I did stay overnight at the Lemp Mansion in 2011. We must have snagged it in the off-season, as we were the only folks there and stayed in the larger split suite upstairs. There was kind of an eerie feeling to the place, but that's unavoidable when you know the history. And anyplace is going to feel strange when you're someplace unfamiliar at night. We hung out downstairs with the lights mostly off and just chatted with nothing of note. However, when upstairs and winding down for the night, there was one weird event. Something distinctly hit the closed door from the hallway side with a pretty loud bang. I had three friends with me who all witnessed the same thing. We investigated a little bit, checked the door over, but could not explain it. Other than that, beautiful house and worth a visit for brunch.

I love this! I'm willing to bet that the cave systems below the mansion are responsible for low frequency sound which contributes to the feeling of unease and anxiousness that can make people feel a place is haunted.

Just a suggestion maybe for a future video. We once stayed at the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, TX. Our room in the old section of the hotel was next-door to the “King Ranch“ suite. One of the hotel workers let us into that suite and it was the creepiest feeling one could ever experience. Literally the air was heavy and one could almost feel someone who was super angry standing beside us listening to every word we said. The Menger has a host of other spirits roaming its halls. It is next door to and overlooks The Alamo, which is a hotbed of unhappiness in its own right.

One of my favorite old estates/mansions is the Biltmore. I don't think it's haunted, but it's so beautiful. My sister actually works there as one of the gardeners. Old haunted houses are awesome though. I live in a historic district, so a lot of the houses I know of are haunted and there's so many stories I can tell about them, especially mine and my best friend's old house. Love ur content btw!!!! 💕

I live around the corner from the mansion and rented an artist space in the brewery. We St Louisans talk about Zeke, the little disabled boy locked up in the attic as if he definitely exists/existed. You can just walk into the bar and have a drink anytime. They have chicken dinners in the dining rooms on Sundays.

For some reason, this family makes me wonder if they were the inspiration for the tragedy by Booth Tarkington called The Magnificent Ambersons. Orson Welles made a film based on it but the studio took it over and changed his ending to something better.

My wife and I honeymooned at Lemp Mansion. The place very aged. It has a lot of character and is very labyrinthine. This is the basic rundown of the family history. For added sorrow, they say Charles, I believe, shot his dog in the room with him as well.

A very interesting story Just some feedback on production: Your cadence doesn't match the script which means when listening to you speak it can get a bit confusing as it seems like you are ending a sentence but then it continues on after a pause which is tiring for listeners as they are led to feel as though the second part of a sentence is a new sentence so they need to make sense of what was said retrospectively. It's basically the audio version of trying to read writing where the author has put unnecessary commas or paragraph breaks in - it gets hard to know which parts belong together as the clumsy separation throws you off rather than guiding your understanding. My advice on this would be to work on feeling confident to carry the whole sentence through with fewer pauses, putting pauses where they naturally belong such as at commas. It might also be about breath control. If you aren't used to it then you might be speaking in what's known as a "breathy" way, exhaling air unnecessarily, which leads you to run out of air before you can complete a sentence causing unnecessary pauses that are overly long as you stop to get some air. Your intonation is also very repetitive, making your script sound as if it's a recitation and giving it a tedious feel. It can be hard to adjust your intonation to something a bit more natural-like when you aren't speaking naturally. Without variation, your speech will sound monotonous. It's a lot to try and improve on these things especially when they aren't the kind of skills we get raised learning but even minor improvements will make a huge difference. It takes a lot of effort to be a natural storyteller. I'd hazard a guess that your viewer retention drops off really noticeably at around the 15-20 minute mark and that the two issues I've mentioned above are responsible for a lot of this. If you focus on improving in these areas, I think it would make a big difference and your videos will perform much better, as they deserve to. Maybe try listening to some of the big name KZbinrs, especially the ones who do spooky narration like Nexpo or whoever. Listen to the way that their intonation and stress changes as they speak, note how they use a variety of rhythms to how they say different sentences. There is a hidden musical quality to good speeches and once you start getting a sense of this then it will come to you more easily when you're in front of your microphone.
