@@sephiroth70001 That's approximately 33% better. Triangle Strategy brings Fire Emblem to mind with it's well known strategic weapon triangle. Regardless if it's a good game it doesn't matter what it's called, but it could affect sales as casual gamers and those less familiar with Japanese RPGs would be less likely to purchase something they've never heard of that has a stupid name.

Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite game of all time. I am 34 and was 11 when I first played it. I still play it at least once every one to two years since release and it is still as fun as the first time I played it. It holds such a giant piece of my heart. I am currently playing FFTA2 at the time of this video and while it isn't the same thing I still really enjoy it. And it is nice to be back in Ivalice. Not sure why another game that follows the original or even a modern remaster hasn't been made available. I know they did the PSP port, but the slowdown in that version especially when I know the game so well, is abhorrent and the definitive way to experience this amazing game is the original PS1 version IMO. A release of War of the Lions that fixes the issues of that would be wonderful.

I actually think the opposite. While I also think the lag in the PSP version is a letdown, the truth is that is not something game breaking, and after playing War of the Lions I just can't go back to the original version, I tried and I couldn't. Missing all that extra content (in the story, as I don't care about multiplayer), Luso (I don't care about Balthier), the buffs Meliadoul got in her skills, the extra scenes, the extra missions for Bewoulf and Agrias, having enough space to keep all my characters (this was such a big flaw in the original) etc, I just didn't feel well not having them with I tried to play the original again.

@@SeventhheavenDK Agreed. I definitely wouldn't mind a re-release of WotL. The animation lag was more grating for me than some, but I was willing to live with it for the better cutscenes, content and aesthetic of the game overall. I would have made a deal with a Lucavi to actually do some of the multiplayer stuff because it would have been fun to do, but even just the singleplayer game is worth it. It was too well done to go back. I'd love to see it on Steam, or Switch. Maybe tweak in a generic Holy Knight class, eh? Ehh? Then I could have a Dark/Holy Knight for maximium chaos.

I'm very excited for Triangle. Just in the demo there was a meaningful choice that resulted in completely different battle & who you recruited. Now that through the course of the game I hope it's a game I can return to over the years. Bravely Default/Bravely Second always felt like a return to classic FF games, and this feels like the return to an amazing story tactics

The story of FFT was such a big part of my childhood. My friends and I would bring our PSXs to the same house and all sit around and play our individual copies, talk about our plans, our job classes, the lore. Those memories are great. Even at 12 years old, we fell in love with the complexities of that world. I still play through the whole game every couple of years (on my old PSX and a CRT tv). I just hope one day they can expand on it. Thanks for the great content.

Did the same, but on the single game. We removed the current soldiers, selling their access. Able to buy new soldiers, naming them after each of us. Setting Ramza on auto, we played our character as our character's turn would pop up. One of my most favorite memories of FFT

Try out Tactics Ogre : We Stand Together for the PSP, very very similar game made by the same director with the same crazy story telling as FFT except there are multiple paths you can take through the game rather than the on wheels storyline of FFT

I definitely want to see FFT2 or even an HD Remake/Remaster of FFT for current-gen platforms. It's one of the few FF titles that is almost infinitely replayable with an entirely new experience due to all the different jobs and characters, and that's incredibly rare for games these days.

I had over 500hrs in both FFTA. It was the perfect games to play at work on GBA SP. When it was slow I played a mission or 3, then out it away. Saved the story missions for when I had time. The guild missions were never ending

Sadly the writing doesn't seem to be nearly as strong as FFT if the demo is any indication. FFT was serious and dark, yes, but there was humour and levity throughout as well. Triangle just looks like it's trying to be Game of Thrones.

