I watched this when I was so little and only I remember was they were dancing in a secret beautiful placed under a bed. No name or anything. After many years I saw this video on Barbie, I just realized it was a well-known fairytale of Grimm. I have so many fond Faerie Tale Theatre memories growing up. The Twelve Dancing Princesses is no exception. My mom would always let me rent one or two vhs tapes along with my library books. More often than not, I would pick a classic from the Faerie Tale Theatre collection. I've seen most of them. I'd like to track them all down to own and share with my nephews. Thanks, so much for sharing this one! It has me feeling like a 6 year old in dress up clothes again. Much love.

@blerksnarfgut27662 жыл бұрын
@@oh9195 I think you missed part of the moral of this story; the king acknowledges the loss of his beloved wife which resulted in him being overprotective of his daughters. He thought keeping a close watch on them was for their own good (in his own words, "so many things can go wrong") but he realized that all children eventually need to be given their independence after the eldest princess explained they're no longer kids ("we are not so little anymore, father"). His parenting style may have been a bit suffocating but it wasn't intended to come across as creepy.

@@Sarah276602 The Beauty & The Beast reading was ironic considering he starred in a late 80s TV series based on the same story playing the father of Vincent (that show's version of the Beast). I think between his Shakespearian classic sounding voice & that irony Disney could not resist casting him as the reader/narrator of the book based on their own BATB story. I highly recommend the late 80s BATB show, especially the 1st 2 seasons of it. It's very different from Disney's version but IMHO Ron Perlman (Vincent) & Linda Hamilton (Catherine aka the modern Beauty) were excellent & Roy also was awesome as Vincent's father.
