Bought it. Excellent layout of material, cross-referencing of episodes, and generally extremely well-done exposition of all relevant information. Thanks!

Thanks, the actual show is kinda over dramatized but Iv been interested since I was a child. That is saying some thing since I turn 60 in June. Your version is easier to take in, thanks again,

Bet there must be a spread sheet cross indexed with finds and details associated with each episode. Someday you should do a video on how you organize your facts and story lines. As a research instructional. Great job, as usual.

That video would just be one big plug for my book 'The Oak Island Encyclopedia', haha. That's where I get most of my information from. I have a PDF copy which allows me to very quickly look up all the "stakes" and "spikes" etc. that have ever been found on the Island or mentioned in the TV show. As for organization, the scripts for these videos are refinements of the lengthier plot summaries and analyses I write for MysteriesOfCanada.com.

I am so impressed by your calm organized style to explain so much that can be confusing. I can no longer watch the actual TV show for reasons most obvious. So I just ordered your book on amazon. Can't wait to read it!

@@HammersonPeters Unfortunately the way the TV show has been presented, the mystery is ALMOST ruined for those of us who LOVE mysteries, pirates, pirate booty, nova scotia and history in general. I wonder how many of us remember the readers digest story? I know I originally read it in the digest---but it may have been several years after it was first published, as i remember that readers digests tended to be reading matter for many years. In my home this was true....along with Mad magazines, strangely enough. If its positive, which I'm sure it will be, I'll post a review on Amazon when I'm finished with it. A N

Excellent summary.....great visuals. Hammerson, do you have an idea of where the money pit is in relation to the drill matrix? Is it in proximity to F9 or perhaps F10.
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! No, my guess is as good as anybody's. Which drill matrix are you referring to?
@jamesbradford18155 жыл бұрын
Hammerson Peters I am referring to the drawing that has numeric and alphabetic grid locations of each exploratory drill site conducted by the Lagina’s a few seasons ago.
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbradford1815 Oh, OK, I think they were calling that the "Geotech Grid". I'm not sure where the new drillholes punched this season lie in relation to those old holes they drilled throughout Season 5, but the crew seems to think that the new FG-12 borehole lies at the approximate location of the original Money Pit.

If "wharf stones" are pavers after all, I would think then they are ballast rock removed from a ship while making the swamp.

Hammerson, assuming Nolan's cross is man-made, if you HAD to GUESS, what do you think it's purpose was?
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
It would have to be some sort of marker intended to lead future recoverers in a certain direction.
@johnp8455 жыл бұрын
Yes, obviously. But in a direction to what? And why make the cross so big? A much small cross could easily have guided direction in a much easier way.
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
@@johnp845 I have no idea. To be honest, I'm not convinced it's artificial.

With those thousands of depth charges, were they given a more clearer picture of what is underground? Seems like what they thought might have been a ship, in the swamp, it was only described as a void, right?
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's even a void; just muck with a lesser density than its surroundings.

It’s obvious there was a tremendous amount of activity around the island. Yes it was a dry dock. It was in a good position along the Atlantic route safely out of the way of governments so that ships could restock and repair. WILL there be a treasure? I think there’s a better chance considering it was a well used island instead of some unknown dot in the middle of the ocean, but I’ll believe it when they pull up the first jewel.
@johnp8455 жыл бұрын
Hammerson if you had to bet, what do you think the carbon dating will show on the wood from the supposed original money pit? 1200s? or 1700s? That will either confirm or refute the Templars connection. Thanks for your attempted foreshadowing!
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
I think the majority of the evidence, particular the stuff they found underground throughout Season 5, seems to point to the late 1600s or early 1700s.
@johnp8455 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think you are right. I think it was a French outpost in 1700-1750. They repaired ships there. Any treasure they may have temporarily deposited there is long gone. Still doesn't explain why they dug such a deep pit when a much less deep pit would have sufficed for a temporary period of time? And a booby trapped flood tunnel system would have also hampered their own efforts to retrieve their own treasure?
@CoachForsyth5 жыл бұрын
Have they come to the conclusion that this island in the distant past was not only a small island community, but also a military installation with built in booby traps in case of attack?

Wait a second if dunfield dug a 140' hole, then it doesnt really matter what they find at any depth above 140'. Everything from 140' up has been put in a blender.
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
That depends on how sharply Dunfield's hole tapered. The top of the hole was 100 feet in diameter. About a week ago, Doug Crowell commented on this very question in a Facebook post, saying the following: "Dunfield was centred on his idea of the Money Pit location and his excavation only approached 100 feet in diameter at the very top. His dig quickly narrowed into an old shaft he exposed and likely his dig never really got below 138 feet. Regardless the 100 foot diameter of his dig did not come close to Shaft 2. Cheers!"
@johnp8455 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but the math isn't adding up for me. If shaft 2 is 13 feet from the money pit, how can Dunfield's 100 foot diameter hole not have interfered with shaft 2?
@HammersonPeters5 жыл бұрын
@@johnp845 That's a great question. I'm inclined to trust Doug Crowell on this one, as I'm sure he knows more about all this than I do, but as you say, the math doesn't seem to add up. I suppose Dunfield must have mistaken the location of the original Money Pit when he dug his own pit.

Two shows ago they found the Money Pit location. Did they start digging immediately like treasure was truly there? No. Wasting two shows investigating bullshit stuff - bullet fragments, forts, swamp muck - everything but Money Pit.
