Cursed soul is on its own team. A Cursed Soul swaps role with players. When someone becomes a Cursed Soul, they became a Cursed Soul of their faction, and the original Cursed Soul becomes whatever the other player's role was while staying on the Cursed Soul faction. For example: If a Cursed Soul swaps with a Jailor, the Cursed Soul becomes a Cursed Soul Jailor, and the Jailor becomes a Town aligned Cursed Soul. The Town Cursed Soul can also become a different role. So if the Town Cursed Role swaps with the Coven Leader, then the Town Cursed Soul becomes a Town aligned Coven Leader, and the Coven Leader becomes a Coven aligned Cursed Soul. Neutral Evil, Neutral Special, and transformed Neutral Apocalypses cannot be swapped with, but Neutral Killings and untransformed Neutral Apocalypses can.

I mean, considering Vigi was created with OG TOS mechanics in mind, major function is killing a Jester (since town won't want to risk voting) and taking out Mafioso/mafia support. In TOS 2 tho, I'm surprised that thats one of the roles they chose to keep vs some others.

New/Changed roles in BetterToS2 Admirer: Accompany someone each night. The player you are accompanying now has Roleblock immunity, their visits are now Astral and they are cured of any negative effect. Accompanying someone will make Bodyguards and Trappers see them as a non harmful visitor Psychic: swapped the visions around, Evil on even and Good on odd Oracle: Select a town role, that role will be granted powerful defense if it is in the game Trickster: Place a magic mirror in front of a player, if they are able to attack, they will attack the mirror and it will be absorbed by the mirror, then you can choose another player to unleash that attack on to them. When your attack target is revealed dead, the cause of death will be the role of who ever attacked your mirror. Unstoppable attacks will shatter the mirror and you can't attack another player Banshee: Shriek at a player each night, the next day that player can't see chat or whispers to them, you can't choose the same player twice in a row. Gains basic attack when in possession of the Necronomicon Dreamweaver: You can only drive town members insane Baker: Give 3 types of bread to a player White Bread: Gives basic defense to someone Wheat Bread: Reveal a players role and the role of anyone that visits them to Apocalypse members Rye Bread: Roleblock a player Soul Collector: The player you visit in hopes of collecting their soul will appear as suspicious to investigative roles and as Soul Collector to roles that reveal Auditor: Roleblock a player at night, you also steal any charges they may have left if they have any (EX: Audit a veteran, you've stolen 2 remaining alerts from your target). You can also smoke bomb your target to prevent them and any visitor from getting results at night, you will also now know your target's role. If all town roles die the Auditor leaves the town in victory Inquisitor: You start the game with 3 heretics whom you know the roles of. you can then visit a player and inquire if they are one of your targets. You then can vanquish them if they are one of your targets, but if you kill a non heretic, you lose the rest of your attacks, when all 3 heretics have died, the Inquisitor leaves town in victory Jackal: You start the game with 2 recruits who are linked to each other, these recruits are two players that have different win conditions. Recruits can no longer win with their original team and has to win with you. You gain a Powerful attack once both recruits die. If you're dead but the recruits are still alive at the end, you all win, if it's just you alive but the recruits dead, you all win. Judge: Subpoena a player at night and learn their role. During the day, you can call court, which makes all chat messages anonymous while your messages with say "Court" at the start (EX: Court: This person is guilty). Votes are also anonymous and you get 2 extra votes, if all town roles die, Judge leaves town in victory Starspawn: Isolate a player at night starbounding them from visitors, you will learn the roles of anyone that visits, attacking roles are immune to this however. During the day you can activate Daybreak, which prevents all day abilities from being used, if all town roles die, the Starspawn leaves town in victory Cursed Soul: You can actually win with this role with this mod as they're there own faction, while also creating some funny scenarios if the people you swap with then swap with an another town (EX: Cursed Soul swaps with Jailor, that player is now a Town Cursed Soul, the next night they end up swapping with a Doomsayer, that player is now a Doomsayer for the town and not Neutral Evil)

That town wildling... it'd be a really cool role if there was a neutral, Mimic, that picks two targets. Steals the role of the first target and mimics the team of the second. And the team is revealed to everyone on the same team. For example, if your first target is the serial killer and your second target is the arsonist, you are now a serial killer working for arsonists, and all arsonists in the game know that. If you're aligned with jesters, you win if any jester wins. If you're aligned with an executioner, you win if their target gets voted out, even if executioner is dead. If you're aligned with a pirate, you could whisper that pirate and give them the kill, winning with the pirate even if you're dead. The target you stole from becomes an amnesiac aligned with the same group they used to be. So with that serial killer-arsonist example, you get an amnesiac working with serial killers and a serial killer working with arsonists. Just copying the role would work too, but then you could end up with two jailors. Unless you can only copy a role from the grave, like an amnesiac. Actually, that would be really cool too, you get to pick a role from the grave and you get to pick a living player, and your goal is to get that player a win, kinda like Lawyer was in Among Us.

My understanding of vanilla is that Horsemen (War, Pestilence, Famine and Death) can not die to Conjurer, but the untransformed Apocalypse versions can be killed by conjurer, this is due to Horsemen having invincible defence, the only two other vanilla roles that can get Invincible defence are Pirate and Doomsayer, and that is only once they have fulfilled their victory condition where they will immediately leave town after (so can't be targetted by conjurer anyway)

It was so interesting to see the modded version of this great game! I can see potential in a lot of roles, especially Cursed Soul, although it seem that role works best when there are many more killers in the game. Ze did get a bit unlucky with how that round played out, but it was fun to see a Neutral Wildling, lol. I also can see why they needed to turn off some of the Neutrals who only won with Coven, since it started turning into an Among Us modded Survivor situation, where people just didn't care what happened as long as they stayed alive and gladly voted out Town. I did enjoy Larry's aggressive Jailing, lol, Kara working with the town to attack the evils after her Conjuring death failed, and the collapse of the Vampire empire! This was definitely a fun experiment and if you keep tweaking the settings I'm sure you'll get some fun games once you become more used to the roles! Thanks for uploading another great video for us, Ze!

