I wouldn't have bought it at this stage. You really won't enjoy it online with how dead it seems to be and you will be stuck without unlocks for good few days or weeks of play. You'll probably give up before you unlock them.

I’ve never played old BF2 but I have a lot of fun memories on Dice’s BF2 and personally it’s one of my favourite games. Even if it may be chaotic with hero’s and grenades I think that’s the fun of it. And killing hero’s isn’t as hard as it is as long as you dodge and they don’t use the force (it’s 50/50 lol)

Dice fucked up by not including Hero Hunt. I loved that sense of being a powerful Hero/Villain being hunted down by a squad of soldiers. Hiding in trees, sneaking someone with Force pushes. Good times

This game would still be getting active development (or we would have a Battlefront 3 in active development) if they had done a better job on the monetization. It's very easy to picture an alternate timeline where the monetization people at Dice/EA weren't brainless idiots and launched the game with a healthy monetization system and the game made enough money to be supported for years. If they had done a more standard monetization like Apex Legends or Fortnite where you just buy skins instead of buying actual game progression, or even had done a standard battlepass, the game would have made so much money because the core game was genuinely good! People like spending money on genuinely good, well made games - its just Dice/EA had put the most insane , absurd monetization in any game ever in the game at launch which backfired in their face tremendously.

Honestly, console lobbies are mostly active (at least in the region I'm in, US). Especially on Co-OP where I spent most of my time post-support-plug-pull. Really SWBF2 is just so nice and pleasing just by vanilla version on console, really makes you wish they continued support of some kind with the game on consoles. Really, E.A missed out on their decisions for abandoning BF2 for Battlefield 2042. I mean, we could still be getting content...perhaps even now as I type. Either way it's said and done. In Europe you find full Galactic Assault and Supremacy servers full all the time, HVV and 2v2 everytime, in Europe is way more played, I play for like 5 years and never seemed dead, for supremacy you find server instantly, I just hit search and in 20 seconds I am in the game.

Thank you for the look back on BF 2. It is interesting, because you play on the Playstation and Supremacy seems to be more or less dead on this platform too. I'm playing on PC and I experience the same. Galactic Assault is the more active of the two large scale game modes here too. I mean, I can only speak for myself, but I played BF 2 since its beta and GA has remained the "main game mode" of this game for me.

I did have fun most of the time playing this BF2, but you're right about the sequel map cause they stink like Jabba's pits and I immediately leave until a good map shows up. Thank goodness we don't have to worry about that in the classic collection

i’ve been playing battlefront for years after they’ve stopped releasing content for it; and i think the player base and community is still strong in certain game modes and there isn’t a lot of toxicity which is great. people are still getting on and having fun 6 years later, which is great considering the path of this game. i got it at release and i’ve played it way more post 2020 than i did then.

Dude, your videos about the details of the maps were my favorite thing to watch back when the game was at its peak. Gotta ask though, why do you never zoom in with your sniper rifles? lol especially on Crait. If you get the First Order side, there's a downed TIE Fighter on the left of the map when the map first starts that's great for cover and you can pick people off left and right with the NT242. And next time you use Palpatine, jump attacks are where it's at. Using him on the ground is a death sentence.

The 104th Battalion (the largest BF2 Milsim in the world) is back at work! We just had an "operation" with our few thousand members from around the globe, where our companies and platoons compete between each other to complete challenges over a few weeks! We had it from mid-November until Dec. 17, and it was a ton of fun. The game is alive with us! I got into this game late so i missed it during it's prime, but i don't care. Getting to play as my favorite faction (the separatists) and crush my enemies as general grievous is just too fun lol

Vanilla Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still populated because of Milsims. I am a part of the COTR Milsim, which has an Xbox and a Playstation division. That is why everyone was working as a team. They were all in a party together.

Assult are like immersive missions of all eras, while supremacy is more like attack of the clones only.., assault is played a lit more..and then you have the usual heroes 4v4, showdown..2v2..very active on ps5... And yeah dying is very easy.

The problem with supremecy imo is dice kinda killed it with their own changes to how the objectives worked. It was way funner imo having to plant bombs than the time based thing they did.
