I much prefer the original show it actually dealt with food fuel and energy shortages, disease , and even risk vs reward for the fleet and not only its warriors but also its civilians... human cultures were different then our real life cultures they even had several new languages "geminees" among them... and the use of lasers and laser guns auto targeting turrets and the ultra high tech look of the Cylons and their ships and weapons was perfect.. it truly was awesome the newer show had some cool ideas but it was ultra violent had rape and torture... and the Cylons themselves were done so cheaply "the on foot centurions and their masters" and I hated that they used.. "bullets"

Just modify the costumes too be more comfortable and easier for the stunt actors too see in and it would be perfect oh and keep the robot voices much better that way and the sliding eye sensor... and for the love of God use lasers! Not bullets.. I hated that in the newer version they used bullets and were built by humans and trying too.. replace humanity? What was the Cylon plan anyway in that version?

The very ORIGINAL Cylon Imperious Leader had a very VERY DEEP, OMINOUS, MACHINE-LIKE voice. When ABC-TV ran promotional spots for BSG, just before its Sept 17, 1978 debut I remember hearing the Imperious Leader issue the following edict... "THE LAST BATTLESTAR IS TO BE HUNTED DOWN! AND IT'S HUMAN REFUSE, DESTROYED!" When the Imperious Leader spoke. He DID NOT SOUND LIKE John Steed!

The quoted line was used in a "promotional trailer", that aired on at the end of a ABC-TV Sunday Night Movie, in the weeks leading up to the début of Battlestar Galactica. The line I'm remembering was used BEFORE some corporate A-HOLE at either ABC-TV, or Universal Studios, got cold feet because of the 20th Century Fox/George Lucas 'LAWSUIT', that claimed that BSG was a rip-off of EFFING SAR WARS.

Was not meant to be a tv series but series of tv movies, ABC insisted on a weekly tv series which quickly got behind schedule and was costing over a million per episode back in 1978 and had to keep reusing previous effects footage to keep up with the network deadlines.

I'm not sure if it would have worked or served the script better if they had used different pitches of speech to clarify which cylon trooper was speaking in a similar way to how they did in Doctor Who, to make it clear which Dalek was speaking. They seem to just be using camera angle to show which cylon is speaking . It seems like a no brainer but perhaps that was the point and if every cylon was so similar it made it more scary .

The Cylons were done using the EMS Vocoder 1000. "Funky Town" was done using the Moog 16-Channel MBVO 327A Vocoder which is a clone of the Bode 7702 Vocoder.

The original trilogy obviously i think it could totally work like friendly headbutting between Starbuck and Han Solo over the affection of Leia, the Empire taking over the Cylon race and Darth Vader overthrowing the Imperious Leader, a badass shootout between the Cylons and Stormtroopers, R2D2 meeting Muffit, the Galactica forming an alliance with the Rebel Alliance, so many possibilities!

Somewhere (don't remember where) I read that the late Glen Larson originally wanted to use Lou Ferrigno along with a hissing rattlesnake and a ring-modulator for the Cylon voices. After hearing a test run he deemed it too frightening so went with the EMS Vocoder 1000 voiced by Michael Santiago instead.

Having multiple centurians in one craft offers advatanges that an autonomous fighter, which can only act as a fighter. In planetary landing scenarios, there is a 3 centurian patrol potential per craft.

The big gun storyline never made much sense. It was a fixed position weapon. They could have easily adjusted course to avoid it

It was explained in the ep that adverse astronomic conditions made it absolutely necessary to pass close to the planet hosting the Ravashol Pulsar. Neither could they stay where, they were due to the Cylon task force following them.
