@@arcanine_enjoyer I've been wishing for this for the longest time. Although they haven't yet brought Wind Waker HD or Twilight Princess HD to the Switch yet. It is my hopes that they do, before the Switch's end of life, and it'd be amazing to see a remake of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks from there as well, but it'd definitely be a lot of work. So many DS mechanics they'd have to rework to work with the Switch. Like Skyward Sword HD except even harder, but I still hope it's possible someday. I also hope that a remake of Four Swords Adventures eventually makes it on to the Switch as well. It'd be the perfect game for the Switch, and it could even be remade in the Link's Awakening style. I'd also love if the Oracle games were remade in the same way as well. *Sigh.* So much lost potential! A man can only dream! 🥲

For Bird's Peak Rock, few in-game details are given so you've got a lot of wiggle room. But if you look at the details of its inhabitants, we can gleam some details that might help guide you: 1) Its inhabitants include only Blue ChuChu, Seagulls, and Kargaroks. 2) Seagulls are ubiquitous in this branch of the timeline but only make 1 appearance for each of the other 2 branches: In Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening. 3) Kargaroks only exist in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which are _entirely_ separate branches. There's no precedent for their existence beyond the games they appear in. - In Wind Waker, Kargaroks are feathered and used as surveillance by Ganondorf and also as transport for his lesser minions like Moblins and Bokoblins. They're clearly utilized as part of Ganondorf's army. Furthermore, these birbs bear a striking resemblance to the Helmaroc King that kidnaps Link's sister and works directly under Ganondorf. - In Twilight Princess, Kargaroks are featherless. Their behavior suggests they are territorial beasts wild beasts rather than having any sort of overarching commander. (Absent the influence of Twilight, of course.) In terms of physical traits of the island itself: 1) The island is little more than large vertical pillars, an _abnormal_ land formation to say the least. 2) There is a cave entrance, blocked by a man-made gate. 3) Inside the cave is a man-made room with a hidden chest that requires the Wind Waker to reveal it. 4) That chest contains a Triforce Chart. 5) There is a wooden post affixed horizontally on the main island, further indicating someone had done some construction here. 6) There is a postbox, oddly enough. This seems to imply that whoever was there was present long enough to receive mail on a regular basis. 7) The Kargaroks have nests at the top of the pillars mentioned prior. 8) Also at the top of those pillars _in the middle of the nests_ are man-made crystals that operate as a switch for the gate that blocks entry to the island's cave. This could have only happened if the crystals existed _before_ the birbs showed up or there had to be compliance from the birds to put them there. My theory: The kingdom of Hyrule hid the Triforce Chart and sealed the gate. Then the birds then nested there naturally. After taking command of them, Ganondorf became aware of the chart from but couldn't recover it due to lacking the Wind Waker, so he stationed the Kargaroks there to deter anyone else from the area. (The Fishman claims that the gulls told him that the "golden Triumph Forks" are on the island. Rather, they said a map to them was. If the gulls can communicate that, I'm certain the Kargaroks are even more able to.) Because those Kargaroks are so territorial, no one person has settled the island. Only birds are there, apart from the lone Blue ChuChu. Hence, the name "Bird's Peak Rock". It belongs to the birds. BAM! Lore-friendly history of the island from in-game information. Hope that can help you in some way.
@javiervasquez6255 ай бұрын
2) Pretty sure seagulls appear at the end of the Oracle games Linked ending and the Wild duology so it's clear you haven't played either game. 5) Lol, a single sign was placed there ergo, that equates to "someone" having done _complex construction?_ All you find there is a chest puzzle involving hitting a few crystals in order to get said chest so i can't understand how you can make the leap of assuming there's "complex construction" on the island at play. 6) It's just a _post box,_ doesn't justify the confirmation bias that because a tiny island in the middle of the Great Sea has a magical post box able to teleport specific mail depending on the person recieving it (someone who can't realize the mail teleportation at play) that magically means it was for someone living there. 8) As stated above this island is nothing more than a mere puzzle to get the chest also kept in the island awaiting for the Hero to come and collect it without any sign or hint that the island was once populated by anyone aside from the kargaroks. It doesn't take a genius to realize this place is just gameplay-oriented for the player to collect items very much like _half the islands in the game._ You're taking it way too seriously with the confirmation bias to be making these leaps in cognitive dissonance. It was a fun read to be sure but please, give yourself time to do something more productive in the future.

First off, I'm liking the project and can't wait to see where this goes. Second, I have an idea for Bird's Peak Rock, I have an interesting idea for them if you haven't thought of anything yet: Bird Peak Rock could become a place where it's said Rito who have recently gotten their wings will "train" in order to get better flying capability. So this could act as several sorts of things in one. One is that this is a mini-game island where your goal would be to complete a flying obstacle course and/or see how far you can "fly". Two is that this is a mini-dungeon island where all sorts of flying enemies can be seen trying to knock you off of the area as you slowly make your way to the peak. Which would make a lot of sense for the whole theme of the island if you think about it. And you can even add a sort of basecamp to the bottom that's full of Rito who are readying up for their travels up the mountains, as well as perhaps some Hylians or other races that look on at the spectacle that is the mountainous region. You could even have some statues of Rito who established this as a course, a telescope that looks up to see how far up it really goes, and even some wind-themed puzzles or obstacles to really add to the atmosphere.

