He is doing all of it. He always played parts that only required one finger. Watch In Orange, on InBetween Days. Pearl is busy playing Bass VI, Lol is the only one who can be playing keys on it. Same for A Night Like This.

Man, what is it in all these _'Reflections'_ videos that has most of the songs played at a slower tempo? Bring back Boris or Andy. Hell, bring Budgie (S&TB) on board. This would've sounded much better at it's original tempo...

River Of Blacklights ... it’s not so much Jason’s drumming I think I just seems that Lol Tolhurst seemed to play faster live and his skill as a drummer is no where near as good as Jasons. It’s Robert that runs the band so you’d have to say its his call on how they play it. There’s no doubt that I prefer different drummers on certain songs rather than Jason is but I really don’t think that Jason deserves all the negativity he receives.

@@nickhybner8485 You really can't fault Tolhurst either. Tolhurst was a self taught drummer and never really received any formal training, which Cooper has had. In my opinion, Tolhurst is the one that receives the most unfair criticism by those (not saying you, per say) that defend Cooper's lackluster drumming. Thing if it is, it's very easy to always pit him against Tolhurst when a *_TRULY_* fair comparison is to pit him against Anderson and Williams and see how his skill *_REALLY_* compares. *_THAT'S_* when one begins to see he just doesn't rate. Yes, you can say that it's Smith's "call" on how the song is played *_but,_* that has nothing to do with Cooper's proficiency itself as a drummer - which is poor - when you see it from a technical standpoint. Any musician should strive to improve and refine themselves in their craft, not simply rely on someone else to say, _"Um... yeah, guess that's good enough. We'll stick with that."_ That isn't improvement, that's settling and that helps no one. Cooper has been the longest running, continuous drummer in the band - well over 20 years - and he *_STILL_* makes a lot of songs sound boring, dull and lifeless. His skills are mediocre despite the length of time he's been playing. He has no sense of tone and will gladly bash away at a kit that sounds as if it's made out entirely of cardboard (which is how his kit sounds like to me and many others) and don't get me started on the cymbal bashing - that topic has already been exhausted. To tell you the truth, I'm more interested and excited to hear Budgie and Lol's new project (shame Haskins had to leave) than The Cure's new album. With Cooper on board still, it's killed off any excitement and enthusiasm I had for it... if any to begin with...

@@RiverOfBlacklights This IS the album tempo. That's what Robert shoots for in these shows where they are reproducing the albums. In the early days, they would play more frenetically. Robert became obsessed with using backing tracks after the disasterous shows of the summer festival tour of 1998. Yet if you listen to the radio shows at the end of 1997, they sound GREAT. Jason had nothing to do with the problems they had. He has always been able to do what he needs to do. Do you really think a perfectionist like Robert Smith would keep him around if he couldn't? Don't forget, BORIS QUIT THE BAND. That was his own choice. And now, bringing back Andy is not possible. But you can't bring back Boris when HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE IN THE BAND ANYMORE. You act as if Robert made that decision. FFS. Jason sounds FINE. Boris sounded like a fucking drum machine 75% of the time. And on Disintegration, supposedly they did drum replacement on a lot of his sounds. I'm telling you, the problem was when Robert decided to move to backing tracks for everything. Coop is a fine drummer. I'm fucking tired of people pining for someone who LEFT THE BAND THEMSELVES.
