I was so glad I was able to catch this promo tour in NYC. It was the first time I brought my then new girlfriend and now wife to a cure show. I literally got the last 2 tickets at the door. I brought her there with no tickets hoping for a miracle. It's been 21 years later and she is still right next to me.

I was at that show and I was able to score tickets to the Hard Rock Live show earlier in 1999 where they debuted OotW, Last Day of Summer and Bloodflowers. I still have my handwritten notes on the set on the inside of my hardcover copy of Fight Club that I had been reading everyday on the train ride into school.

I don’t know what it is about these songs and the album itself but I have absolutely adored Bloodflowers always from the very first time I listened to it to the last. Some Cure fans just don’t get it or think it’s okay. But I truly believe it belongs up there with Pornography and Disintegration.
@tylerskiss2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure most fans hold it in very high esteem. I, personally, loved the album but I also love Coming Up, Possession and Spilt Milk, so I am sad we lost out on the album he initially intended to record. Apparently there are 3 more unreleased "electro" songs that hopefully will one day see the light of day.

@@tylerskissI think it’s okay. Knowing the story behind it, it’s clear why it’s half-baked. It also sat on the shelf for about a year before release. I wonder if the label didn’t like the “hard electro” direction, but also didn’t love the finished product? They moved to a new label in 2004.

This was the last thing they did that was good! After this album it was all downhill... The self-titled so poorly produced it was just unlistenable rubbish and 413 dream.... Should have never even been released it was so bad... After you listen to the self-titled or 413 dream you realize how great Wild Mood Swings was ..And that's pretty crazy! LOL

No one knows what he said, probably said something around "keep playing the intro", as Robert sang too soon by accident so he made up for it by playing totally new post rock type riff over the intro before verse itself

Here's a question; since the early album was set to be an "electro" album, was the new intro for Prayers for Rain recorded to match with the then new material and they just chose to keep it even after the album morphed into Bloodflowers? They've since gone back to the traditional intro, so it was only a 2-year window for that. And closing the shows with a one-two punch of the Figurehead and Disintegration was such a brilliant choice. Oddly enough they are closing the current shows with exclusively pop singles this time around. You'd think the casual fans want that stuff up front so they can jet after the main set, so it's really strange to hold that off until the last encore, but that allows time for me to get out and beat the crowd instead of sitting through In Between Days for the 119th time!
