Only this time it’s different. This time we have rebellion. This time we have protests across the world, across tv, radio, sport entertainment. This time the Prime Minister of the U.K. has condemned yet another act of state killing. I know some of the virtue signalling is trite, and I know a lot of the sentiment is bandwagon jumping. But there IS a bandwagon. This time, the fighting back may provoke actual change. This time it may, at long last sweep away the Carlsons, the Ingrahams. These incendiary nut jobs have reached the end of the road. This time, stuff just might happen.

He left them there cuz he didn't have his backpack. He came back for them the next day when a different store clerk was working who thought he was stealing and called the police. It's a complex situation that is more than he was a thief. He definitely didn't deserve to be killed
@seanmatthewking3 жыл бұрын
@@nathanlandolt5505 Either way, facts like these are never relevant to police shootings. The shooting isn’t more justified if he previously had a criminal record, what matters is how much of a threat they presented to the cop at the time. The reason Fox and right-wing people do this because they want to suggest he deserved. They want viewers to see dead black men as criminals, rather than regular people like them. Because if they’re regular people, the audience might have to reconsider whether the cops did something wrong. But if they’re just criminals, all is fine in the world, just one more dirtbag in the street. Right wing people don’t understand the significance of the martyr-they don’t realize it’s not about the individual, it’s about what unjustly happened, what repeatedly happened.

This is actually one of my favourite moments from Jon Stewart. When i heard about he Fergeson shooting and how everybody was saying it was a racial problem, i really thought that they were just yelling stuff. I thought that they were 'playing the race-card', and i thought: "This is an incident between cop and thug, nothing more." But then i saw the evidence that Jon laid out, and i thought: "Aha, they are actually right. I stand corrected". This is what i like about Jon Stewart, because he is not yelling stuff, he is presenting evidence.
@soulwailer33942 жыл бұрын
What evidence was presented though? Nobody knew the facts of the shooting when the protests broke out. Even Jon is reduced to playing on people's emotions. He's saying that since a bunch of people are angry and protesting, their cause is justified. The reason we have a justice system is precisely because mobs are not a great way of deciding emotionally charged situations. His logic is super flimsy here.

It's like calling Chomsky and Gore Vidal 'biased towards Hillary.. against the fucking Republicans" and walking off thinking you've committed a mic drop and opened my eyes to some sort of new reality in which Gore Vidal and Chomsky become Clinton fans lmao. But the concern for women and LGBT people, no matter how much some people scream, they will not be heard. Like the fact that kids are forced to carry their pregnancies to term amd shutting down of planned parenthood. But all feminists are the same, so doubt they are trying to do anything about that. And when they do they are certainly getting nothing to help from the orange administration. Most of the male tears laughing people are snarky assholes anyway, unlike women, there's no specific law that prevents you from having your whole life and body ruined. I can understand these people's frustration then. Not an excuse to shut down opinion but that isnt happening. When Jordan Peterson can't do his public talks/lectures and not without getting at least half of the death and rape threats Anita Sarkessian gets (I don't support her but like you I think violence amd threats only begets more of the same), THEN I might take what you are saying a bit more serious.