Why not mentioning the latest SquareEnix survey? FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre are the two most voted titles. Unfortunately I don't know what SE does with that information. Remastering those titles? Remake/Reimagining those? Or create something completely new? We will see :)

@@jamesmontemayor5676 I played WOTV. Didn't feel so much as a FFT despite having a SRPG gameplay. The jobs offer and customization is very limited. And you basically need to deal with the gatcha garbage, daily/weekly chores, etc. It feels as a lot of work, for very little content. Unless you are into PvP, in which case, you are likely to be blown apart by whale anyway. The closea thing to FFT I've seen, even closer than Tactics Ogre, was Fell Seal. The gameplay is basically a revamp of FFT. (Storywise, art and music, FFT is completely in another level though).

Although I knew the vast majority of this, I am absolutely floored and near tears thinking about Matsuno's work and journey that led him to creating my 2 favorite games of all time, FFT and Vagrant Story. I only have hope that someday I could follow in his footsteps to help create a sequel to either, no matter how small the role.

@@Scapemaster00 FFT Emergence (patch of the PSP version) is a ton of fun. And FFT complete v2 (there’s another named Complete that is NOT finished - v2 is the right one) is probably my favorite if for no other reasons than: Scaling enemy levels based on yours. Ramza gains a new class progression. One of the two patches let’s Ramza use sword skills like he always should have but I forget which.

@@drowningin Never played FFTA2 but I beat FFTA and while the gameplay was still decent, the story was horrible. The Anti-Escapist main character wasn't relatable at all. Beyond that, FUCK the Judge system. I lost so many missions and had to reset because of its stupid rules. I know they got rid of it in FFTA2 but it never should have been in to begin with.

@@Lionimia I think if you didn't like the first you wouldn't like the second they are very similar. I was working a boring tech support job when they came out so it was the perfect amount of attention, and could look away, and the GBA SP lasting basically whole shift. I remember liking the story to 1 more, but they were similar. The first reminded me of the never ending story. The second had some better sprites more varied locations and just a bunch of tweaks you wouldn't notice unless coming from 1

What I don't like about square battles & ending direction is its so easy to get behind someone. I think Hex could offer more strategies, but isn't used enough in these types of RPGs to say definitively. All the FFT games it feels so easy to get beside/behind that there's not much you can do to protect from it. With hex you can have dominant/weapon hand(s) if you wanted to go that deep.

The background music is so great. Love the acoustic guitar for Cloud of Darkness's theme. Also, tactics is probably my favorite game of all time. The story, music, and battle system were so different from what I had played at the time and it cemented the game as the best even now! Would love a follow up on the production of FF12 and Tactics a2. It seams like both attempted to have darker stories originally but the change over to square enix + waddas obsession with selling sequels and asset flips didint care. Interfering adding younger characters as protagonists and making a2 lighter.

I've only ever played Tactics Advance 2 (Trying to find time to get the others and play them), but how amazing would it be to have a game that somehow connects all of the Tactics games' lore and style into one massive adventure. My theory for how that could be achieved could see the fallout of the Rift being opened at the end of TA2 is that it actually started the catastrophe that caused all non-Humes to die out by the time of the first Tactics game. The Rift's seal wasn't closed flawlessly and someone following in Illua's footsteps is trying to use the Rift's power to bring her back and finish what she started. You'd be able to take control of some old and new characters from across history, and for characters like Mewt and Luso who aren't from Ivalice/from an alternate universe where Ivalice is a fairy tale, they could be summoned as guest characters by creating Manikins from the Rift, imbued with memories of them from the other characters. This ties into Ramza being a character in Dissidia NT, the ending there being that the warriors of Light and Dark create Manikins of themselves to continue fighting the Gods' war for them so they can all return home. So, if you had Rev Cid, Adelle the Cat and Hurdy in your party, you'd be able to recruit a Manikin of Luso to help stop Illua's fanboy/girl and take down Khamja once and for all. There could even be an extra ending after doing New Game+ content where even though the initial calamity is stopped and most of the races still eventually fade out over the next 1000 years, an alternate timeline could be forged that prevents that, and plot twist further, the Illua follower BBEG could even be from this new timeline trying to end it before it begins solely to keep Khamja from disappearing. It'd create a ton of irony where you're initially the resistance movement against Khamja but in the end it's they who are resisting against you, Clan Gully, Clan Nutsy, all the allies across Ivalice past, present and future who help out. I also want to take a tip from an obscure game I saw my cousin play when I was little, Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. From what IRC, you had to build teams to deploy on the field, not too dissimilar to dispatching units in Tactics on quests, and you'd get certain combos from mixes of units, including unique units or generics. It'd make for interesting "tactics" creating multiple parties to take on Khamja forces simultaneously, and they'll actually take or retake territories if you leave them be for too long.

