Every time we do this I fall for her Wave after wave after wave It's all for her "I know this can't be wrong" I say (And I'll lie to keep her happy) "As long as I know that you know That today I belong right here with you" Right here with you... And so we watch the sun come up From the edge of the deep green sea And she listens like her head's on fire Like she wants to believe in me So I try "Put your hands in the sky Surrender Remember We'll be here forever And we'll never say goodbye... " I've never been so Colourfully-see-through-head before I've never been so Wonderfully-me-you-want-some-more And all I want is to keep it like this You and me alone A secret kiss And don't go home Don't go away Don't let this end Please stay... Not just for today... "Never never never never never let me go" she says "Hold me like this for a hundred thousand million days" But suddenly she slows And looks down at my breaking face "Why do you cry? What did I say?" "But it's just rain" I smile Brushing my tears away... I wish I could just stop I know another moment will break my heart Too many tears Too many times Too many years I've cried over you How much more can we use it up? Drink it dry? Take this drug? Looking for something forever gone But something we will always want... "Why why why are you letting me go" she says "I feel you pulling back I feel you changing shape" And just as I'm breaking free She hangs herself in front of me Slips her dress like a flag to the floor And hands in the sky Surrenders it all... I wish I could just stop I know another moment will break my heart Too many tears Too many times Too many years I've cried for you It's always the same Wake up in the rain Head in pain Hung in shame A different name Same old game Love in vain And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles Away from home again...

If you held a gun to my head and forced me to name my favorite Cure song, this would more than likely fall from my mouth. "Why, why, why are you letting me go, she said? I feel you pulling back. I feel you changing shape. Just as I'm breaking free, she hangs herself in front of me. Slips her dress like a flag to the floor. Hands in the air, surrenders it all"... Along with the guilt I would feel for NOT naming Charlotte Sometimes (dreams a wall around herself but it's always been love! So much love it looks like everything else. Charlotte sometimes you're so far away) The Drowning Man, Fear of Ghosts (cause the further I get from the things that I care about, the less I care about how much further away I get). The Funeral Party, Plainsong because "it's cold, like the cold if we were dead & you smiled for a second". Oh god. Fascination Street. Disintegration. Lullaby... Spider-Man is having me for dinner tonight6, and I feel like in being eaten by 1000, million, shivering furry holes

Yep. It's like, how did I miss this? I mean, a band this good with so many good songs? Like, one of the best rock bands of all time, and in my opinion, the best British rock band from the 80s at least. The radio didn't play alot of their stuff (apart from tracks from the pop oriented HOTD and KMKMKM albums) because the songs are either too long, have more music than lyrics with long intros, or do not conform to conventional song structures ... and that's why we love em, and of course the music sounds so epic.
@beekay59146 ай бұрын
I have been aware of them but dismissed them based on a few songs I heard on the radio. What a mistake! I figured it out about three years ago, and they have blown me away several times. Outstanding band-Burn, Forest, Shake Dog Shake, Fascination Street, that's what I am talking about.

My favorite The Cure song from my favorite album of them. I spent some time investigating hidden meaning of the lyrics. They say it's about drugs addiction. I don't care, I am gonna stick to obvious vibe this song expresses. Robert Smith screams about love, passion and guilt, all in one, the mix of endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline exploding in human's brains. And oh yes, this chemical combination is addictive as fuck

I wouldn't take Smith's answers about his songs meanings too seriously, he lies all the time to people about what they mean. He told a reporter the Hanging Garden was about him hearing a noise in the garden when he was naked, and he went to go check on it, hence the hanging garden when it's really about a book lol. He also once said he was gonna do metal music, lied about albums dropping super sudden and people freaked, it's hilarious, he gives no fucks. Let his art come to you for what it means, it could have multiple meanings, who knows, the man's a genius.

The Cure is on entirely different plain than any band that has ever been.The potent and powerful poetry from Robert's soul flying out to meet that steady drum beat, and guitar.Is just pure emotion, and storytelling.So much raw passion in this song,how he keeps coming back with intensity like when he cries "never never never never never never never never let me go she said" I just weep. This song can touch my soul in such a deep way, same as Homesick, This is a lie, Disintegration... I feel those songs so personal from Robert Smith experiences, and also I feel part of that same old game he is describing so well... I wish i could just stop...

Never got to see them live but wish I had. This is just one masterpiece of many!

Cure was my youth and I never got the chance to see them live. What I have always vowed to myself is that once in my life I will go to a The Cure concert. And then, in November 2016, the time had come. They were playing in Stuttgart and my wife (who is also a big Cure fan) and I were right in the middle of it. And what should I say? An experience for eternity. For me, Cure is one of the best live bands out there. Robert's voice is unique and has a high recognition value. Others have to help with electronics for this. My tip to you. If you ever get the chance to see them live again, take the chance and go.
