I just decided Doctor Who ended at the 50th anniversary special: the Doctor saved Gallifrey, basically had a new mission for himself and hope, and 'rode off into the sunset'. We even had the most magnificent Doctor of them all come back for a meaningful cameo, who just DOMINATED the scene and was back into role in an instant. That was the finale as far as I was concerned.

I have zero problem with whether the actors cast are black, gay, trans, non-binary, etc. I just really refuse to watch the series after they ruined the Doctor's origin to be a chosen one miracle child AND wiped out Gallifrey and the Time Lords after spending a decade on an extended character arc with the express purpose of bringing them back. That and insinuating Hartnell wasn't even the first Doctor, despite their own modern shown editing footage to show him as the person who originally stole the Tardis.

I grew up with Tom Baker and therefore he's my Doctor (with Peter Davison and Jon Pertwee close behind) and with the debut of New Who (which felt like a completely different series, albeit related, altogether) I was put off by the forced (and wholly unnecessary) schmaltz and soap opera antics. To me New Who has been a mixed bag at best but I fondly stick with (Classic) Doctor Who (+ it's Expanded Universe) as the definitive Whoniverse! 😇😊👏 You're absolutely right in stating how Doctor Who was among the first casualties of this kind of punitive reimagining. However, the first casualty, by a couple of years, was Battlestar Galactica! Bleeding Fool did an excellent article showing how so called reimagined Galactica by Ron Moore was the template and precursor to the destruction of established beloved fictional universes and IPs, along with the gaslighting and trolling of the original fanbase by their toxic entitled gatekeeper 'fans' - apparently I read that Rian Fathead Johnson was a fan of Reimagined 'Galactica'...that figures! 🤔😏 - and while (Classic) Galactica still keeps getting lambasted as a Star Wars ripoff (it never was!) Ron Moore's grossly overrated felgergarb not only usurped the Galactica name but also totally ripped off Space Above and Beyond (+ The Terminator and Blade Runner)....and yet there were no lawsuits against Ron Moore and Syfy (!?) I wonder why! Re: Facebook, at least the sites/pages dedicated to Classic Original iterations of Doctor Who and Star Wars and clearly state NO mention of New Who and Disney/Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars is allowed...while no such thing exists for Classic Galactica whereby you'll still get trolled and gaslighted by GINO gatekeepers! 🤔🤷‍♂️ Why is this allowed!? Honestly, I'm done with all the culture war stuff and ruining franchises too. All of the stuff happening was so obvious many years ago. I was telling people they were coming for the kids next for a decade or so. I don't care any more though. This is the only "negative" video I've watched recently, just because I enjoy the rants here, but I'm honestly done in general. Nobody listened to those of us who said this would happen with society, so they get what they deserve. To me Doctor Who went downhill in 2017 with Capaldis last season when they started putting the message before the story even though it was still watchable the message did get annoying and the season was a mixed bag there were some great episodes and some terrible episodes and the franchise was completely destroyed when Chris Chibnall took over and he did the timeless retcon and completely changed the Doctors backstory and made the Doctor into a rip off version of the Avatar from Avatar the Last air bender and when I heard that RTD and David Tenant were coming back I thought the show was gonna get better but when it was announced that a gay black man was gonna play the Doctor my heart sank it’s not because he’s black and gay but because they’re gonna use his identity to push an agenda and my heart sank even farther when they announced that they casted a black transgender woman to be in Doctor who and I was truly disgusted and disappointed when it was announced that a Drag Queen was gonna be in Doctor who because it’s a family show and drag doesn’t belong in Doctor who because drag is very sexual and provocative and there are kids that are gonna be watching the show and I won’t be surprised if parents stop they’re kids from watching it and I won’t be watching the show apart from the 60th anniversary and because I don’t wanna see this crap I just want good Doctor who back when the show was about a man who travels through time and space in a blue box and not a show about diversity and the message

The words diversity and representation have contributed to the death of many franchises over the last decade or so, and I became tired of the tedious ist and phobe labels being thrown at fans by the Twitter eff wits. I like Sylvester McCoy's era more than I dislike it (and I *love* Remembrance of the Daleks and The Curse of Fenric), but I see parallels in what has been presented to us in recent years as progressive Doctor Who with what was happening in the late 80s---how divisive of fandom it was and how the casual viewers gave up. I don’t agree or support the trajectory of modern media and Doctor Who, especially when it sacrifices story and quality of the show for politics and grandstanding. That being said Men in Drag in the U.K. isn’t a staple of modern media, it is has been apart of British theatre for hundreds of years. This is due to it being illegal for women to play female parts in shows in Victorian era. To this day drag queens have been apart of comedies and dramas in theatre. For someone that’s been a supposed fan of a long standing British show, you would think you could spend 2 seconds googling that.