I've played many tactics games over the years and all of them fall short in some way. This is probably blasphemy, but I actually liked Fell Seal's class system a lot more than FFTactics/Tactics Ogre's. I got used to the art style, too, after a couple of hours. The only itch it didn't scratch was Matsuno's storytelling. (And, well, I am a fan of the cooperative multiplayer in FFTactics.) But if I could have a class system as good as Fell Seal's combined with Matsuno's storytelling, I would be one happy cat.

I loved Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen. two of my favorite games. Even taking one of the Ogre Battle characters and making a feminine version that I use for MMO characters, turning Canopus into Canopia.

Fell Seal: Arbiters Mark This is the spiritual successor of the FFT franchise. It takes from all 3 FFT games and refines them into one modern game. Job system, balance and difficulty is the best. There is much better job synergy than FFT while not being too broken like FFTA2. Freedom to combine passive abilities is the best, having 4 passives, 2 from equipped job and 2 from anything else. There is granular custom difficulty you can change any time and encounters are force spawned, not random. Graphics are just ok, and story is at least better than A2, nowhere near WotL. Still best gameplay wise.

If anything, I would love another ivalice game. The ingredients: a story with the same qualities as FFT/XII ; compelling character designs by Akihiko Yoshida; music by Hitoshi Sakimoto. And Shakespearean localization, with half the lines being raw as hell. It's such a unique atmosphere... They had really captured lightning in a bottle with three people. I'm just longing to see more of XII (which I always felt ended a solid third too early).

I love your channel, but just want to offer a correction. A game's frame rate has nothing to do with how fast it loads off of a cd-rom or cartridge. Square made good use of the hardware to get it to run at 60fps, but lots of other PS1 games ran at 60fps, the Tekken series for one. And on the other hand, you'll find lots of N64 games that run at embarrassingly low frame rates.

I'd hope one day that FFT makes a genuine comeback in some form. I'd not want a remake as the spritework and world is just too good, and a remaster just doesn't do service. I'd want something for the long awaited sequel that still tackles Ivalice and the outcomes of Delita's rule. While Ramza, Alma, Delita, and Oveilia (Who was confirmed not killed by Delita, but died sometime after her confrontation) uphold their roles. We encounter rumors and a chance meeting with Ramza; who has since taken on a new identity.

Final Fantasy Tactics is my #1 most favorite RPG game. (I also enjoyed the War of the Lion remaster on PSP. The animated cutscenes were very well done and voice acted.) Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger being my #2 and #3.

FFT was my first Final Fantasy. It's always going to be very special to me, and even if it doesn't hold up very well today as a game, the story certainly does. I also love the original localization, some of the lines being super blunt was nice.

