In the extra chapters, the wallet chain was actually Serina's idea, being a fangirl of school delinquent stuff. And she even did a "shakedown" on Ichikawa few days after as a way to reassure Yamada. And the letter is the closest thing we have on Yamada's inner thoughts, since we only have Ichikawa's all throughout the series.

That cast has been set. We’re in the final stretch here. Things are heating up, Ichikawa’s character is nearing its climax. His determination is rising. These last two episodes are definitely two of my favorites in the whole series. Still though, too many new characters is dangerous. I’ve introduced 8 new characters in a single chapter once, and I was just so unsure as I was writing it. It is the introduction chapter where the protagonist meets his teammates for the first time, but somehow, I still feel like there are too many introductions.

It's okay to have many introductions in one chapter, Mistborn most readily comes to mind, but you then have to give each significant character time with the main character or main POV to better establish them. It's all about striking that difficult balance.

@@camillesharem well, the protagonist has met them, but this is kind of just the proper introduction. Currently, I have them at a table going around introducing themselves, but I feel like it was a little forced, so I may change it later.

In my opinion about the manga but, I understand that it is worrying to have new characters late, but these two are semi-exclusive characters for volume 8 (these last 4 episodes), so they are to advance the plot more and not to stole the spotlight

Exactly, from the perspective of the manga, their introduction makes total sense. And they work within the anime, too. It's just something that any author wants to be careful with doing, putting such new and dynamic characters in so close to the end of a book or story.

Just want to point out Kanna who looks like a weirdo with a mask is the more friendly extroverted one, while the more classically beauty blonde (Or Yamada Blanco Alt) is the more laid back introverted one of the two. One thing I want to focus on, is the measurement scene kinda shows how the two leads are on different wavelengths regarding what they think they need to make the relationship move forward. Its a good example of the ole Men are from Mars/Women from Venus trope, how they are referencing the same event in real time and getting completely different things from it. Ichikawa when he says he wants to be "closer to you physically" he is referring to his height which is a shorthand metaphor for him wanting to be closer to respect and status to Yamada to not "weigh her down." His slow start to puberty vs Yamada's early growth spurt is the most obvious visual shorthand, but we see that Yamada has a job, rubbing shoulders with high society individuals, and at dates foots the bill, which I can imagine to an extent makes he feel bad like he isn't doing his duty as a man. Contrast to Yamada which the last thing on her mind moments ago was her seeing Ichikawa write her first name on her measurement line, so in that sense he has grown "closer" in terms of interpersonal relationship and intimacy with her. So being closer physically takes on a more intimate (And slightly suggestive) meaning. We see the two are still not on the same plane. Later when Yamada is writing her letter she describes Ichikawa as being "shy" and being scared off, to her the issue with Ichikawa is strictly him being afraid to express his feelings (Which is accurate) but the idea that he thinks he needs to have a level of respect from others to have a similar status to her isn't even a thought in her mind. (Or maybe it is but writing so in a letter to another girl would come across as disrespectful, we can't fully know what goes on in her head, since her POV and Inner thoughts are very much kept in the dark, we only get slightly more information than Ichikawa himself as an objective third person observer.) In this episode at least we see Ichikawa realizes his worries about said status and her reputation is another obstacle that gets in the way of their relationship and cause them to drift apart, so once again he isn't dense, and he learns things that a lot of us adults have trouble learning until the hardway. One thing I really like was how its confirmed that his old teacher has been looking out for him and did pull some strings and bend the rules if he thought it would help a student and their future. I'm sure he was concerned about Ichikawa's murder Chuuni behavior and loner tendericies, but knew that its not like him trying to directly engage with Ichikawa would help, in Season 1 he tells Yamada he isn't afraid to tell someone to screw off, but you see in Season 1 when Ichikawa tried to Lawyer some bullshit to get Yamada outta trouble, the teacher knew he was full of shit, but decided if him defending this girl got him out of his dark self then he can look the other way once. The Principal being in on it and on his side would be a bit surprising but I'm guessing since Ichikawa even when he was in his Emo Chunni phase was getting good grades that the Teacher knew he was gifted and had potential in his future and could use that to sell the staff and principal to bend more rules and push for Ichikawa being the year speaker to try to not let him squander his gifts and end up in a bad place. Its nice, especially since IRL those kind of teachers that will go the extra mile and not go by the letter of the law when they need to are few and far between.
