watch him, he was relatable and auto-ironic. With time and especially after all the Beauty drama I saw all his masks: he hides behind his insecurities only to distract the audience from his problematic personality, only to come up after with some lame and empty “apology video”

Yeah. At the beginning of their careers, they were often compared. Later, Onision was the first person to call Shane out for being a p*dophile. Most people refused to believe Onision especially since Greg did not do anything to support his claim. He did gloat on Twitter when Shane was canceled in 2020 (which he understandably received a lot of hate for it).

As someone that's autistic with Antisocial Personality Disorder, I wouldn't be surprised if he were the same... I got myself out of those manipulation tactics and the toxic way of behaving, because the way I was raised, and also I got chronic illnesses, so I wasn't able to be around other people much. One of the main thing about it is the having different personality with different people. A lot of people that are masking, does this. And when you are used to it, you have to be aware and physically make yourself stop, because your brain automatically does it. This is in no way justifying his behavior, it's more in the sense of looking at this in more details, instead of the "he is just evil/bad" view. Because none of these things will make someone do what he has done. What I think we can learn from examples as him and Colleen (which I wouldn't be surprised if she had the same diagnoses) is how important it is to find out about these things, as they are still kids... That way people can actively teach them what is right and wrong. Especially since I do not believe either of them started out as Pedo's (I don't know if they are today, but it wouldn't surprise me), I think it was more them joking at first (childish humor) and then seeing peoples reaction, and people either laughed it off or looked past it. And from there it probably escalated.