Indeed, female impersonators have been part of music hall theatre for over a hundred years. They should be classed as apart from the times of when men simply played women characters in plays such as Shakespeare as the type of female impersonator act comes from a different criteria of performance. They're their own thing. A female impersonator would 'drag' their long dresses across the stage boards and was strictly classed mainly as a comedy act for adult entertainment. The concept being that things considered too blue or risqué for a lady to say or sing about under the illusion that a woman was saying/singing them. Your average 19th and early 20th Century theatre in your average town or city was open for most of the day with morning and afternoon matinees consisting of acts made up of men, *women* and even children that were considered suitable for children to watch. The female impersonators or 'drag' if you like during late-evening and night performances, were off limits to a young audience.

The context - In media and on stage Men in drag was done by comedians and actors who played the part of a woman in order to sell either a gag or a performance. Once finished with that performance they took the costume off, went back to their real lives, and if there was another performance booked repeated the act. The point being they were acting, not living the part. At no point were these parts they played sexual in any way. Dame Edna, Hinge & Bracket, Dick Emery, Danny La Rue, even Lily Savage - they were entertainment for adult or family audience. Not Children. And all of them took the costume off at the end of a performance and went back to their real lives... Today? Drag is done by Men who dress and live these parts virtually fulltime. They are predominatly done with a sexual slant to them, they increasingly target children as an audience, and they don't just perform a gig, they actually live their 'role'. It is a completely different set of motives and aims to those oldtime performers and entertainers listed above. Back then none had any interest in targeting Children as an audience, they didn't live the 'role' fulltime, and they were generally thoroughly professional in terms of standards and self discipline. And as for pantomine - let us be completely frank in noting that none of these men dressing in drag were even remotely trying to be Women - it was all pure parody and for funs sake....

Absolutely. Indeed Danny La Rue et al would give you a stern telling off and look if you called them a 'drag act'. They referred to themselves as female impersonators because that's what they were called during those old music hall days. Their acts involved a lot of talent building up a completely different persona, each character having a complete backstory to them as though they were real and had existed since birth. Real thought and effort was put into them. But as you said, once these men were off the stage, they left the characters behind. Their 'drag' wasn't an identity to them, it wasn't a 'repressed' minority that needs activism to normalise it to children. These days if you're known to be a drag queen and had a bit of media/television exposure, they for some reason feel the need to go full drag even when the occasion doesn't require it. You see them on cookery shows, quiz contestants, non-drag reality shows, etc. yet no other profession are coming on these shows dressed in their work clothes or uniform. It's so obvious they're doing it for a political statement and therefore, propaganda... especially on the BBC.

I love how these people use the most disingenuous language possible, for example the interviewer said the "conversations were opening up" because of the messaging contained in TV. Conversation is not the word for a perpetual one sided narrative being peddled. The correct word instead is propaganda. Actual conversation is the last thing these people want, as they'll be the first to demand an end to the livelihood of anyone who dares to disagree with them. Never have watched Dr Karen episodes, never will. As you say the warning signs of RTD having gone full social retard were there for all to see. I will most definitely not be watching any new who again. Like is the case for you, classic who is all I consider to be worth watching and canonical.

I got up to the desperation of getting Tennant back for a couple of episodes before Gatwa takes over and missed all the other insanity! A trans black Rose, the show turned into an erotic gay fiction, whatever the heck that assassin thing is, going full RuPaul drag race. What a cesspool. Fun side note: in actually searching for that assassin trailer the first video was 'the deadly assassin' so I ended spending half hour watching some good Tom Baker Dr Who before finishing this comment.

