Unfortunately in modern day PVP, sweating means “They did not let me win.”. I have been labeled as “sweaty” for even letting the survivors go after doing *nothing* personal; just doing the event stuff.

I've also been called sweaty for not blatantly throwing. Like any time I decide NOT to chase a 0 Hook Survivor in a strong looping area (And I hardly use Anti-Loop Killers) when there is only one or two Gens left. Ah but then I'm sweating via "Puppy Gaurding a Gen." Nah I just know it it's a bit smarter to do...well anything else BUT that 😭

I think the real problem is not sweating, it's villifying the act of wanting to win at the video game. Like I'm not even talking about playing high tier killers and aggressively tunneling, or running multiple BNPs in a SWF. I mean just, using good perks and some gen regression as killer is sweating? Though I will admit that I've seen a couple of Nurses, a character who cannot really use the event power, and who do not interact with the event at all. They're free to do so if they wish, but I have to wonder why they queued for the event mode if they're not going to play with the new toys.

I’m definitely going to need to take that energy going into the next week of the event. Because I did have multiple rough games in a row as survivor that made me despise the other side. Game that “confirmed” everything I was thinking. Had to take a step back even at one point and realize that the TTV that had tunnelled me out immediately had literally just started playing the game and probably even knew less about how to play they character they were playing. I had bad games as Killer too, where everything just felt like it was slipping away, where I was simply struggling to play the game. It wasn’t until Killer though that I was able to just……let go. And breath. Embrace the energy. I’m taking a break from DbD right now. I clearly need to sort stuff out if I’m feeling that. Hopefully next week I can embrace the energy better.

I don't think (most) people are sweating in the event, I think they're (mostly) just playing how they would normally play and because it isn't all farming and hugs, people with a certain expectation of how players do or should behave during a major event are experiencing disparity between their expectations and the actual outcome. In summary, it's a "you" problem. Not like, YOU, Sage, but those peop- look I think you get it, since I'm basically saying what you said but slightly different 😂

@@nuclearpugg This is true of the modes too. Everyone figured out the first time and they are just... playing the mode the best way to do well. All these events and modes are the same as last time. And it's notable that the accusation of sweat is almost always, 9/10 times, leveled at Killers because to be KIller is to naturally, as an antagonist, be hated. People didn't sweat as Killer in Lights Out, they figured out what worked and they used it. People didn't sweat as Killer in the Masquerade and never do, they just are playing normally and using the tools they have.

THISSSSS I LITERALLY THINK ABT THIS ALL THE TIME!! especially recently, i have a friend newer to dbd i play with sometimes. there used to not be a problem, but recently theyve been getting so mad about tunneling and throw the word around even when hooks are evenly spread. and its just really killing the mood for both of us. i, a 2,000 hour player, try to tell them "i mean i dont think so?" and then they get pissy and quiet. theyve been complaining a lot more lately, abt how theyre always tge first to die (they are new in a game thats extremly beginner unfriendly. they havent accepted dying a fuck ton is just part of survivor, and you get a bit better at surviving as you get more experience even though survivor will usually always involve dying a lot) and killer befriending people and even got mad at the killer "puppyguarding the gates" when i was trying to open them after killer closed hatch and abt the killer camping after all gates are done. and ive just been noticing how theyve become only anle to see the negative. i understand whete theyre coming from, dbd can suck sometimes, but i just miss when they where newer and we where just goofing off together innocently without wirrying about winning. we always died, but we had a good time and i think thats the real goal of dbd

Honestly the only thing that has irritated me during this event so far is survivors crying about me "not playing in a fun way" like ???????????????????????????? Sorry, my definition of fun isnt being flashed every 2 sec, walking around doing nothing or meme:ing, i wanna play the game and have it be fairly competitive. You cannot cry about me playing "unfun" when you bring 4 flashlights to bully me or 4 toolboxes to do gens hella quick, then ofc I will play to atleast draw. The amount of people who complain in this gamemode while simultaneously playing "unfun" themselves is actaully crazy to me. Hypocrisy at its finest. Like some other guy said "sweating means "they did not let me win" " For example, just played a game and all gens got done in maybe 7 min ish, I slugged one survivor in the realm to try something out. I know you cant get healed bcs youre broken in there, so i wanted to see if you can even pick anyone up from the ground. They rest of em opened exit gates, ran in to save, and ended up all getting downed. Who complained about it? Perhaps was it the sable who I first downed in there? Nope... she thought it was a good strat and said they might try it out themselves. Mr Jake paul tho on the other hand who was the last person i downed wrote a whole essay in chat why im not allowed to play like that bcs its not fun for him. Well at the end of the day, me and Sable had a great time.

It confuses me when people say "Killers always sweat and do the same things" in general. I don't see Killers do that... hardly ever. Rather, I just see Killers playing the game. Like, normally. Most Killers are playing the game NORMALLY. In other words... some Survivors deadass look at the Killer, see the KIller has a strong setup that they can't handle, and go "GIVE ME A CHANCE THIS ISN'T FAIR, YOU'RE SWEATING SO HARD ;~;" But the Killer doesn't have to "give you a chance" any more than you have to let the Killer win. You are not entitled to success.

