O5car Magu1re according to her daughter, Cass' manager made up that story so her death wouldn't be linked to drugs, as there were drugs found in the apartment. Cass however died of a heart attack in her sleep.

I was friends with Cass. This ham sandwich thing began because the death scene wasn't properly secured and some hack reporter saw a half-eaten ham sandwich so chocking on a ham sandwich made far more flamboyant copy than the real reason. Cass had muscle mass loss due to her incessant dieting - fasting really, then she'd become frustrated at the slow rate of losing weight. So she would begin eating again. All this yo-yo dieting induced massive muscle mass loss. The heart is a muscle. The coroner's report cited massive heart failure. Cass would've been 80 this year, she was 9-years older than me.

Cass Elliot was having health problems. As for the apartment being cursed, its possible. Maybe the negative energy was already there before Cass and Keith Moon stayed there.