I've just discovered this project and I love it already! In regards the islands like Star Island and Bird Peak Island, I do think it's possible that some of these islands simply could have been mountains off in the distance of no great significance in the past, but given significance by the flooding of hyrule finally making them accessible. Perhaps erosion over time from the elements turned one peak into many on Bird Peak. Perhaps one of the mountains could be home to Snowpeak Ruins from Twilight Princess, and a colder region, or the Icy mountain range from Breath of the Wild. Whatever you decide, I cannot wait to see the results!

What I love the most though is how you tied them to the Wind Waker locations, like turning Hateno village into the Private Oasis, which is just super clever. I think my only real complaint is that the recreations of those buildings doesn't always fit WW's artstyle. You can see it at 2:55, where you have the cartoony castle next to a much less cartoony and more angular Temple of Time. Also, when I heard "train tracks", I perked up. Spirit Train????????????

My friends and I used to fiddle with the Action Replay a ton for Wind Waker. Specifically, the Mega Jump was so much fun. The fall damage always capped at a quarter of a heart, so we'd just go blasting off into space, seeing how much of the game we could skip or which bosses we could cheese. Maybe you could add some kind of mega jump, or turn the hookshot into something more like out of the Batman Arkham games. One, because it would be dope. But two, because it could really help with getting to high places quickly so you can show off the islands & work you've done from a bird's eye view.

And Overlook Island seems like it could be some of its upper spires, or a structure that was built at the top of the same mountain after the flood. Would be a cool opportunity to incorporate it in the northeast! There's also the Eastern Palace, which I think may be part of the Lanayru Promenade in BotW/TotK based on the architecture, and could go somewhere between Eastern Triangle and Thorned Fairy islands.

Star island, or as it was called back before the flood "Star point Mountain" was a sight of prayer to the 7 sages. A statue depicting six of the seven facing inwards towards the 7th of their leader. Paper lanterns would be sent into the clear night sky, like stars rising into the heavens, to carry the prayers and thanks to the spirits of the land's protectors. A stairway hidden under the statue depicting the sage of spirit would lead to a hidden shrine, made by both the Gerudo and the Sheikah as a reminder of the eternal cycle of Hyrule. This idea comes from the look of the island, 6 points with a larger point in the middle, and also involves the hidden grotto under one of the rock formations.

2:40 I'm personally of the opinion that while a static Hyrule exists, we haven't seen it. Think of the scale of it in the games. Villages in Zelda games have 12 buildings and 7 villagers. You can walk from any settlement to the next nearest one in about 45 seconds. If you walk 4 seconds out of a village, you get bomb-throwing moblins attacking you, and yet they haven't overwhelmed the defenceless villages they're squatting right next to. Logically, the villagers should have been slaughtered years ago, considering how close everything and everyone is. The geography changes with literally every game, but each of them are canon, and so is their respective depictions of Hyrule. I think that each game is a retelling of events, like we're being told the legend of Zelda. That's why each game operates on a Disneyland scale, and why everything radically changes between games. You know how you can't leave the Great Sea, even though it stretches to the horizon? I've seen people try to discuss what happened to the rest of the world when the Goddesses flooded it. I've seen answers like "they didn't raise the water, they sunk Hyrule", "Hyrule is AKA a lakebed or in a deep valley", and "The goddesses are dicks and everyone in the world drowned". But if the game we're playing just an interactive story being told to us, then of course they'd say "the entire world flooded". Even in the Bible, they say "the whole world flooded", even though that would result in an atmosphere so moist and humid that you would drown by breathing the air. What happens in the game, I personally believe, is a story. And inconsistencies are embellishments by the story-teller. That being said, I love the detail you're including in your map, and I'm excited to see elements from different games brought together.

You are right, that goes for most open worlds. The scale and time discrepancies are because it is a representation, condensed version of what "really" happened

@@Palendrome No, most open worlds have scale and time discrepancies because they are video games, and it wouldn't be entertaining if you had to travel actual, real world distances to get anywhere. The same goes for Zelda, the above is just a nice explanation for those discrepancies and happens to fit within established canon. Why do people seem to think developers (or any kind of storytellers) start by establishing canon and then use said canon to justify their design choices for the world? It's pretty much always the other way around. Stories are told in specific ways to share specific meaning. Not because the author wanted to make a good self-consistent canon. Sometimes an author will make a good self-consistent canon anyways, but it isn't necessary for creating a satisfying and meaningful story.

@@scraskin of course gameplay is the foundation of these decisions, I didn't say it wasn't. Accommodating modern gameplay is WHY they designed it this way

@@Palendrome You said “scale and time discrepancies are because [most open world games are] a representation, condensed version of what ‘really’ happened.” I’m telling you the cause and effect in this sentence is backwards. The Zelda games could be considered a “representation, condensed version of what ‘really’ happened” because there are scale and time discrepancies. Not the other way around. Forgive me if I sound snotty, I’m just exhausted by the modern trend of treating canon as some immutable reality that a story must conform to, rather than a single tool among many used for writing more engaging stories.

@@scraskin i see what you're saying. I actually completely agree with your sentiment. I don't like when players try to over explain something "canonically" without even giving the real world answer.

What I'd like to see is just filling in gaps and finishing mountain sides. Not a big thing, but it helps to look at completed areas and see them for what they should be instead of the uncanny half finished areas with massive chunks missing that makes it impossible for me to imagine it as a real a place. Good work so far!
