DODGE EV GEAR TUNNEL? During the fly-through of the car it looked like there was an ICE style gearbox tunnel? Is this Stellantis platform common for multiple powertrain types, including pre-1990's style front-engine rear-drive?

On the subject of gas engine emulation (e.g. sound), I was impressed by Sofyan's demo of Virtual Gear Shift in his review of the 2024 Genesis GV60. This was a feature I was totally dismissive about until I saw/heard it in action. It appears that in addition to sound, which I don't actually hate, it also replicates the feel of shifts.
@charliesullivan43049 ай бұрын
If someone wants engine sounds produced in the cabin, that's fine with me, even though I don't personally want it. But making noise outside the car and imposing that on other people? It's pathetic that anyone would take pleasure in that.

@Snerdles9 ай бұрын
The main problems with cars like that (and the Ioniq 5N, for instance) is that all the shifts do is reduce power output, then cut power output for a moment, then go back to reduced power output. This simulates the feel of gear shifting but ultimately just reduces performance. If you just used all of your power all the time you will get significantly better performance. Sure, the technology is interesting in that it allows you the option of trading pure performance for a more fun and interactive driving experience, but if you are doing anything where performance actually matters you'd always turn those features off.

If the Charger EV uses a 400V system, all a 350KW chargestation will do is cost the owner more money but it won't charge faster. Given an EV's average energy consumption of 0.20 kilowatt-hour (kWh) per kilometer or 0.32 kWh per mile, we can look at the average energy required to cover the daily commute of Americans and Europeans. This efficiency number equates to 3 bucks per 30 miles if electric is 30 cents per KWH, a gas car is about 3 bucks per 30 miles at $3 per gallon of gas. The price of the new Electrify America station is 48 cents per kwh, Tesla supercharger is between 25 and 50 cents per KWH. Do your own math here and let me know if jumping on the electric vehicle bandwagon may be a costly fallacy if not limiting yourself to charging at home
@charliesullivan43049 ай бұрын
You are right that the biggest cost savings happen if you charge at home or work. But you needn't feel limited by that. Mixing in some DC fast charging as needed won't undo the savings from charging at home, or from reduced maintenance costs.

Please look into the financial viability of Rivian for your next episode. I love their mission and all of their cars, including the new R2, R3, and R3X. I really want them to thrive, but I’m concerned about them based on what some investors are saying. Maybe those investors are just short sellers trying to make a quick buck, but it’s worth looking into. Tesla went through a similar period, and they almost didn’t make it. Thank God they did. Maybe share how Tesla got out of that bad situation in your story, and present it as a possible solution for Rivian, if, in fact, they are having problems. Hopefully Jeff Bezos will offer some help, if they need it, since his 100,000 electric Amazon delivery trucks are made by Rivian, and he made an investment of over $700 million into Rivian. I want Rivian to be very successful, just like Tesla. Thanks!

"…totally unique…" Please learn why that is a usage error.

That is a quote which originated with the President at Karma. We spun it into sarcasm. Perhaps it didn't land with everyone. -Producer Tim

@@MissGoElectric The analogy is saying someone is totally dead. Unique is a finite adjective so adding another adjective with it is wrong. I suspect the error is made about 95% of the time, almost as common as the word podium when it is a lecturn or the plural noun troop or troops that is a group of army soldiers.

Your English lesson applies to the originator. We are quoting the executive. We did not originate or validate the statement. In fact, we mocked it. -Producer Tim

Great gig to milk on the new technology but little late. With this tech you need to have it earlier otherwise it’s old news.

Those of us who look closely at electrification do not recognize today as early days. Most of America thinks EVs are nascent. Thank you for commenting and sharing your perspective. -Producer Tim

@@MissGoElectric until is under 25%~50% of cars on the road it’s still early days. Ppl who are interested to switch will look for channels like yours. What I added to that was that by doing recaps you risk to be skipped as old news. Maybe KZbin shorts with the news the day they are hot.

No Tesla news? Kinda refreshing...

Tesla is covered in this segment regarding the quarter of a billion dollars in losses stemming from activist arson in Germany. This channel has always covered electrification with proportional coverage of the players. We try to avoid bias in any direction. Miss GoElectric owns no stock and has no paid association with any EV automaker. She personally owns a Tesla Model S and a Rivian R1T. -Producer Tim