@@zura8879 Yeah the problem that game is they want 'to give content' to other streamers. A little luck was involved since no one was hit until like N5 or 6 as vamp. Another issue is the game was originally a text game. Having full blown conversations just won't fit the time limit so you have to interrupt filibustering or talk over non round or important info. It'd be nice if the game would let them augment time but it is what it is. I see a time when Banshee might be used on Chilled a lot cause of his filibustering. No context will make it much harder for him to do that.

I love that Cursed Soul is an actual role swap, reminds me of OG Disguiser mechanics where as a Disguiser when someone is killed you steal their player model and when your body showed up in the morning it listed their role/will (which is why its a TOS tradition/mannerism to put your name at the top of your will, bc if the name at the top of the will was different you knew that name was now the Disguiser). Fun fact of the day. Glad to see this type of mechanic having a come back even if its in a mod bc i always thought that was so cool and i wish they didnt take it out and instead just patched it to not show a will or something.

I need to reserve full judgment until I've seen more of Better Town of Salem 2, but so far I think I enjoy unmodded more. Especially since some of the new roles got banned anyway and people didn't seem to enjoy playing them much (Banshee for example). It's fun to try something new, and I'm definitely not against more modded TOS2, I'd like to see all the possibilities. I know it's probably a very unpopular opinion as well, but so far I just enjoy vanilla more.

Also you have weird interactions like Starborn which can survive the conjurer. Theyre most likely gonna get lynched by town immediately after since they are basically coven lite.

Banshee in VC might work by server deafening so that they can still talk, but then they don't know that they're talking over someone... It definitely works better in text chat

On the other hand, it might make it so that the Conjuror doesn't just randomly shoot their meteors anymore and waits for more context. Might result in less random killings, who knows. I kinda wanna explain the first round retri/vig lack of shot on the last night because it involves what I think is a bug with ToS 2 that didn’t exist in ToS 1 to my knowledge. The reason Skadj didn’t kill Xeen the final night is because the vigilante corpse he was using was out of bullets. But a bug interaction between vigilante dieing the same night he shot a town member saved his corpses ammo count at 2 instead of at the 1 it should have been at after shooting twice. Skadj actually got more attacks than he should have because of that but wasted one bullet on Kara who had too high a defence and didn’t have the ammo to shoot Xeen. Sorry for nerding out and explaining it but the extra ammo interaction/bug is very interesting to me and I kinda wanna know if it was in ToS 1 without my knowledge or if it has something to do with the way they made ToS 2 specifically.

Honestly, I don't it is the vampires slowing things down, it is the lacking of killing from Coven and Neutral overall that is slowing the games down not to mention the lack of voting as well. Vampire realistically in TOS 1 either took over the entire town or they were killed off incredibly quick you didn't really see in between gameplay from Vampires. Seeing the roles in game 2, that game went much slower than it should have. The starbound ability also slowed down vampires so it is something to consider. But by night 8 ideally the Vampires should have five if the vampires don't hit coven or neutral and if none of the vampires are killed and at the same time town should be dwindling, but neither of that was happening. It seems to be less of a role issue and more of what everyone is doing. There definitely is a lack of voting which means no extra time for questioning roles.

Maybe it's just the role list they are using, but I feel like for a mod called 'better ToS' it adds a lot of Neutral roles that cannot kill and are incentivized to not vote and delay the game. The Cursed Soul, Starspawn, Judge and Auditor seem especially problematic for this. Imo that just exacerbates some of the worst aspects of original ToS. Still it was interesting to change it up from regular ToS for a bit. Skadj should have won that first game though, Coven Leader is still stupidly broken for no reason even in modded.

I think if you want to better explore Cursed Souls, trying out a game with more killers would be better (a little faster). Something like 2 Cov, 2 Apoc (one guaranteed Bers), 2 Cursed Souls, and the rest as town with Jailor. You can end up with wild combos like Town Bers or Coven Jailor and the games won't last quite as long.

In that first game the reason Skadj couldn't shoot a second time is because the Retributionist can only use the same amount of bullets the original Vigilante has left, since Ze fired 2 it meant that only 1 was left.

The new mod seems interesting. Bit confusing since there's a lot of new changes, but hopefully it'll be easier to understand the more they play it. There also seems to be a lot of balancing issues so far. 56:50 They should definitely add the option to customise roles in the future tho imo (like Among Us).

Good ol' Ze, return to form with the half-paying attention habit. One of the few people that I know that actively stream and will manage to get distracted and not pay attention at the most key moments, such as how to play a Mario Party mini-game, see that he is blackmailed in Among Us/this, that someone said something very important that would make it highly suspicious to claim only to claim it right after, all of this culminating in Ze failing and losing in situations where he would have been fine to begin with, if it wasn't for the constant checking on his stream or whatever else he does during those bits. He does care a lot more about not losing/wasting footage than doing okay in games though, which helps keeping the content rolling, but it does lead to strange mishaps that most other people wouldn't tend to do, whether they know the game or not.
