I don't think this is a good idea for everyone tho. I work in a studio, and some guitarists like to practice the songs faster because they think it will make them more confident at playing the real tempo. What actually happens is they come in to record the tracks, and then suddenly they always play ahead of the drums because they're used to the song going faster, resulting in a way less tight performance than they would deliver if they just practiced the goddamn song in the right tempo. Mike M is obviously not a normal musician tho.

playing it faster only makes it easier to play by feel dunno samus' method, but if he's playing by feel and not counting every single bar, faster is easier having discipline and playing slow while retaining a sense of time is the hard part