Some sobering moments for me while playing the game is, in the past, getting frustrated with survivors leaving me on hook for example, seemingly playing selfishly, but later watching a small streamer just vibing and chatting with viewers, but in their distraction realize too late that their teammate got left on hook and felt bad. Or on the flip side, watching a killer steam roll us with a sweaty build, but then seeing the most down-to-earth killer mains on twitch taking the game seriously, but it's nothing personal and they're just playing the game how they enjoy playing it. It's easy to assume these people are selfish pricks, but often that's not the case. Maybe they're just scared and lack the confidence to make bold plays, maybe they're playing with a friend or two and they're shooting the shit with each other, maybe they're distracted by their tome challenges, maybe it's just the Solo Queue Experience TM and your team mates don't understand what each other are doing, everyone thinks someone else will get you and no one does. Of course, there are the toxic people, the people who DC at the sight of a killer they don't like or give up on hook, the 4k slugging killers who hump you after. But I think more often than not people are not malicious or entirely selfish. I think if you can just accept the chaos of online PVP games, learn to go with the flow when players are sweaty vs just playing casually and being goofballs, and to not take things so personally, the game won't be so frustrating to play and you can appreciate the good times more. Hell, even if someone is being directly toxic to you, just understand that's their problem, you don't need to give them your energy, they're an insecure toxic mess projecting all their problems onto you, and you can simply stop interacting with them at their level, you're better than that.

I was caught in the act of tryharding and proxy-camping as huntress during the event. The survivors who called me out on this were very informative and told me to "go chase a survivor". So next time, when I know every survivor is not doing gens or resetting, but rather swarming the hook (I have an aura build because I tryhard), I will proceed to chase a healthy survivor away from every important gen, while the rest of their team resets. It is responsibility... Nay, it is my pleasure, to play in the way that encourages the other team to attain more pressure without adjusting their approach of the situation. I will also stop playing like "a terrible huntress", by going for risky/creative shots that mostly miss, and mostly play unique killers every game. This is unacceptable, and is naturally grounds for name-calling. From now on, I will only go for tedious and guaranteed shots because it's more fun for both sides. Also, I've realized my mistake in only using the event void to chase a survivor, interact with the portals, attain the event ability and creatively flank. As a wise person once said; "Go play the normal mode if you want to tryhard and not interact with the event. I came here to have fun with the event". Next time, I will be more diligent in spending 75% of my time in the void, especially when the opposing team barely go in there. Lastly, I will definitely never 4k using these tactics again. My road to redemption has begun.

I appreciate the work you put into this and the message, but I'd like to respectfully add a point of disagreement (I don't disagree with everything). I think the DBD community at some point also created a sort of built-in protection mechanism for the designers of the game. Way too often, I see complaints from either side, with the general vibe of "hey, I'm not really having as much fun as I used to have" and then it turns into this pseudo-psychological deconstruction about how the community "complains too much" or "people just need to learn to shrug x y z off" and I think the intent of that is all well and good, but it misses the fundamental message. DBD's design has become increasingly frustrating as the years go by, as the game gets more popular, and certain groups take it more seriously / others take it less seriously. Things have happened, and the designers of the game have stopped trying to be proactive, and I would argue even lag behind to REACT to things that happen to the state of DBD. I don't feel like enough pressure is put on them to address the very valid criticisms of "hey, I'm just not having as much fun anymore" from both killers and survivors. That's their job, and they haven't been doing it well. But at some point, we started this back and forth discourse of "the playerbase" and ultimately choose to point back the finger at ourselves, all while BHVR primarily focus on increasing monetization and put dev resources *away* from this game. I think we would be more effective to get them to respond, rather than trying to change the mentality and psychology of /every player in the game/ tbh.
@twinsmainsageDBD
@twinsmainsageDBD 17 сағат бұрын
I agree that the devs could do a better job responding to the playerbase and especially improving upon the core game. HOWEVER I'm not interested in making a video addressing the devs when they don't even really listen to their own fog whisperers. I've seen Otz make (valid) criticisms to the developers that got completely ignored. It feels more productive and fulfilling for me to talk about issues that I myself have seen than to yell into the void and hope I get an answer. I can't change the base game, nor can I realistically reach anyone that can change the base game. The best I can do is try to make the dbd space a more positive place, that's all I'm trying to do.
@momo-e9s3r
@momo-e9s3r 17 сағат бұрын
@@twinsmainsageDBD yeah, I get that and I think that's all valid. Like I said, I also still appreciate you making this and just your content in general so please don't at all think I'm like trying to "no, actually!" you. We need content creators who do this. In writing my first comment I actually stopped to think, "well why did we stop criticizing the devs?" and I think that you touched on the same thing that came to mind for me as well: years of them not engaging with the community. I've seen Otz's videos and he really is one of the most kind, level-headed and honestly fair people whose takes genuinely feel like sincere attempts to make the game healthier, and more long lasting. I've also noticed that over the years he seems to feel really disillusioned with the devs actually taking that feedback into account. It's quite sad. But I think that leaves us where we're at, a playerbase that gives the devs a free pass because they haven't listened in the past. That doesn't feel right either, no? I don't know the solution, just think it's interesting to observe is all.