I would love to see future Final Fantasy Tactics games with pixelart aesthetics similar to FFTA, only more hi-bit. It would be cool if, much like all the Ivalice games take place, supposedly in the same world as the original Tactics and later FFXII, that they re-used some other already known settings. I love FFT but my main issue is that the unique characters are often no brainers. Orlandeau is prime example but even the other special knights. Those characters get access to all sorts of special abilities with the only down side is them not getting access to Squire, a useless class. I wish there was a way for generic characters to reach the point where they can use those abilities. The remaster did add a Dark Knight that did this, but still Holy Knight, Divine Knight and Holy Swordsman stand above all the other classes hands down. Once you get those characters its hamstringing yourself not to use them. It remembers a bit of an imbalance in the characters. By the end of the game you really don't use generic characters anymore. I mean you can but you're likely just short changing yourself since any of the special characters are likely superior in every way. Perhaps these special characters come with access to these advanced classes that generics have to work and mix a lot of stuff to reach. I'd like a new FFT to come out but I feel it would be made too different. (Plus likely an exclusive to the Switch or some BS). I wasn't a fan of the advance games and I feel they'd want to maximize graphical power. I was young at the time so Its hard to say but with FF7 and on Square has been pushing graphical quality more and more as the focus of their games, and I think this has been with some sacrifice of mechanics and story. World maps are gone, controlling multiple characters, etc. because such mechanics don't work well with the smooth high end graphical flair now common to FF games. Its unfortunately because FF has seemed to abandoned a lot of what made it popular, abandoning many of their core fans. While people still like their games, its because they have broader views but that doesn't mean the games are what they work. With FF15 its turned more into an Action RPG than a classic RPG. Button Mash with some skills thrown in. While this appears successful because the games are selling more than the older games, its important to remember that this is also because of the increase in the game industry as a whole. i.e. B movies can earn more now than classics back in the 40s and 50s but that doesn't mean they are actually better movies, its just more people go to movies now.

Beowulf was a monster if you leveled him up as well... I destroyed my friends with him in FFT:WOTL. He could instant cast any status aliment, especially petrify sword skill was beast

Eventually the generic classes had no value other than supplementing the unique ones like secondary options or support / counter/ movie. My main issue is that these knights didn't have any reason not to use the abilities, they had no mana requirements

I never felt he was secondary especially when you unlocked dark knight they just took a good setup to be powerful like giving them that one ability that made them immune to equipment break taking away almost all moves those special knights could do.. that's also how I would destroy my friends and why beowulf was the actual best one 😅

I absolutely LOVE Final Fantasy Tactics, but your criticisms are 100% spot-on. I also did not care for the clumsy "random enemies' levels scale with you" aspect, this causing level-grinding to actively work against you if you accidentally over-leveled beyond the decency of available equipment.

@@melichardcurlq6535 Some of the mechanics kind of annoyed me too. Like the stat growth and brave faith stuff. Thankfully it wasn't required and many didn't notice it but if you level a character up (base level) as a wizard, then switch to a knight, they will have bad stats as a knight, i.e. the stat gains permanent based on the class when you achieve that levels. It led to crazy tactics like deleveling characters then leveling again. Especially in War of the Lions. Onion Knight had the best stat gain, but you can't unlock them until like very other class is maxed, so people would multiplayer where you get JP but not XP to unlock the class then level it up from level 1. The Brave and Faith impact on chance to hit and Magic damage is really weird too. I remember I used a game shark as a kid (because of the Solo Ramza fight got me stuck) and one of the cheats sets your brave to insane max so you always do crazy damage but it also means magic becomes worthless. Its just a lot of numbers to juggle. Not to mention Find Item rarity relies on those stats too. Last thing I didn't like was the steal / break. Having items permanently broken or stolen by enemies is horrific, especially when you have unique weapons, i.e. Cloud having maintenance is mandatory. I could understand them being broken or stolen until the end of the fight but dang, permanently. If they made a sequel I wish they'd have an "easy" mode that made some of that stuff not apply. Thats why I kind of like Disgaea more than FFT. Although I prefer FFT art style more and the knight moves are boss. Disgaea does a better job with unique characters, Unique get like 3 special skills, none of which are game breaking like Orlandeau and co. are. So you can use generics all the way through.

Song @ 7:20 is an acoustic version of "Fisherman's Horizon" from FF8. I wish they'd list the songs from their vids. Took me like 10 minutes to put my finger on it since 8 isn't one of my favorites. The only thing that redeems it in my eyes is the music.

I have played all of them and it all leaves me wanting more. The tactics franchise is literally my favourite Final Fantasy franchise. After FFTA2 and some poor attempt at playing Tactics S, i honestly believed Ivalice would be back again soon.

