Dave Vanian, what an absolutely stunningly beautiful man w/ great swagger. The sole punk to awesomely rock cowboy boots w/ a Cuban heel (and not just at this show - check his footwear going back years). He's sheer perfection, along w/ his singing, of course. No wonder he and Patricia make such a wonderful couple.

Best damned line up I feel. No other drummer compares to Rat, Roman the most solid and talented guitarist by far, Bryn so tight and powerful and Dave, there is only one Vanian.....nuff said.

Machine Gun Ettiquette era line-up was the best in my opinion and they made the band's best record. But, yes, Rat Scabies' drumming has always been the Damned's X factor. And Ratty sounds AMAZING right now on the 2023/24 shows.

The Captain left in 1983(84?)-ish. Returned in 1989, then the band split up. I think they toured again in 1990 and 1992 too, before splitting again. The another incarnation of The Damned surfaced w. Rat Scabies and Alan Lee Shaw, they wrote the 'Not of This Earth' album, and pursuaded Dave to return. They toured a lot in 1994. Bad blood ensued between Dave and Rat, and the band folded in before the 'Not of this Earth' album was released in 1995. The band resurfaced in 1996 w/o Rat, but w. the Captain back.

Not even remotely a ghost band. This was one of the Damned's best line-ups and the one that made the 'Phantasmagoria' and 'Anything' albums in 1985 and 1986 respectively. They also made the Naz Nomad & the Nightmares album in 1984. Sensible left in 1984, but they carried right on with Roman Jugg simply moving from keyboards to lead guitar. And were bloody great!