Event is funny in my opinion, with the smoke bombs. The void is funny to loop for a bit if you're in a dead zone, better than nothing.

I don’t hate them for doing it, they’re using what’s available at the moment to help them win the game, but damn does it feel like it’s sometimes impossible to have fun with this event as killer. As survivor? Hell yeah I love it, especially since I get to collect all kinds of things and use them afterwards while killers in this event can’t use the blight serum or arcane rod offering after the event. Im having a lot of fun on the event, and like it tbh, but this killer sits on top of the hatch (while its open) to wait until I approach, and afterward I try to get a chase in and (being The Game) I walk into a small room with for some reason one entrance, where I just... sat there... injured... until timer ticked from max to 0. They then said "I need to raise mmr"??? (even tho i dont think events have mmr/dbd mmr is mostly useless) :/ I think people are being too hard on the event, its not amazing, but its not bad, but Ive never seen such a... petty attitude seemingly from the last match to that kind of extent. If you just Chase a Surv and hook without showing ANY kind of reaction than the surv hase no oputinito to do fun shit with you. The same on the ohter side. If you don´t try to do somthing funny that is not the most effectif thing in the round than don´t expect the ohterside to do it. I main Mirror Myers because of the funny moments that is happening during the match and I have a lot more fun than playing a Blight and just play the most effectiv way possibel. This is a Multiplayer game and in Multiplayer games you make your fun with the ohter players. Its not just happening automaticlly.

yeahh I dont think either side is "sweating" I think they're just playing it like a normal match. however I think a "normal match" has just become more sweaty as a whole. And I don't really see why people wouldn't when overall the gamemode doesn't effect gameplay too much. I also think that "sweating" in dbd is tossed around as commonly as people breathe air. "they're genrushing" when survivors literally just do gens. or "their build is toxic" when it's just using the objectively good perks. It's kinda lame how quick people are to complain just bc they aren't having friendlies of either side. or worse god forbid people who just want to play the game

wow I can't believe how DISRESPECTFUL this is (jkjk) People are quick to be the gamer that cried "toxic" or"sweaty" or "tryhard"

They whole idea that people will sweat less in an event is simply wrong people will always optimize their builds and playstyle to win. And people simply do sweat because they want to win. I disagree I have had way more killers sweat a 4k than not.

Funny, I have had way more SURVIVORS sweat for every possible way to delay that first hook and get a four man out in five minutes than Killers... I guess it goes both ways.

Completely agree and understand the sway of suggestion, however there are plenty of Killers playing the event just to RUIN the fun, slugging at 5 gens, bringing NOED, Devour, starstruck just a full insta-down build, and humping on the ground 80% of the matches, or worst of all Infinite Tombstone Myers is not something my team an I run across often in normal DBD matches so it certainly feels like the event is more so toxic then the average match, on the flip side we have had nice farming killers too so its a mixed bag of jellybeans just feels like more rotten jellybeans then normal lol

You're falling prey to the same thing she points out here. Not a soul is out there ruining the event for anyone, instead try saying "They are playing how they normally would, and just want to win more than I do."

Nah I just play to win. Some matches I just suck and they win. Killer main tho so I 3-4k a lot. I suck as a survivor and don't get out often with my friends. A lot of times I'm caught out of place and don't have a jungle gym to loop or a strong filler pallet or the pallet is already used that I wanted

I don't think most people are able to view "Oh I just suck" as a positive thing in any way and your view doesn't work for everyone. Not everyone can or does want to "play to win". I think most people just play to have fun, and winning is just one way to have fun. If you always play for the win, I think most people will then be very disappointed and sad when they lose, because what the hell? They played to win, they should have won, this game sucks the other side is sweaty it's not possibly ME having had a bad match. What I am saying is I do see your viewpoint and it's valid. But for most people, that viewpoint i think leads to more anger and stress, not less. It's a rare person who can go "Oh well I just suck" and shrug it off.

ugh not another upload from this person. DBD players "assume" the worst, cause the community is an endless cycle of toxicity and no you cannot "break the cycle" by being different. if you go in positive, you'll endu p disappointed with endless teammates who are way under the reccomended playing age of the game underperfomring, selling you out or NOT PLAYING THE DAMN GAME. People giving up on first hook, people not touching gens. as killer you'll spontaneously find the survivors you SHOULD HAVE playing the game, proritizing gens, hopping on gens the microsecond you dont have their attention...