Londoners are too tired to give a fuck .. but every now and than there are parades in the middle of the day where grown men are walking in the center of the city in their underwear, have strap on s and mimic sex , suck on dildos, whilst carrying signs like " deal with it ", " i heart cock" and so on ... naked women with piercings and tatoos and signs that range from "free the nipple " to "fuck the system" to "equality for women " to "free the pussy " and so on .... the laws that govern our society would have a couple of straight people making out hard in public stopped and warned for indecent behaviour because it was decided that young minds are not ready for everything we do as humans , same as animal slaughter , responsibility of leadership, war ,etc .. there are a number of things that toddlers and children can't deal with without getting traumatised...so when this double standard takes place it only creates animosity between people....and frankly nobody cares about another's sexual orientation as long as it's not what makes that person entirely...check key and peele office gay or something like that and you'll know where I'm coming from ......in regards to abortion I don't think anybody should be forced to have a child , especially (rape victims, poor people, unlucky people that get pregnant even with condoms and a few others that make the list) but that powerlessness doesn't stop with women.... if, as a guy you get someone pregnant, and you don't want a child , you have no say in the matter, and , by law , you have to raise and support that child and his mother until adulthood....I think that's a bit fucked up .... but if this wasn't in place , you would get a bunch of assholes that would refuse to take any responsibility (I know guys with 11 children from 9 women......) that would let this women rely on the government to provide for them ....and if abortion would be permitted 100% , you can have a growth stop in population, and lack skilled workers to run the country and have to import labour and on and on it goes the rabbit hole.....I found that most things are grey in this life .. not black and white, good or bad ... but a mixture of both in everything ....regarding Peterson, the moment his lectures will get stopped on accounts of threats, that's the moment when physical conflict will be imminent......I would like to talk more and get more details on each topic but I feel like I've already wrote a novel ....anyway...that's my 2 cents in .... take care:)

if this guy stayed at the daily show for 10 more years he could have easily rivaled Johnny Carson as the best to ever do it. Even doing this for only 16, I'd say he is at least 3rd behind Letterman and Carson. There is just nobody like him.... and I can't get enough.

Hold on... We have Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Sam Bee, John Oliver... and yes, Trevor Noah. We don't lack smart, funny people who can inform us while making us laugh (or at least smile) at the assholes who run things in the US. Pick one or several, then pay attention. You'll be better for it.
@seanmatthewking3 жыл бұрын
@@robertaclark6079 They all suck, except Oliver. Colbert was only good on Colbert Report. The rest just aren’t good. Trevor is funny sometimes, but he doesn’t bring the same insight. It’s sad to me people see these others as Stewart’s equivalent.
@robertaclark60793 жыл бұрын
@@seanmatthewking comparing late night comedians is like comparing apples to oranges- each has their own, unique style, and their own insights (along with their respective writers). Pick one or more you like and stick with them. It's hard to criticize a person's taste in comedy. What you find hilarious and edifying, I may find horrifying. I have a point of view you may find ill-informed, even though I think YOU are stupid. Each of the late night, politically oriented hosts has their fan base; those you find unfunny have a huge audience. Who's right- you or the millions who are loyal to Colbert, Bee, Kimmel, Meyers, et. al.? I'm going with the rest of my fellow fans.

When that woman at Fox News said "Our worst fears are upon us" or whatever, I immediately responded: Trump has been elected?!!? May god help us all. On that topic, if Trump is elected, I will either move to Ireland or blow my brains out. I am not kidding.

He reached for the gun. He deserved to get shot at the very least. Did he deserve to get killed? Maybe not. But that's how police officers are taught to handle situations in stupid America. I wouldn't blame the officer, I would blame the system for not training police offers better. Eric never reached for a gun. He didn't put up a fight. That situation didn't have to end in that way. Brown on the other-hand basically signed his own death certificate. If you don't respect cops, they're not gonna respect you. Charging at a cop and threatening him is not the way to handle a situation and he was old enough to know better. Bet he thought he was being "cool".

@yakojjy9 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah, I'm sure they expected such a drop in ratings for Jon leaving. That's still not that bad though. I still like it because it's basically all the same writers, but it really should have been given to someone with more energy and anger. Trevor is funny in a nice guy kind of way, which is kind of a different direction than Jon. Prolly been watching it a lil more since I made this comment. Not every night like I used to, I usually just play all the episodes over the weekend while I'm playing video games or something and listen in.
@NathanWubs9 жыл бұрын
Wilbur Jenkins I like the comparison that was made in an article I read. John was like "Saturday Night Live" and tervor is like "Mad TV" . Both are okay, but I could watch SNL all the time. Mad TV only in short burts. He seems nice but he has had a troubled past. A lot of like racist comedy and stuff. So not being able to do that all the time means it different.
