Kilborn is a weird case. He went from a nobody, to ESPN to the daily show for 2 years, then did The Late Late Show for 6 years. Then just disappeared

Craig was the Daily Show of my childhood. Heck, Comedy Central from the mid/late 90s was even more of my childhood. Massive blocks of old SNL, Upright Citizens Brigade, and replays of Andy Kaufman documentaries almost every other day. Oh, and Harland Williams' "canned ham" special where he interviews the cast of There's Something About Mary seemed to play all the time. It was a fun time 💛

Kilborn and Colbert did more than moved from cable TV to broadcast TV. They moved to CBS LATE NIGHT! Kilborn replaced Tom Snyder on the Late Late Show, which came on after Letterman. Kilborn lasted from 1999 until 2004. As for Colbert, he replaced Letterman on the Late Show in 2015.

Viacom Doesn’t want you to know how good the daily show was. Viacom just announced Comedy Central, under ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group president Chris McCarthy, has charted a new course for the cable network. The cabler's new strategy focuses on three areas of content: adult animation, topical series (The Daily Show) and comedic made-for-TV feature films. No more Tosh , drunk history or any other shows accept the Daily shit Show

Back when The Daily Show was good and not as political as it is now. Craig Kilborn put that show on the map, and because of that, he was able to host The Late Late Show on CBS in 1999. That is a true success story right there. Now, I have an idea. Let's make a petition to get Comedy Central to acknowledge Craig Kilborn as the first host of The Daily Show online. I mean, come on. In 2021, The Daily Show will celebrate 25 years on the air. I think that it's time for everyone to know the truth.
@baldvee
@baldvee 3 жыл бұрын
i don’t see why something being political is necessarily a bad thing. politics are important and whether people like it or not, its a part of almost every aspect of our lives. but it’s overwhelming and frustrating and jon’s daily show helped people cope with the absurdity of it all by making light of it. craig was a fine host but personally i think jon took TDS in a direction that was way more relevant and important to society. idk if you believe this so don’t take it too personally but it feels like most of the people who complain about TDS becoming more political are only upset about it bc they don’t agree with jon’s politics in particular

@@baldvee Here's the thing. Jon Stewart did a good job on The Daily Show, and so did Craig Kilborn. Of course, with the both of them, we were getting a balance of everything, and The Daily Show wasn't biased. Now, with Trevor Noah on board, and with everyone being easily offended now, The Daily Show started being one-sided. I like Kilborn's version of the show, and I like Stewart's version of the show, too. It's Noah's version of the show that scares me. Does that make any sense?
@baldvee
@baldvee 3 жыл бұрын
@@KungEMuller Oh yeah that makes sense! I’m not a huge fan of Noah as a host either. Aside from the fact that I think he’s a lot more about defending party over principles, I don’t think the format really suits him at all. I gave him a chance but stopped watching pretty quickly. Seems like we’re in agreement here and I just misinterpreted your comment haha sorry about that
@KungEMuller
@KungEMuller 3 жыл бұрын
@@baldvee It's okay. It happens. It's not just The Daily Show, though. Basically every late night talk show is the same thing now. You either support a principle or a party, but if you support a principle, then you're going to be fired very quickly. That's basically what late night TV has become. That's not right!
@baldvee
@baldvee 3 жыл бұрын
@@KungEMuller agreed. i really can’t stand most late night hosts anymore besides conan, even colbert who i used to love i can barely watch now. i’m no fan of trump and i think he’s insane but i can only take so many “silly hair tiny hand orange man bad” jokes before getting sick of it. it’s all so repetitive now. i’m hoping that when stewart comes back with his new show it’ll bring something more entertaining and original to the table again
