People need to understand that Lee Chaolan is indeed a solid Tekken character however he does not benefit from heat and as a result he cannot take full advantage of the Tekken 8 meta. He is stuck playing Tekken 7 and just relies on solid neutral to come out on top while other characters can spam the most broken moves with impunity. Hopefully they can give him more tools in heat or more reward for just frame inputs.

i feel like the heat system for lee is an effort to try to bridge the gap for less experienced players that have a hard time hitting just frames. However, higher skilled players already hit these just frames without heat, thus making it next to useless for them. As a dude who can never hit acid rain, this is helpful af in my gameplay but i feel like there should be wayy more reward for hitting the actual just frame in heat to make it useful for higher skilled players.

I love this explanation and I think you are right that the heat system really does benefit and bridge the gap of just frames for newer tekken players (I am one of them) but after practicing and learning them consistently legit, heat almost does nothing for me anymore except for mist trap into ff3 because everyone tries and tech rolls and dies for it. buff dmg of real just frames imo or make it so when you hit a just frame you get way more heat back for it. Really well said tho!

It's strange that the developers chose to give Lee more just frames, heat mechanics that remove the execution barrier and make it his """""gimmick""""", but a lot of them aren't that useful for being the main attraction of the heat system, as shown in the video. For me, if they really wanted to bridge the gap for new players, they would make the mist step combos easier to execute, and I think they just overestimated the power of the just frames, but that's just my opinion, though.

I've noticed that we, as Lee players, are hard required to lab every other character because Lee doesn't have an answer for a lot of the spammy stuff or techs that others have. Any Hwoarang is ridiculous cause we have to know how to play him to big brain him, and there are some traps that are impossible to navigate without seeing it coming. I knew they always made Lee weaker than the top tiers, but keeping his execution requirements while removing the benefits feels like someone on the balancing team kept getting destroyed by Lees lmao. Lee is steppable but not really by that much since he has really good range & homing moves Backdash is very good against him tho

When u talk characters tracking u usually dont take homing moves into account but rather their moves tracking. Like lee needs to d2 , or ff4 to stop sidestep left otherwise. I agree 1+2 great though

FF2 is nowhere near QCB1 that Bryan has. All that "forward advancing" stuff, that appeared in Tekken 8 is too lackluster on Lee's side. Yeah, Lee is defense reliant character, but in the end - Tekken 8 is not Tekken 7. Same gimmicks wouldnt work Edit: "B3,3 is broken, ur character is fcking cancer dude, u are just downplaying. My homie plays bryan as his main so I fight him all the time qcb1 beats ff2 literally everytime as well. only in certain situations I guess I could say ff2 is better but I would say ff2 is only better if it wiffs because when you wiff ff2 and they step you its pretty tough to punish. its not impossible but its hard forsure

The only thing i use heat for is a WS2,3 combo extension, ff3 heat dash extension, and mist trap cause I can’t do that shit without it😂. His heat is alright. Because it helps with his confirms itll always have some use. But the just frame function of his heat falls off since as you play Lee you’ll build the muscle memory to where you wont need it for that purpose in the first place. Not the worst heat but not super great in the long run all thing’s considered

I have been telling this to people day 1 that Lee does not benefit from Heat system at all but I'm consistently talked down to, and accused of being a hard downplayer, funnily enough the people who make the accusations are the ones who think he's too OP and actually deserves some nerfs. There's a bias against Lee which has been streched for far too long, it's time that people stop being wilfully ignorant. I do my part which is familiarizing people with Lee's intricacies and impart character knowledge that I have amassed over the years playing Lee. But Alas! My endeavors are of no avail, sadly.

There is one thing that should be mentioned. His df2 tracks to his weak side so it can stop step happy people cause most of the time they will not side step duck. Also for the wall combo stuff. stepping before going into hitman can realign you so that you don't go on the other side.