I would love to see more stuff from Ivalice…..however only if Matsuno is involved. I know he retired from the gaming industry due to health reasons, but if he helped to write and direct that would be enough for me. It would not be the same without him.

Although I knew the vast majority of this, I am absolutely floored and near tears thinking about Matsuno's work and journey that led him to creating my 2 favorite games of all time, FFT and Vagrant Story. I only have hope that someday I could follow in his footsteps to help create a sequel to either, no matter how small the role.

I just want to add to the crowd, FFT is my favorite game of all time, hands down. 20 years later and few games have ever resonated that way with me. I'd love if they remastered War of the Lions for PS4/5, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Just a way to enjoy this classic on modern consoles would be enough for me. A new entry would be amazing, although I wasn't as fond of Advance and A2. I know that's subjective, but how do you improve on perfection?

I love the first Final Fantasy Tactics. I would 100% buy a FFt2 if one was released that was a direct sequel to the orginal FFT and didn't change how the game core functions worked. I would want the job system to be the same and all the Jaz. Though I never really understood the zodiac system how some characters get along better with other depending on what there zodiac sign where.

FFT is my island game but I am thorn. On one side I think Matsuno still have some great ideas floating around that head of his that were not used. FFXIV Bozja fans can attest to that. On the other side, there is the question of how much a producer (I am looking at you fate man!) or even Sqex would interfere to try and make it a blockbuster.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Zodiac Trials. It could play similarly to the original, except take place long before. Maybe center around primal rituals, forbidden magics in a dark and gritty story leading to the creation of the Zodiac Stones. Idk, I can dream.

I 100% would like another extension of the story in FFT. Pretty much any format would be nice, but another game is always welcome. I always enjoyed Ivalice as a setting in game as well as the extensive branches in character relationships. I got this and FF7 around the same time when I was a kid and each game sunk my younger self so deeply into the franchise I've been made a fan for life. If I had the creative freedom to choose the next installment it would definitely center around the inception of the Zodiac Braves and the stories that made up their legends.

I doubt it will happen, but I'd enjoy a sequel or prequel. A prequel with ajora and the zodiac braves as the leads, and a sequel that reveals whether ramza and his braves survived ultima or not, as well as possibly goes in a darker direction this time, possibly going after delita.

My god, I wish Ivalice was expanded on. If they could recapture the depth of the original game, with some adjustments to QOL changes that people are used to, I would buy that in a heartbeat. FFTA is besides FF8 the only RPG i keep replaying every year at least once for the last ~19years. I always try to replay it differently to the playthroughs before. Thats a great challenge i made for myself. 2 masterpieces of my childhood i'll never forget.

FFT is one of my top 3 games from 30+ years of gaming both PC and major consoles. Though I do worry that given amount of time that passed not sure I will love it the same. Though I am looking forward to the new triangle game and glad to see many others are aware of it as well.

Similar to Pix Remast & the FFL compilation, I'd love to see ALL the FFT games in one SKU, ideally physical, on all platforms. Including FFT, FFTWOTL, etc; all versions of all games. Sad that Pix Remast dumped all the post-original content created for other releases. HD2D would be nice. But all games' existing assets bumped up to a 720/60 would be perfectly fine. I'd preorder it, & I'm generally against that due to it rewarding publishers for releasing unfinished games.

Who wouldn’t want a new FFT2? I’m pretty sure tactics had the biggest impact on me and my friends as we logged hundreds of hours on it years ago. I really hope they do this at some point. With the new tech they could do some really amazing things with the strategy genre.

FF Tactics Advance 2 is actually one of my favorite games of all time. Its for the DS, but damn I have spent hours in it. Replayed it recently and its way better then FFT Advance. Give it a shot

Tactics 2 would be a welcome game. But, at this point, I would also love an HD Tactics Collection. The GBA games might not be as good but they were still fun. They could even add Revnant Wings to fill it out as the Ivalice Collection.