Most people I talk to don’t watch anything Doctor who after Capaldi and they don’t even care what’s happening with Doctor who anymore which shows how bad bbc fucked up. I became a fan in 1974 and almost gave up on ot when David Tennant's 900+ year old alien time traveler was in love with a 19 year old girl, but then Bollie Piper left. However, after series 11, I gave up on it. Series eleven was just boring. I fell asleep trying to watch some episodes. DW had its time but it has been over for a long time now.

The new cast of Doctor Who is now over-representing these very small demographics and that just screams out, AGENDA, you'd have to be lying to yourself to see it as anything else by this point. Who is this show now for, themselves? It's certainly not for the family unit any more, that's for sure.

I'm not sure which articles or headlines you're reading, but stories about the new cast do talk about their previous roles. For example, all the stories I've seen about Yasmin Finney being cast called her "Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney," not "trans actor Yasmin Finney." And Ncuti has been "Sex Education's Ncuti Gatwa," because that's what he's most known for. How are they not catering to either a) Doctor Who fans of b) the family unit, anymore? Let's be honest the show finally died in 1989. The new show has had its moments (eternally grateful for Karen Gillan as a policewoman kissogram! 💓) and obviously benefited from a greater budget and cgi effects but the longer it went on the worse it got. By the middle of Capaldi it was done and should have died once and for all. Whittakers era is purely for the crazies and activists and the second coming of RTD looks like its even more minority pandering than Chibnall which is a mind blowing thought. The only Who I will ever watch from now on is the classic original show. I'm not even interested in anniversary documentaries, let alone anniversary specials. I hope the handful of fans that are left are truly grateful for what they are about to receive, amen.

I couldn't care less what happens to Doctor Who now. Apathy has set in. It's really sad to see what has become of franchises like Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc. I gave up on Doctor Who after Whittaker's second episode as the Doctor. Not even this regeneration from Jodie Whittaker to David Tennant will convince me to return to the franchise, despite the fact that the latter was awesome as the 10th Doctor. The recent woke PR stunts that occurred with the returning Russel T. Davies and a Ncuti Gatwa supposedly becoming the 14th Doctor put me off even further. It's another bait and switch. Not only does the BBC need be defunded. It needs to either be disbanded or completely privatised. After abandoning franchises like Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc., and going back to watching more anime (which has been a guilty pleasure of mine since the mid-1990s when I was 19, and still is to this very day at age 44), I recently decided to move on to a different science fiction franchise: the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. It's amazing how large the Gundam franchise actually is. For several years, I was hesitant in approaching it, because of its sheer size. Now that several alternate timelines exist, it's become much easier to get into the franchise and I thought "let's give Gundam a shot". I recently purchased several physical copies of various series, OVAs and movies on Blu-Ray, when they were on special and/or sold at a discount (at half price and/or where one could buy 2 for the price of 1). So far, I've watched these series, OVAs and movies in the following order. (Scores and a short conclusion are included. I used Gundam Wing as my entry point, because I recall watching a couple of episodes roughly 20 years ago). Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (Series) [The series is only slightly above average, due to the narrator being too preachy for my liking and Relena Peacecraft being so annoying with her pacifist nonsense. The relationships and interactions between the characters felt a bit shoehorned at times. Final Score: 5.5/10] Mobile Suit Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz (Movie) [The narrator isn't so preachy this time. It was a bit more of a "show don't tell" approach. Relena Peacecraft finally abandoned her pacifist nonsense and was less annoying. The characters felt a bit one dimensional. The protagonists got a slightly better send-off and the animation is a lot better. Final Score: 6.5/10] Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (Series) [A very good series overall, which makes it a perfect entry point into the Gundam franchise and even shows what Wing could've been to some extent. The characters are definitely more multifaceted than the ones from Wing, despite looking a little too feminine for my liking. The plot elements fell more into place. Final Score: 8/10] Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - Awakening of the Trailblazer (Movie) [This movie wasn't as good as the series, but decent overall. The characters don't seem to develop much more, despite the fact they aged quite a bit. The fact that the main antagonist is an alien species that duplicates and assimilates alien technologies gave me a few Star Trek - First Contact vibes. Final Score: 6.5/10] After War Gundam X [A good show overall, which definitely could've been excellent overall if it hadn't been cut down from 49 to 39 episodes and if the apocalyptic scenery had been explored a lot more in a Mad-Max-like fashion with a dash more grittiness. The final third felt kind of rushed. The relationships between the characters felt more organic and natural, especially the one between Garrod Ran and Tifa Adill, and they develop really well. Despite the issues the series has, I personally think it deserves a remake. Either as a 49 episode series, or as a compilation movie trilogy. This show could've been a 9/10, but sadly, my final score is as follows: 7.5/10.] War in the Pocket [A great UC side story and a taste of what UC is like. It also shows that not everything is black and white and how one can get needlessly dragged into a war. This OVA even made me shed some tears at time, especially when the closing credits were running. Final Score: 8.5/10] The 08th MS Team (OVA & Movie) [Another great UC side story and another sample of what UC is like. Like War in the Pocket, the 08th MS Team shows that not everything is black and white, and that both sides have individual war mongers in their respective ranks, and that some people from both opposing sides can come together. Final Score: 8/10] Mobile Suit Gundam (1979 series) [Despite the animation being dated by today's standards, the first Universal Century series still has this fond nostalgic charm to it. The opening theme song “Tobe! Gundam” is really stuck in my head. The flow of this series didn't always feel smooth. It took me a while to get into the groove. As soon as I made it to episode 10, I started getting really invested into the story and the characters. The nuances the series has are things a lot of modern day series and movies lack these days in my opinion. Despite the shortcomings in production quality and the weird introduction of Newtypes, It's clear as to why this memorable series was written by the stuff of legend. Despite the occasional production issues and a few hiccups the overall flow of the story had at times, I can wholeheartedly recommend this very good show. Final Score: 8/10.]