I would gladly give up b33 natural for slide to knockdown and/or track again. It helped so much t9 get people to stop stepping at range so i could at least dash in and poke. I agree with heat. Why are we building up our heat to spend on besides just some chip on block and one good mid launcher with ws2,3 into ff3 heat dash?

My thing is to win consistently with Lee you have to basically galaxy brain your opponent every time meanwhile other characters spam the same few moves and watch you guess wrong. Then when you get someone who knows to just block, side step and let you press buttons first it’s hard to win.

Lee has a lot in common with Bryan, heat is mostly a combo extender, very linear, execution and timing heavy, dumb glitches, can’t wild out like a mindless moron, has to take risks all match long, has to outplay the opponent at every instance…has to be sharp. Respect to Lee mains ✊🏼.

Lee slide - 18 frame startup. -15 in crouching if blocked. +3 on hit . 20 damage in total Law & Shaheen slide - 16 frame startup. -23 in airborne state if blocked. KD into guaranteed oki damage. 33 damage for shaheen 36 damage for law Lee slide so much weaker in comparison. Even the just frame version is only 3 more damage thats it. This is why Lee players rn just b33 all day cuz even tho they’re both launch punishable b33 is 19 frames, does more damage than regular slide, gives better frame advantage (+4),puts you into sway position( which is more versatile than being in crouch) and its simply an easier input. Slide is trash asf rn and it’s only useful for a mixup that’s it.

exactly what I've been saying.. only reason to use it is to let the opponent know you can hit them from afar. Hit them with slide a few times then fake a slide and run in to initiate some offense

I agree 100% bro, i watched this video till now, and yeah Lee is really poor on so many levels, ppl need to understand that, they complain abt simple stuff like wall dmg and b3.3 while it's really easy to anticipate and counter with so many possibilites. They killed HMS u3 move, if we compare it to how much it was useful in T7 with wall bounce and everything, i wish they give'em back side step 3, make ppl duck while use the mid one and launch him as T7 screw , and heat dashes except ff3, the others r useless, most players duck 444, or ws 4.4, and he doesn't heat dashes bounce u mid air like kazuya df2.1 or uf1 paul, Claudio has low heat smash but it's trackable bcz he bring his kick from right to left, but Lee's heat smash is the same as db3 move and it's 44% hard to duck, and as u said it doesn't give much dmg, so many things abt Lee in heat r useless. I wish they can fix this, give'em more moves and more counters, and more usefulness while in heat. I want an additional stance to Lee, i know it seems like a big change, but i wish they can give'em additional stance , stance that looks for ex like 3+4+1. in terms of the whole opponents stepping issue i think b1,1 just frame is insanely underrated, its i14 and is almost completely homing, has god tier range and high mid hit confirmable into knockdown or wallsplat, not hard to get the just frame too, and only -5. for the heatsmash yeah the tracking and being launch punishable is too much imo, should be -14 and tracks more to ur right, most if not every character has a great 14f punish now and a lot more have launching 14f punishes so only some match ups would be really risky, that would be a lot more fair imo

@@fightinggm just tested some stuff to see if im bugging, its semi hit confirmable, u cant delay the third hit ofc but u can confirm after the first two hits landing and then press 2, hard to confirm but it is definitely semi hit confirmable its 14f not sure what u mean about it being 15f lol, yes its a high but mid natural follow up thats only -5 on block, ss duck isnt really going to work against it. its similar to leos f2, leo notoriously having bad tracking can use it to right down people stepping to the right, with natural follow ups too, only leos natural follow ups are a high or unsafe mid, lees just frame b11 is similar to how leos would use f2 in a sense and tested the tracking again and yes it tracks insanely well to lees weak side, with the second hit even at least clipping lili side walking but it also tracks inconsistently to people stepping right which is still something but regardless people who know the match up will get caught by this move if theyre stepping to the left, and in most instances people wont bother to step right as much with how much of his tools track towards that side. so i dont really see how lee doesnt have a good tool to shut down stepping towards the left unless im missing something. but still u are a lee master lol so idk
