Will President Joe Biden die in office? If he does, some will blame the so-called "Curse of Tippecanoe," or "Tecumseh's Curse." That Mr. Beat dude explains.

The Curse of Tippecanoe is the supposed pattern of deaths in office of every single American President elected in a year ending in zero going back to the 1840 election. But is it truly a curse? Or just...ya know...another weird series of coincidences.
In 1840, William Henry Harrison does get elected President, but after just 31 days in office, dies from pneumonia. He is the first American President in history to die while in office. Flash forward 20 years later, and Abraham Lincoln is elected President. Lincoln is assassinated after being re-elected on April 15, 1865. He is the first American President in history to be assassinated. 20 years after Lincoln is first elected, James Garfield is elected President. Garfield is the second President assassinated, on September 19, 1881. 20 years after Garfield is elected, William McKinley is re-elected President. He is the third President assassinated, on September 14, 1901. 20 years after McKinley is re-elected, Warren Harding is elected President. Harding dies of a heart attack on August 2, 1923. 20 years after Harding was elected President, Franklin Roosevelt is re-elected for an unprecedented third term. On April 12, 1945, after being re-elected an unprecedented FOURTH term, he dies of cerebral hemorrhage. 20 years after Roosevelt is re-elected a third time, John F. Kennedy is elected President. Kennedy is the fourth President assassinated, on November 22, 1963. 20 years after Kennedy is elected, Ronald Reagan is elected President. Reagan is assassinated on March 30, 1981.
Wait hold up. Reagan didn’t die because of that shooting. He survived the shooting! The curse is broken!
So obviously there are a lot of coincidences here, but there are plenty of folks who criticize the so-called Curse of Tippecanoe.
There are logical fallacies left and right. This supposed curse is an example of confusing correlation with causation, cherry picking information to fit a narrative, and moving the goalposts in order to make the narrative work. This is a similar case to all those Lincoln-JFK coincidences. While the Curse of Tippecanoe is fascinating, the closer you look at it, the less fascinating it becomes. For example, what about Zachary Taylor? He died while in office but was elected in 1848. What about the fact that FDR was still in office LONGER THAN ANY OTHER PRESIDENT AND LITERALLY DID MORE AND HAD MORE OF AN EFFECT ON THE COUNTRY THAN ANY OTHER PRESIDENT? What about the fact that all the Presidents died in different ways and in different situations?

Supposedly, the Curse extends to the residents that live around the Tippecanoe River. Some of my family members believe that if you don't take a jar with the river water with you when you move away, you'll end up back by the river until you die.

The leader of the search of Garfields body only said to check on the wrong side because he didn’t want to be proven wrong. Immediately after he was shot they went in his body ON THE FLOOR. Even though the floor had GERMS, and back then germs could lead to death. 🤦‍♂️

@@nathananderson716 No, it was that they scanned him on a bed WITH springs that made the surgeons search all around his body for fractions of the bullet. He didnt broke the curse, he instead amplify it, instead of the US president dying on the year that ends with 0's it will be the US as a nation that dies. The entire 2020's is the results of Reagen surviving and the decline of the US Supremacy, he shouldve had kept the curse under control and sacrificed himself imo

I remember when Reagan was shot. I just got back to the barracks from class. We ran up to our room & turned on the tv. He was at the hospital. We didn't know if he was okay or not. We just sat there quietly watching the tv. The first guy to say something said, "It's that curse." Fortunately we didn't lose another president. I hope we never do again.

As a direct descendant of Tecumseh, I have never heard about Prophet making any curse. Good story though. You also left out that Tecumseh was invited to speak with a governor, and while they sat outside on a bench, Tecumseh kept moving closer to the governor, and the governor would move over. Tecumseh kept doing this until the governor finally said, “if you keep moving over I will fall off this bench”, Tecumseh replied, “is that not what you are doing to my people”? Smart man.

@Alexander Yeager my great great grandmother and my great grandmother and grand mother and mother were all buried on the reservation in OK. Apparently you know better then my ancestors of Our Shawnee blood line. I do not think my great great grandmother would have had any reason to lie about being a decedent of Tecumseh since that is, like you said to easy to verify. What is your blood line and proof that there is only one descendent left?

@STho205
@STho205 3 жыл бұрын
You can easily do that yourself with population and GDP listed online for every state. However the flaw with such a comparison is that without the national free trade union and national transportation infrastructure, many seemingly very wealthy states would quickly fall into very hard times and be resource starved. California would not be able to water its population or crops without international deals. Most of its import trade from Asia is transported freely to other union member states. That would dry up.... Similar for many other states so it is a worthless comparison. Individual oranges from a crate of apples.

True story. My buddy got busted with a joint in Tippecanoe Michigan. He was the smartest kid a knew and had a full ride too Michigan tech college. His parents were super strict and disowned him and lost his scholarship and kicked out of college over literally a joint. He became suicidal and depressed and try to kill himself a bunch of times and seemed to fail every time. He drove his brand-new Pontiac vibe into a tree at like 70mph according to the police. They found him unconscious in the trunk with superficial injuries. The front of the car was in the back seat. This curse has to be real. I haven't seen him in a long time. This curse left him just miserable and couldn't even die.

This is also based off the Jupiter/ Saturn conjunctions that happen every 20 years. Astrologers have used the Jupiter/ Saturn conjunctions to represent the beginnings and ends of empires for thousands of years and a few presidents have died under the Jupiter/ Saturn conjunctions. The Jupiter/ Saturn Conj in the 80’s (Reagan) was the first one in an air signs, and although there was one last conj in the earth sign Taurus in 2000’s, the one we just had was the first one in air signs for the next 200 years. Some of you might remember the great conjunction in aquarius that happened this past December. Although joe Biden didn’t go (yet) it is interesting how militarized and protected DC was in that moment.

While I have you here, I have two questions about the rise and fall of American Political Parties. What made them rise? What made them fall? One more, please, I also have a question about schisms. Can we, do we, have we ever called the fracturing of a political party a schism? Is a schism a thing in history, other than "The Great Schism" of 1054 and the multitude of other schisms in the "Church(es)" history. The definition of schism doesn't limit it to just "the" Church but that's all Google will let me see. What are they keeping from me? Thanks Mr. Beat. You're The Best!

The link between Harrison, Taylor and Polk (who died 3 months after his presidency) is perhaps more interesting. A few doctors looked into their deaths and found it highly unlikely that Harrison actually died of pneumonia (the cause of death doctors gave up). But none of the symptoms he had are related to it. The cause was most likely related to the infected water supply of the White House. An uphill dumping spot for sewage infectd the surrounding water, causing a severe gastroenteritis and the deaths of at least 3 US presidents. (Source: Jane McHugh and Philip Mackowiak)

Fun fact to bring up is that both Lincoln and FDR both surived the 0 year terms for which they were elected, they both were reelected for the following term in a year ending in 4, and died early into the terms following the 0 year terms. I saw a program that talked about this (I can't remember the name of the program) and they called it the Zero Year Curse. There they said it was Nancy Reagan who broke the "Zero Year Curse" by consulting with an astrologer and planned President Reagan's events and public appearances according to what the astrologer recommended.
