What if you are in the USA and you are trying to get your CURP online even though all information is submitted correctly and it states your info is incorrect. Being in the USA you are not able to go to the Registro Civil in in the USA. What to do necx?

Hi @anhcao4987 Are you referring to a birth certificate? If so, you can acquire one (or almost any Mexican government-issued certificate) by attending an appointment at a Mexican Consulate office abroad. I hope that helps!

Hello I’m trying to get a copy of my birth certificate online but I notice I don’t have my curp number on my birth certificate and tried putting in my information as well and it says it can’t find me and I’m also a permanent resident and need a copy of my birth certificate to get my passport. I have went to el consulado Mexicano in Los Angeles but they have being having issues with the system.

Hi Jaime. If your Mexican birth certificate does not have a CURP on it and your consulate office abroad has not been able to successfully help you resolve the issue, it may be advantageous to go to an actual Registro Civil office in Mexico and have them amend the problem. It may require them "updating" your birth certificate in their online database and printing you out the newest version of it. If you don't have a CURP registered in the system, they would also be able to assign you one in office. I hope that helps!

My mother is a US resident and has been for 30+ years .Today she renewed her Mexican passport and was told for the first time about this CURP#. The agent told her if she didn't get the CURP she "might" not be able to renew her passport again once it expires in 10 years. My question is this; If she doesn't plan on moving to Mexico or living in Mexico does she really need this CURP number?? Thank you in advance!

Hi Daniel! In my opinion, no. If she has no intention on moving to Mexico or living here in the near future; I don’t really see an immediate need for it. A lot can change in the next 10 years though when she is next due to renew her passport; but I would just cross that bridge when she gets to it. No rush; no pressure. If it helps any, CURPs are pretty easy (& free) to get at any Registro Civil office in Mexico [or Consulate Office abroad]; should she ever decide to get one. CURPs have now become commonplace on every Mexican Birth Certificate. Let me know if you have any other questions. I hope that helps!

Hi. If necessary for your purchase, [and you are not a citizen or resident] you can try typing in the generic CURP for for tourists/visitors mentioned at minute 7:05-7:15 of the video. I hope that helps!

Hi @sandravargas8436 Congrats! Yes, you would have been issued a CURP when you registered your birth for dual citizenship. It is located on your Mexican Birth Certificate, as well as your passport (located next to your date of birth or “fecha de nacimiento”) I hope that helps!

Hi Jai! CURP numbers are assigned to legal residents and Citizens of Mexico. If you have a CURP number, you can find it on your temporary/permanent residency visa card or your Mexican birth certificate. If you were in Mexico for tourism in 2012, you wouldn't have been assigned a CURP. I hope that helps!
