The whole "Wish" album was so great, and still is, in so many ways....I was 25 when it came out, and the music and lyrics in it, marked and represented the very beginning of my maturity, and yet the apex of my spiritual freedom, which I still retain at 41. To me it also represented the point where my friends realized I wasn't stuck in a heavy metal cage like they were, but I was (still am) a combination of different styles of music, different, more intimate feelings, sad melancholy poetry....

I was 14 years old and unwillingly cast upon that weird age where I thought the things we did when we were young and the pain of youth slipping away was more than my heart could take. I’ll never feel as intent as I did when I was young. To what once was and will never be again

It's a bass guitar - when you hear that guitar tone on a Cure record, it's a Bass VI. Robert uses it on a lot of songs because it just sounds so beautiful.

Words can only diminish the implications here for the human experience, such regret, such nostalgia, such trauma, and such beauty. For surely if we could have everything we wanted, if we were gods and not mortal, then we would not be beautiful, we are beautifully unhappy, exquisitely unfulfilled, we beautifully quest and question, how boring and unattractive the life of the gods-----may we always yearn and always feel this beautiful pain,

How can a song be so sad, yet so incredibly uplifting altogether?? This reflects so well what I was going through when this album came out, and every time I listen to this album, it speaks about me, about who I was, how I lived, how I thought of things, how I matured, who my friends were, how young and free we were....how the natural development of life changed us.... I am so blessed, to be among those who get Robert Smith's poetry! :-)