Like other beloved franchises, apathy and disinterest has replaced excitement and joy to this once beloved show. Having watched since the last season of Pertwee, I just don't care anymore. Having bought, books, figures, videos then replaced with each new format. Bought DW magazine, attended conventions, bought collectors cards and purchased Radio Times for the cover. I've probably spent thousands upon thousands of pounds over 50 odd years keeping the show alive during the 70s, 80s and 90s when off air. Yet that doesn't count for anything it seems. My opinion counts for naught and superceded by new comers and those activists who have driven the show into to gutter. So I truly don't care anymore, I'm done with current Who and won't even watch the Tennant return, I have 0% interest in that. Yes I'll continue to replace upgrades in classic Who physical media, but that's it. Brief point I keep hearing "Oh drag has been around for ages", then referencing the past. No drag hasn't been around for ages, what they reference the likes of Hinge & Bracket, Danny Le Rue, and others. They were Female impersonators, NOT drag. The lines are being blurred to confuse and manipulate an agenda and narrative.

I've loved Doctor Who, been watching it since the 70's. With the new era from 2005 one thing that has irked me is the sexualization of the Doctor, I hated the 10th doctor and Rose's relationship arc, I hated the Martha unrequited love arc, I hated Amy lusting for a fling with the 11th. And I really liked Rory, she was horrible to him at first. But overall I did enjoy all the Doctor's, Capaldi being my favorite. It ended with Capaldi, no way could I ever see Jodi Whitaker as the doctor, I get irked when I see pictures of the show with all the doctors and she's in it. What they made was more a parody spin off. I want to say I did try I really did, but couldn't get through even half way of her first season, and it wouldn't of mattered who wrote it, she could not pull it off. Which is why I don't care about the whole wrecking of the timeless child, because none of that was Doctor Who. (In my mind) Now with all this transgender stuff, I think it's going to remain finished with Capaldi for me. Although I will look at the 60th special. My favorite Tennent season was the Donna Noble one, they were great together.

Good to see a new Bowlestrek video! Good rundown. 👍 The Post-Chibnall Era started out somewhat promising: RTD returns? Oh wow! Tennant and Tate for the 60th? Better! Bad Wolf Studios producing? Awright. Sony bought Bad Wolf? Ummm... okaaay... Oh, now it's infused with Disney money? Well, it's poisoned now, both with the American influence (and don't think Disney won't have a say in this going forward) and since everything Disney touched in the past decade has turned to crap. Their ideology is very much in line with the BBC's. Plus, along the way, the woke agenda tickbox casting which was tolerable but it's gotten so out of hand now.
